May 10, 201214 yr There isn't anything better in their class of FS add-on, end of. Sure. They´re the PMDG of GA! : Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
May 10, 201214 yr RealAir C172 will be so cool!! I have yet to try one of their planes, but from what I hear it's the best. I was never a big GA fan until now that I'm starting my PPL training, so a C172 will be definitely cool. Alexis Mefano
May 10, 201214 yr *Justin Bieber fan scream* !!!! Uff da, tone it down a little.... I heard you all the way down here in Brainerd! :) Chris Bremmer
May 10, 201214 yr There isn't anything better in their class of FS add-on, end of. +1 Whole heartedly agree Andy.
May 11, 201214 yr Yep this is a no-brainer purchase for me. I still use the piston duke as my plane of choice when doing ifr practice. I would hope if possible that the c172 have old style needle vor dials, an hsi is a little bit much for a trainer airplane(in my experience).
May 11, 201214 yr Yep this is a no-brainer purchase for me. Yes, for me as well, and this thread reminded me to purchase their Scout, Decathlon and Citabria package too.... always have been meaning to get that and just installed it now, it's got a great config tool and documentation, nice! May 13, 201214 yr Hi Chris! I am thinking of getting the Scout package too. Lately there have been very nice screenshots added here on AVSIM of the Scout over PNW. Makes me really wanting it, and with the reduced price it seems to be a real bargain!
May 13, 201214 yr Hi Michael, Yes, in regards to the Scout, it's a nice package with many different variants. I was also pleasantly surprised at the sounds, wind, engine etc. - they're very well done in my opinion. Glad I finally picked it up. :) Chris Bremmer
May 13, 201214 yr Very satisfied purchaser of the Scout/Decathlon/Citabria package here. I have a fair amount of time in these aircraft and can verify that it's an excellent flight model. Lots of potential customers ready to jump for C172 and I guess it would be good for training but so boring to fly. The Lancair is a pretty slick plane but maybe it's my old eyes, but I can't scan those teeny PFD's and still have the peripheral vision I like in a VC so it's steam gauges for me. If you do the Lancair might as well go full bada$$ and make it the turbine version. If I might cast a dark horse vote here, (and I know it's a long shot since you did the Turbine Duke), the Rockwell Turbo Commander. Fantastic take-off/short field characteristics for an airplane in it's class. A better power to weight ratio than the military Bronco w/ the same engines. Great useful load and pax luxury. Best cockpit visibility you will get without a bubble canopy. There is a reason for the strong owner loyalty and support for these aircraft. Specs 690A/B: 690B) Seats 7-10. Gross wt.10,250. Empty wt. 6,195. Fuel capacity 389. Engines 700-shp Garrett AiResearch turboprops. PERFORMANCE: Top mph 330. Cruise mph 321. Stall mph 89. Initial climb rate 2,849. Range 1,458. Ceiling 33,000. Takeoff distance (50') 1,666. Landing distance (50') 2,084. I've tweaked and converted the Veneaviones TC for FSX and it is a great piece of freeware but in my internet correspondence with a TC owner (http://flightlevelsonline.com/issues/spring10/article/tenenbaum.html), apparently the FSX flight model of the engines is based on a PT-6 and not true to the way the Garrett TPE's behave. So maybe Rob and his RealAir team would give this amazing aircraft strong consideration. http://flightlevelsonline.com/issues/spring09/article/kern.html
May 13, 201214 yr Not all Legacys have glass... I'm hoping for a "steam" gauge version like we got with the Duke... and some sort of RXP gauge :) Here's some examples... http://www.advantageavionics.com/lancair.htm | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 13, 201214 yr Not all Legacys have glass... Very nice! I like the N42DK mid page. The center stick controller, Sacred Six, and modern NAV stuff. Good combo.
May 13, 201214 yr Hi Mslim, I have good news for you. We are not great fans of glass gauges either, and personally I find them overkill for essentially simple aircraft. Our Lancair Legacy will have traditional gauges that work perfectly well, and together with the GPS and optionally an RXP instrument you have all you need for full IFR navigation, or local flying.
