Panel and airfraft freeze.

Featured Replies

Right, just had my 3rd freeze with the PMDG. First one was yesterday, sitting at the ground at LOWW configuring the FMC before the flight, didn't really think about it and restarted FSX. Second one was earlier today at ~10000' approaching EHAM while fiddeling with the last legs of the approach, shut down FSX a little annoyed of not completing my flight. Third time happened about an hour ago. ~15000' approaching ENGM while I was adjusting the speeds/altitudes of the waypoints. All the CDU's freeze but some switches work, for example the mainpanel light knob works aswell as the F/O's-, pedestal- and overhead-panel lights. I tried switching views with 'S', ctrl+alt+delete and then maximizing FSX again and even fast forwarding x8 and then back to normal speed so the sim has to reload but without any luck.About a week ago I did a fresh install of FSX and after it was done I did the "Caribbean Landing" mission and that was the first time that I got the freezing panels, so it's not just the 737NGX.The things I didn't have before I did a fresh install was the HDR mod (altough I can't get that one to work, pressing shift+F12 doesn't do anything), the antilag FPS limiter and the UIAutomationCore.dll fix. Addons installed: REX 2.0 + OVD, ORBX PNW and PMDG 737NGX. Hope any of this information helps. smile.png

I had the problem occur to me as well just now. After flying the tutorial a second time, and at night this time around, I decided to make another short hop from Schipol (EHAM) to Düsseldorf (EDDL). I loaded up REX for real weather instead of clear skies an programmed a simple flight plan without SID or STAR to runway 23L at EDDL via SPY (VOR) and LI (NDB) at 11,000 feet. After doing the flight successfully and also successfully landing via autoland shortly after midnight i turned off the runway, switched off the landing lights and strobes, switched on the taxi lights and contacted Ground for parking. I got my clearance and switched on progressive taxi. I accelerated down the taxiway and when it was time to turn I noticed that my rudder/ground steering didn't work. Shortly after that I realized that all the screens were frozen and that I could still flip switches but without an effect. Adding route in CDU via LEGS fix by fix = no freeze if you put the same route with navaids in RTE page after N1 settings or before = 100 % freeze. I've noticed no response from PMDG about CDU freeze so i think they are working hard to solve this problem. A part CDU freeze during flight setup i've noticed no bugs or problem. Is the best aircraft i've never flown but it need a patch.

Just had this notorious panel freeze for the first time in many flights but I was able to get my panel back to full control!! I was cruising along at FL380 in full screen mode as I always do. I alt/enter to switch to windowed mode to change some settings in Ezdok. After messing with Ezdok for a bit I noticed the aircraft instrument panel was frozen...none of the switches, buttons, knobs worked. But I was still cruising along nicely..all external views still working as well as Ezdok views working. So I alt/enter to switch back to full screen mode and lo and behold my instrument panel was back to full function! Hope this helps! Operated the NGX for just over 6 continues hours today including ground time between legs. No issues what so ever until landing in Sitka AK. Just as the wheels touched I lost all flight control but was able to stop as the brakes were still responding. I ended up on the side of the runway in the dirt and rocks, and noticed that non of the flight deck systems would respond even though the switch or buttons would move. Upon looking outside (still had full view control) I noticed that the wings were still in a full upward flex position even though I was on the ground and fully stopped. Its as if the aircraft had locked, but FSX was still perfectly operational as all sim functions still worked.

Mine just froze again for the second time while trying to step through the route via the ND and Legs page one the ground during preflight. Route was MIA-ATL (HEDLY1 HEDLY J53 CRG CANUK1). I'll also mention that both times this happened, it has been dark outside. Not sure if that has anything to do with it though. Using the -800WL Delta paint. Also, if it means anything, when my displays locked up going through the Legs page, the right side of the page where the altitude restrictions were completely disappeared..was just a blank area. Strangely enough, I could change pages in the CDU and when I went to PERF INIT, the Gross Weight as well as ZFW (if i remember right) were reset.

Just experienced this...aircraft is still flying, frames are normal, and stuck in a gentle left bank with no updating from the panel, and no response either besides the ability to switch pages on the CDU. Was 737-900WL in KLM colors. Plan: LOWI KOGO2J KOGOL UM726 UPALA Y102 ALIBU UL604 RELBI UL602 RKN2A EHAMWas the second leg of a trip. Previous trip was EGLL-LOWI. Flight from EGLL was selected directly from the Fly Now menu. No changes (location, aircraft, etc) were made thereafter. Chose an APU Air failure to activate in 25 seconds while on the ground at LOWI, so while the APU was running, I used a cart to start #2. Pushed and taxied to the RWY 08 hold bars, then cross bleed started #1. Then I backtracked down to line up on 08.Plan was entered manually VIA RTE page entering the typical waypoint-airway-waypoint method. (While still shutdown on the ramp of course - using APU power)Aircraft was airborne at FL410 and approx 4 miles past MASEK waypoint.I had decided not to select an arrival or approach until airborne, and was in the process of doing that. I selected ILS 18R, then the RKN2A arrival, then the ARTIP transition. As soon as I clicked at 5R, the aircraft lurched upward slightly, and then the panel locked. I was initially confused that I could not hit EXEC to extinguish the light and started looking around to see what I missed. I noticed it was frozen because while the aircraft was turning left, the ND was still showing right on the line. I saved the flight afterwards, but obviously not the panel state. I can't see it mattering, but I have Aerosoft Approaching Innsbruck X, Mega Airport London Heathrow, and Mega Airport Paris CDG X installed. Hope I wasn't too long winded there lol...after testing on the DF 727 and Super 27, Cessna 177, etc - I know every bit of info can help. My specs are in my sig. I'm gonna leave FSX open but paused for awhile incase you guys have anything I could do to help diagnose. Thanks guys!

Why don't you try Alt+ENT method to go to windowed mode and then back to full? I remember on few occasions long time ago the MD-11 had a similar problem with freezing displays and there was something (?) that was fixing the issue in a second during the flight. Can't remember what though, but can be as easy as Alt+ENT.I can't replicate the issue myself as I am traveling at the moment.

Was flying from CYZF to PANC and everything was functioning normally. I had originally planned to land on Rwy 07R however the winds changed to Rwy 14. I proceeded to make the changes in my FMC and when I clicked the execute button, the aircraft took a dive towards the ground. FMC, all controls on the glareshield, and data on the PFD were frozen. (i.e. IAS was always at 275kts and altitude FL340). Disabling the autopilot, autothrottle, etc. did nothing. Basically the aircraft dove to the ground and there was nothing I could do to recuperate. NOTE: FSX is not frozen, nor is the aircraft. just the above mentionned controls of the aircraft.

I had a ctd last night giving me an out of memory error, black panels in VC as well. never had an out of memory before with 6GB Ram This morning the entire VC froze and I had to restart. the sound was still on and i was on CRZ. However, i was using TrackIr5 and was on VATSIM, might have caused the issue. This happened when i changed my arrival procedure to KIAD to RWY19C, and it happened in the exact moment when i pressed the EXEC key on the FMC. Note, my sim completely froze and only my mouse pointer was moveable on the screen, I could not switch/rotate, move with hat switch. dead lock. Task Manager gave me a 'not responding' for FSX app. Pls fix this PMDG ;-) this plane is so beautiful to fly....!

Panel freeze on the ramp for me at MYNN. It happened when I entered the PLAN MFD mode, though I was working the FMC/routing quickly so there could have been a different trigger. A pretty catastrophic bug for me as I had spent 20 minutes setting up the aircraft and there was no fixing it no matter what I did. ALT-Enter and back. Alt-Tab. View change. No joy.

Had the issue just now. Was flying Alaska Airlines flight 17 from KMIA to KSEA using:KMIA WINCO1 WINCO LBV J616 SRQ Q100 REDFN Q105 HRV EIC IRW LAA CHE PIH PDT CHINS7 KSEA I was 244nm from IRW (as can be seen in the below picture). I recently had just step climbed to FL360 from FL340 and was changing the approach when this happened. I was in the LEGS page at the time. Here is a screenshot of the LEGS page and the MENU page of both CDUs along with the ND:2011-8-6_23-2-14-741.jpgThe issue happened either before or when I hit EXEC. Which is still lit.Payload information (Was unable to get it from the FMC): payload.PNG And, not sure if this is useful, but I have the "Previous flight" state from FSX (the FMC/Panel state wasn't able to be saved sadly):http://dl.dropbox.co...viousflight.zip Here are my system specs if it helps at all: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz4GB DDR2 RAMnVidia GTX560 Ti 1GBWindows 7 Professional x64 Addons in use:ActiveSky EvolutionFSUIPC (Registered). I just had the same freeze of some of the panels and controls while setting up my FMC on the apron. Reset my flight and everything starting working fine until half way into my flight. My center fuel tank had depleted and it never switched over to the left and right tanks which were full. The engines just shut down. Couldn't restart the APU either. Todd.

Cheers,
Todd

I already have a support ticket, but for the benefit of those reading this topic, I too have had several CTD episodes. The first was a freeze of the simulation after selecting and executing a number or STAR approaches. On the 4th execute, the sim locked up and then CTD. On the second flight, I didn't mess with the FMS to do a unstressed flight. While flying, the screen just went black and there was a CTD, no freeze. On both occasions the AP was actively tracking a RNAV flight plan that I had manually entered in. No STAR for the arrival had been selected yet on the second occurrence. A/T was engaged, and throttles were oscillating to maintain mach, but nothing unusual, just stating the conditions when the CTD's happened. I had the aircraft sitting at a gate for over 4 hours and no issues occurred during that time.

Cheers,

Cpt. Thad Wheeler
