Burt,Welcome to the forums!I would start a new thread here in the Flight forum, you will be more apt to get some answers there - plus there are several here that were on the beta team and still have access to the MS beta forums for Flight, they have been relaying information to them and getting feedback to provide as well. You can also send an email to:[email protected]I would start that new thread though , it may get you some quicker responses...

I was intending to download MS Flight when it was released, but at the moment I simply can't be bothered. I have been busy with a little personal FSX project over the past two weeks, so MS Flight isn't even on my radar.

I've actually downloaded and installed it twice LOL, had to after I formatted a drive. But the fact that I did so means that I must find it worthy of having. If I do have a complaint, it is that they need to add the ability to buy some points in smaller denominations and sort out some of the purchasing glitches. I bought Hawaii and the RV, but I won't be buying the Mustang unless they sling a cockpit in the thing, this being my way of telling MS that whilst I like the fun factor of Flight, I don't want it too dumbed down. I'd like to see them move outside the US for some terrain before too long, somewhere like the Alps, Central Africa or South America would be fun to have, and it needs a Huey and a mid sized cargo twin like a DC-3 to give us some stylish fun adventures to go on.Al

Check Amazon for Xbox Points Gift Cards. They are available in amounts as low as 400 pts, for lower prices than Microsoft charges you to buy direct. Just be sure "[Online Game Code]" is specified in the item, so that you will be instantly emailed the redemption code for use on the Xbox website.

I downloaded this. Let me first say that I went into this with an open mind. My first impression is simply all that is missing. I tried to set up my CH throttle quadrant, but could not find separate assignments for engines 1 and 2. (perhaps if I dig deeper, but this was never hard to find). There's also no obvious sensitivity settings (yes, I later found that you could edit them with some config file). Well, ok, still keeping an open mind. Next I'm forced into some missions. Again annoyed but keeping an open mind. My big problem with whatever default plane I was in was the poor virtual cockpit. All the instruments were basically fake on-screen hud things. I don't know if they are trying to sim some complex hud or what. I just miss my simple single engine Cessna, Piper or Beech. Now, what did impress me was the framerate. I am below recommended specs which is usually not good for MSFS, but this flew smooth on my 3+ year old rig. I couldn't find a framerate counter but all seemed well so far. On the other hand, the whole thing just felt strange to me. I went back to FS2004 and flew one of my favorite flights: Altoona, PA (KAOO) to Buffalo, NY (KBUF). I'll take a guess and say I'm one of the few making this route regularly. It just happens to be the city where I'm from and the city where my family moved to. We make this drive in real life all the time, and I sim it in MSFS all the time because if I could afford a plane, that's what I would do. That's certainly only a small percentage of what I do in Flightsim, but just an example. So far, that is what Flight lacks. I want to go where I want to go. I like flying in the Northeast US, Florida, the Caribbean, the Pacific Northwest, and Southern California. That's kind of the 4 extremes in the US, and that's what I like. That's where I want to go. I don't want to wait for some mission and DLC there. I just want to go there. There may very well be future DLC to allow me to do just that. At that point I will re-evaluate this, but right now, I am passing on anything for this game.

I'll certainly keep my eye on Flight - but I can't see myself getting more into it until Microsoft release an SDK, open the doors to allow freeware and also allow 3rd party developers to compete with their own DLC content. That would make all users happy, wouldn't it?

I don't think that MS has plans to release a public SDK for a while. They said maybe in a year or two it would come along.

Does getting free DLC because of me being an active beta tester count as buying, or not? I voted Yes to that question.

I don't like it at all. FSX was the last true flight sim. I tried Microsoft Flight and personally I am not going to pay for addons where MS have a monopoly in. There's no customizability like fsx either.

I was in the beta and received all the content for free.

I like what is there except for the jobs without an autopilot. The game has definite potential.

Will I buy more DLC? If they get the autopilot working in the Maule, I will probably buy some more. If they release planes later with the autopilot enabled but don’t do it for the Maule, I probably will wait for all the features I consider important before making any purchases.

This total silence from them about what they are going to do is making me start to lose interest. I haven’t played in over a weak.

I did the same. I have all of the Hawaii content in my beta version. But, I too have become bored with it and doubt I will ever get the full product unless they really amp it up with some true "sim" features. If I want to play the really "gamey" flight games, I have plenty of those with my PS3 that offer lots of excitement; Heroes Over Europe is one that comes to mind. And, my PS3 is graphically superior to anything that MS could ever hope to create for the PC. I haven't played it for almost a month. Even the announcement about Alaska to me is well, "ehh...so..."

Actually, the “gamey” thing does not bother me. I don’t mind if they support different play modes. The thing that bothers me is that I have no idea if they are going to have backwards support of features. If I buy Alaska and later on they put in real world weather, ATC, or some other feature I am looking forward to, are they going to implement them into my past purchase of Alaska? Are they going to make me buy an update to Alaska or worst yet, not implement that feature in Alaska? Another thing is they kind of said that they are not considering the “sim” things we want at this time. They might be saying that so we don’t chomp at the bit for the features or they may truly not want implement that stuff. I do not know.

On a bright note I did fly the Eaglesoft Piper Twin from Anchorage to Fairbanks this morning. :)

I'm missing communication from devs. Just as Torg said. We don't know if that's about it (only adding some maps and aircraft) or we can hope for some more "sim" stuff. If you look other sim devs (for DCS, Rise of Flight, COD) they are in constant contact with simmers. You know what they are preparing for future and what you'll get.

I'm still flying Flight once a day but it gets me back to FSX. And I enjoy flying same routes like in Flight (arround Hawaii). It somehow seems more real. So I also think that Alaska wont make big difference to me if there wouldn't be ATC, real weather ...

I like Flight. But expecting much more from it.
