Oh look, there's something new on the MS Flight website. Time to rehash the old rejigged FSX versus brand new engine for Flight discussion.
Well, the FS9 is better than FSX or vice versa bores need something new to bang on about, don't they? Al

I wouldn't say this building was particularly oversize in comparison to the tree in front of it or the boats around it? BqG6u.jpgLove how the building lights switch on at dusk and are not just a night texture. 3J6ME.jpg

These new screen shots look fantastic but I was really hoping for cloud shadows. sad.png Maybe they're still working on it?

Hahahaha... you'r the one who's not getting it, so if they import 90% from FSX it's something new.....HELLO!!! ...they imported the weather engine, the night texture, the oversized houses +++ to work on it.....give me a break....they are fixing FSX period, no need to import anything, they are incorporating new stuff in FSX.....I'm out of breath again.....
LOL, it amuses me to see how one can be so convinced of himself and his opinions, even if they are as shortsighted and narrow minded as can be. Please continue, you're very entertaining!

Lets hope they add cloud shadows in the future, seems to be the only missing element.

So you guys need another clue...ok here it is....look at this.... http://www.microsoft...s/flight/#news7 On the right side there is the Flight stamp on each pics and nothing on the left side.....(like FSX or else)... are you following me so far.....now you can clearely see that the scenery is the same on each pic. right or left ....so if this was a brand new engine there would be no need to compare the before and after pictures BECAUSE they will have nothing to compare with since it's all new from the ground up as MS said so no need for correction right??? (don't get me started on the "We will use what ever we see fit from FSX)..... FSX + better scenery + improving the weather system = FSX SP3 repackaged......I'm out of breath....
I think this is an undue conclusion. Developing a weather system will start with "rough material" and a "general approach". After that you add visual effects and do the fine tuning. That´s the way every complex system is build, right? Regarding this, it´s POSSIBLE that they show that very progress of their weather system and that this is what they compare it with (and not mention FSX). To me it seems that the alleged FSX-pictures don´t look very much like FSX, but it´s been quite a while since I had a look at it so I may be wrong... But I´m sure some hardworking guy will come up with some real FSX-comparision shots...

Looking good, the blending of the clouds where they meet terrain is fantastic, no more of that nasty ocean of fog effect.

Hey, Ten minute Taxi dude. Stick these screenshots where the sun doesn't shine! Nice work MS, I'm enjoying the progress. The new pics made my day :)

That does appear to be the case...
We'll know for sure when the next screenshot package comes out. If the shots are taken in a place other than Hawaii, hands down they read what's going on in these threads.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

Not bad, but I'm puzzled by the "would need a 94 core beast to run those graphics" comments. There is nothing in those screenshots that couldn't be handled by my i5 2500k PC (based on how much detail it can shift at smooth framerates in FSX).

Great updates!!! cant wait for Flight, whenever its released, only thing that doesnt impress are the night textures, look the same as FSX they need to incorporate UTX style 3d lights at least, get with the times! loving the smaller wave animations, clouds are impressive too and the buildings actually look like buildings not a repetitive grid!

Why do you think I would be so convinced......I would not be shortsighted and narrow minded if I was speculating... Posted 08 September 2011 - 08:58 PMEverybody stay calme Flight is safe.... Posted 12 September 2011 - 04:45 PMYou all need to read back post # 201....seriously.....and follow the instructions on the prozac bottle......shuuuut! don't say anything but MS in full mode development..... Sept. 13 we get new pictures..... I will say it again, anything MS can do to make Flight better compare to FSX is fantastic, no doubt about it, but if you think they are building a brand spanking new engine from scratch using some stuff from FSX where they see fit... more power to you...don't take my word for it, just look at what was released so far from the beginning up to now (pics. and vid.) and tell me if the other way around does not seems to be more plausible to you...
only thing that doesnt impress are the night textures
Yes, I have to agree. They still look like ugly blotches on the landscape.
