I was just thinking how interesting it would be to see what DLC people had downloaded. For example, if this poll had asked "Have you purchased Hawaii?", "Have you purchased the Maule?" , "Have you purchased the Mustang?" instead of just "Have you purchased any of the DLC?" it would have provided some interesting information on the buying habits of those who've downloaded Flight.

I downloaded it and have spent at least 8 hours trying it out, and whilst I can see it appealing to some, it's not for me. I haven't and won't be buying any DLC. I will leave it installed for now but I will be using FSX as my choice of Flight Simulator until something better takes my interest. My money instead will be going towards 3rd party developers and their fantastic add-ons.My hope is that it succeeds but also Microsoft brings out an FS11 with all the features (if not more) of FSX (incl,. SDK), with at least the updated technology of Flight.

I'm actually impressed with Flight. It's performance is stellar to say the least... After FSX's dismal release years ago it's refreshing to see a sim like this perform better than it's six year old predecessor...

I installed, was never able to log in to Live for some reason, thus did not buy any dlc and did a complete uninstall.Funny thing is that I probably would have bought something if I could have, even though I would never have considered buying any of those things had they been for FSX.OK, maybe the Mustang, but from what I have seen and heard it has no cockpit, and the exterior is nothing special, so it would probably have been a disappointment anyway. To be honest, I am a bit surprised by the small amount of dlc that is available. Oh well, I can't buy it anyway...

All my FSX/P3D repaints are here on Avsim, for my MSFS repaints, go to FS.2

People who have not downloaded Flight or DLC and won't be !!Why are you here voting on a Flight forum ???
Because I can.Because it is not a poll regarding personal opinion of Flight. And just because I have no interest in Flight for myself it would be foolish to ignore what others are saying about it. This is after all a flight simulator community.Similar to yourself posting in say....the X-Plane forum area with no interest in X-Plane right?

Downloaded and bought all of the currently available DLCs.Will look forward for upcoming DLCs.As I have posted before - before getting mad at Tom for closing the forum, and saying I wouldn't be back... :-) - I have strong hopes on the future of FLIGHT and, although having been what most like to call a "hardcore simmer", I find FLIGHT AMAZING and have had some of the best times in my long simmer live playing with it.As a RL glider pilot (since 1980), I use Condor, but I do look forward for some glider DLC in the future. That would be great! One of the most remarkable aspects of FLIGHT for me is how they were able to so easily make it accessible and enjoyable for the casual simmer/player and at the same time for those who look after consistency in flight/general physics models. So far I, for the very first time in the history of MSFS, can't complain about any of the included aircraft, or record some sort of video joking about the poor flight dynamics or whatsoever, like this one I recorded long ago:

"BTW: I would really like to see an Extra as one of the upcoming DLCs :-)All the best - enjoy: FLIGHT IS GOOD! It's AMAZING!

Although i installed Flight and like the progress they made in the underlying platform, I won't buy any DLCs at this time. Why? There are currently no areas of interest for me. It would have been an interesting platform if thecoverage would be larger and it would be an open system. But unfortunately that has not happened. It's a closed system, so you will see no 3rd party addons and no freeware. At least not in the next 1-2 years, if ever. You can only play what MS offers. That is very limited and it doesn't fit my needs. I rather invest my money into FSX.

I was on the beta. Microsoft seem to have appreciated my participation enough that they sent me codes for all the current DLC. I therefore said that I had not purchased any DLC which is true and also said that purchase of any future DLC would depend on the content which is also true.If I had not been sent any codes then I would have bought the Hawaii pack and the Maule.

Hi, TomBy putting this poll in the Flight forum only you've built in a fair amount of selection bias - you would probably get a more accurate summation by putting it in the other flight simulator forums as well. Just a thought...DJ

HelloI have not downloaded Flight! yet as I had flown it quite a lot while using the Beta.I would really like to see the new game succeed as others seen to really enjoy it.But for my use it does not offer anything I can use.I have no interest in flying in Hawaii or flying small GA aircraft so the Hawaii DLC pack and the Maule are not worth buying, I would also not buy any of this content for FSX so it is not an anti Flight! thing.I have never flown a mission in FSX as I prefer to plan my own flights, so buying extra missions does not appeal to me.I like having airports in the sim that I have used in real life, so for Flight! to be of use I would like to see European content and to get that type of coverage needs third party developers, MS cannot make content quickly enough to cover areas of that size.As the Poll shows, Hawaii has limited appeal to most, If Flight! becomes purely a USA centric platform then many will not use it at all.I hate to say it but Aerosofts european content for Xplane may be the direction the huge amount of european simmers have to take.

While still a small sample and in a highly interested group the results do present an interesting finding , of those members who took the time to vote and had installed Flight that nearly half did purchase content. That figure is higher than the normal buying ratios for FSX by a fair margin, should the pattern of sales be constant throughout the market then MS would appear to have made a sound decision with their approach, I would be surprised if that were the case across all demographics but if even 10 percent did spend money they have another problem, insufficient DLC ready for their clients to explore off the get go. Betya they knew that before launch, and have been burning their way through southeast Asia`s 3D art asset producers trying to fix it.. with varied results, why ? because planes are special sort of art asset, very few companies outside FS have any experience with them, or for that matter the characteristics of each type , rather specialized. They ( MS ) may well find their outsourcing plans need to be revised rather sooner than predicted . Or so the numbers indicate to me anyway ..

I didn't purchase any of the DLC, because I was given all of if for my being a beta tester. Will I purchase any DLC in the future? Maybe, it depends on the DLC

I don't see where 38% is "nearly half", but it is telling that in a forum that is supposed to be full of people who are loving Flight, only this many people cared to buy any DLC. It would be interesting to know just what DLC was bought in what percentages.I do have all of the DLC from the beta and I have free codes for the planes for the release, but I have yet to install the release version as I don't want to uninstall the beta, even though I have not flown it since the beta closed.Still, I voted that I installed the base version, because I do have it and have spent lots of time with it. I would not buy any of the current DLC for Flight, nor for FSX, for that matter.Of all the talk in this forum about how the Store will be full of DLC on release day (Alain) there is nothing to interest many people. The DLC needs to be bought to compare the difference from the free content and so many people are doing just that. I would bet that it is curiosity that is driving the sales, not the great desire to fly in Hawaii in a Maule or RV.I might buy future DLC, but many things have to be improved in the base game first and then just the right DLC needs to be available at the right price. The probability of the stars aligning for this is probably slim to none.I am really curious about what the next DLC is going to be and when it will be released, because that will give us a better understanding of where MS is really going with this. I suspect that a lot of people will have the same reaction as many people had in the beta when they heard that the release date was going to be Feb 29. Shock.

Count me as one of the odd ones out. I have always loved Hawaii and have even lobbied orbx to consider doing it (which might even have have been a better idea if they wanted to show off what they could do, as opposed to MS)I have noted for years that Hawaii is one of the most popular fsx areas, with multiple photo scenerys, and an entire series of airports from FsDreamteam.I am ecstatic with Hawaii and only wish it was done even better. And yes I have all of the dlc.

Oui, peut-être, Chuck. There are a lot of third-party content providers in the US and Canada and making an excellent visual model of an airplane is not particularly difficult for professional artists. The flight model is perhaps the only demanding aspect and MGS has their own developers who have been working on this for many years. We can probably assume that MGS knows all of this and has a very clear and detailed release schedule for DLC and that a large amount of DLC is already finished and waiting to be released. The contrary does not make any sense at all.Best regards.Luis
