November 27, 201114 yr 80 bucks is a bargain! To me, it seems every new (for me) add on is a new "game" - a whole new simulation. Like I said, $80.00 is a bargain! Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. November 27, 201114 yr I still fly it in Fs9 every week, usually KLM and Lufthansa routes. I swap between PMDG Md-11, 747 and iFly 737 everyday or so to change my taste, and still enjoying Fs9 every single moment. My top 3 on aircraft list!Despite having Fs2Crew for all of them, sometimes I still want to fly it "alone" to get myself busy.I usually buy addons when there are update(s),bugs fixed and especially possitive comments. Only after PMDG release 1.2 update for MD-11 that I get it Hoang Le i7 13700k - Sapphire Nitro+ AMD RX 7900 XT - Asus TUF Z790 PLUS D4 - Gskill Trident 32GB DDR4-3600 LG 34GP63A-B Ultrawide - ASUS VG259QM MSFS2020
November 27, 201114 yr PMDG MD-11 remains my favorite aircraft in fs9. I fly it almost exclusively, without fs2crew though. I havent bought the iFly 737 yet. And I agree, 80 bucks isnt a big deal, the product is really worth its price.
November 27, 201114 yr The PMDG MD11 is easily one of the best aircraft out there for FS9! I was blown away with how nice it is. I agree the price is pretty high though. I had to save a while to fork out that much on a sim. Great buy though! I fly it about 1 out of 4 flights. / CPU: Intel i7-9700K @4.9 / RAM: 32GB G.Skill 3200 / GPU: RTX 4080 16GB / Freight Pilot
November 27, 201114 yr I was a little miffed by PMDG's choice to develop the MD11 over the 737NG at the time but since have come to enjoy the bird. I fly it often especially with FS2Crew's package. Fedex flies short and long hauls with this bird so it's the best of both worlds for a heavy. It's a unique add-on because you can all but fly it anywhere (within reason). Fedex/UPS (or any cargo hauler that operates the MD11) will fly this bird into places most other heavies wouldn't go. Since it's release I feel the MD11 was a great choice by PMDG especially since we now have the iFly 737NG package to compensate for the NGX in FS9. November 27, 201114 yr Despite the quality of the products, I wonder if it goes well to the developers? Many say that the sale didn't impress PMDG and also Fs2Crew. November 27, 201114 yr Despite the quality of the products, I wonder if it goes well to the developers? Many say that the sale didn't impress PMDG and also Fs2Crew. Not many real planes were manufactured and sold, and according to hearsay not many (comparatively) were sold by PMDG - some things you do for love and not for money. In my opinion it is the best thing they've done next to the new NGX (where you can see many of the interface concepts developed in the MD). It has a steep learning curve, but is an excellent plane and one of my favorites in both FS9 and FSX.DJ
November 27, 201114 yr I really would like to use the Pmdg Md11, but I'm not able to complete a flight whit it without an OOM...really disappointed...It is not the correct thread, but suggetsions are more then welcome! I tried last time more then 1 year ago...Ps: I have an E8400 3.0ghz and 4gb RAM on XP 32bit and the 3Gb patch applied
November 27, 201114 yr I have an E8400 3.0ghz and 4gb RAM on XP 32bit and the 3Gb patch appliedI have exactly the same stuff (at least until tomorrow when I will be receiving a new rig) and I haven't been experiencing PMDG OOM's since I applied the switch. Before: too many to count. Are you sure you have followed the 3GB swtich technique step by step? See here: http://forum.avsim.n...age__hl__userva
January 9, 201214 yr I know this is an old thread guys but I've just got into the MD-11 and after flying almost exclusively the iFly 737 for a long time, it's a nice change. I didn't bother with it at the time it came out because I wasn't interested in learning a whole new set of systems and was very happy with the 747, LDS 767 and PMDG 737NG. I'm glad I gave it a go now.I really didn't know just how much automation is in the MD11 compared to, say, the 737 and it's actually a bit more like an Airbus to fly. For example, when starting the engines the packs automatically shut off and come back on line when you've done, there is a massively more comprehensive crew alerting system than in a 737 and the auto flight system is way more advanced. Plus for me the biggest surprise was how the MD manages speed control for you all the way down the descent to final, something you'd not trust VNAV in a 737 to do for you. The flight model is really good and it's surprisingly easy to hand fly, even given the fairly high Vref speeds on final. I fly it in Fedex colours and the other pleasant change is seeing the cargo areas of airports I've never really bothered with until now. If you've not given this bird some space in your FS9 hangar, you should give it a go.
January 9, 201214 yr I have it on my laptop which has my FS9 on it. The MD-11 from PMDG is still a great plane to fly. JeffG Jeffrey Gerbert
January 9, 201214 yr Im actually on the lookout for a new long hauler, i took a look at this craft and to me also the price is a little over my threshold, granted im sure it is worth it, im just not feeling the $ though, had it been priced the same as the 747, it would be in my hangar as we speak :( However I am eyeing their 747 for a new long hauler, bt havnt qujte commited to it yet, but unfortunately the md is definetly out of the question due to the high price tag. (i cant even imagine the amount of work involved in creating such a craft, so im sure they desere the price they are asking and cant fault them for it, but its just a tad out of my league)P.S Come PMDG, have a sale going soon please ;) Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
