We'll know for sure when the next screenshot package comes out. If the shots are taken in a place other than Hawaii, hands down they read what's going on in these threads.
i think we should start an anti-hawaii thread/riot. Just saying please bring torches and pitchforks.

Why do you think I would be so convinced......I would not be shortsighted and narrow minded if I was speculating... Posted 08 September 2011 - 08:58 PMEverybody stay calme Flight is safe.... Posted 12 September 2011 - 04:45 PMYou all need to read back post # 201....seriously.....and follow the instructions on the prozac bottle...... shuuuut! don't say anything but MS in full mode development..... Sept. 13 we get new pictures..... I will say it again, anything MS can do to make Flight better compare to FSX is fantastic, no doubt about it, but if you think they are building a brand spanking new engine from scratch using some stuff from FSX where they see fit... more power to you...don't take my word for it, just look at what was released so far from the beginning up to now (pics. and vid.) and tell me if the other way around does not seems to be more plausible to you...
You know Alain, I think it all comes down to the way you interpret the term 'new engine' as opposed to others like myself. Like you I think that Flight uses FSX code. But in my opinion the core part is rewritten to support current technology; so this code is in fact new. And I bet a lot of other stuff was added too. Therefore I think you can say Flight uses a new engine. I think the differences under the hood between FSX and Flight are to big to justify calling Flight 'FSX SP3'... In any case I'm not trying to be arrogant about my views and claim them to be the truth. You do in a very entertaining way. I look forward to your next post! Big Grin.gif

Fair enough, I know where you'r coming from now, I'm calling Flight FSX SP3 because that's what MS should have gave us...a fixed engine....of course one can interpret "new engine" the way they see fit for their own personal satisfaction and I have no problem with that, having to say that MS started Flight with the same engine and fixing it as they go is "kinda" of a sacrilege for some here as they already had their mind made up about the engine ....until.....MS had to say (in their own way) that they were in fact using some stuff from FSX for Flight....oh well!! now it's not the same, it's OK....it's comming from MS.....cause before that there was no way in hell MS was using anything from FSX according to some....am I right??? How entertaining was "10 minutes taxi" affirmation about Flight been cancelled....enough for me to be very amused reading some of the post generated by his affirmation.....he had a source from the inside .....right....??? How credible will his next affirmation about Flight be?? Waiting.gif I'm not trying to be arrogant about my view but I stand by what I said and as I said before if I was taken for a ride I'll be the first one to say I was wrong, you can trust me on that but I ain't telling where it's coming from...ever.

I'm glad they posted an update. I've got mixed feelings on this new sim though. Why only Hawaii?True cloud layers?Flight dynamics?

Why not ask Microsoft?

There isn't a single "engine" in Flight Simulator. it consists of a series of engines for flight dynamics, aircrcaft visuals, terrain, weather, AI, autogen , graphics, etc. It's almost certain that Microsoft will have reviewed the requirements forf all of these and modified them to varying degrees. It's also almost certain that Microsoft won't have thrown the past away and started again from from scratch with a completely new game. It's rather like the proverbial farmer's spade.

Nice to have some new shots; looking good! And this quote from the Flight team sounds promising... In our lead up to launching Microsoft Flight....

I just noticed the possible global lighting on shot 3. The plane is pretty obviously being lit on the underside from the ground lighting. If Flight has incorprated global lighting on planes, i.e. we can finally have realistic tarmac lighting, that would be one of the biggest advancements yet IMO and a huge game changer.
