Everything, unless I am testing a new aircraft or new scenery.

Always cold n dark, start and finish: always real-world weather. two or three flights per day. Airlines - most often the Maddog at KSEA; always FSPassengers, end with shutdown at dest gate to deplane the pax, then shutdown to cold n dark. Cargo - Milviz Cessna and Cargo PilotGA. GA - BirdDog inside hangar at KORS.

It takes me a good 20+ minutes to get through all my check lists culminating in start-up and push-back. Then of course there are the en-route check lists, followed by after landing and shut down. They all closely follow the aircraft flight manual. The big jets are not cars. You cannot just jump in start and go. So, a major part of simulation especially for real pilots are the cockpit procedures. Also on my aircraft I have emergency briefings and cabin communications to add to that certain ambience!vololiberista

It depends on how much time I have and what I want to do. If I just want to do some quick sightseeing, I start from the runway, engine running and just jam the throttle forward. Other times, I try to do everything by the book.

I can tell you from experience why many people would avoid taxiing. First they probably do not know how to navigate through the airport probably do not have the ICAO charts and do not know the Phonetic codes so If the ATC would ask me to go via AB9 via PW4 some of us would wonder is the ATC drunk . Secondly people may not have the time to wait and then take the long taxi route. well that's just my experience and I still do it even after knowing the Phonetic codes and I know they are written like this CC9 / A12 etc..... but I still have trouble navigating.

On vatsim yes I taxi from the ramp. I don't start from cold and dark though on airliners. I do however go through the process of programming the FMS etc etc. Offline I usually just fly for fun so I start on a runway most of the time.

Depends in part on time available, but mostly whether I am flying to/from a payware (or good freeware/standard) airport. I enjoy touring the great airports (e.g. UK2000's stuff) and rarely start or finish them on the runway - or why bother with the payware stuff at all, if you only get a quick glimpse of it as you land?

Its a flight simulator to simulate the real world and I'm sure real world pilots taxi or do they hire a taxi driver?
Yes, I never pushed my aircraft out to the runway. LOL.gif

I think taxi is also one interested thing that make our flight more realistic, so every flight I will cold&dark, push&start, taxi to runway,takeoff......and so on

I wish I would start on the runway though whenever I visit Amsterdamand get the Polderbaan.Takes me 15 minutes to taxi to or from that dang runway. Always start C&D and always from a gate as I usually fly online.Offline I'll start at a gate because it's second nature by now. cheers JP.
