X-Plane10: What's missing for you?

Featured Replies

Looks like seasonal textures, airport buildings and a more capable AI are the most requested improvements.

possible to make the cloud looks nicer? yes, sometimes the cloud look nice, but sometimes the cloud just look like a bunch of smoke.

Editable AI Traffic

Generic airport buildings

Landmarks

For me the 2 main issues are ATC improvements to use real world schedules and the capability to handle more aircraft. The main issue though is a more realistic scenery base, especially airports, and known landmarks. The plausible world model just doesn't work for me.

Thanks

To copy and paste something said before (in another order)

1: Airport buildings, procedurally generated if necessary. I'd like to be able to tour the country side of a region without having to go and download airports one by one.

2: Better ATC, with some mechanism facilitating the interactions with it during flight (Radar Contact for FSX is a great example)

3: Better Ai so that we can end up with a nice scheduled traffic.

4: Seasons

Disclaimer - I'm not yet a customer, but based on the demo some things that might be nice:

1. Improved ATC. Others have said some of this, but ATC needs to be more than follow an IFR plan without deviation. I should be able to call just for landing clearance, or be given holding instructions, and so on. Clearance should include departure frequencies (I believe this is real-world procedure). Takeoff should include clear instructions on extent of clearance (altitude and course). I shouldn't be "off course" if I am told to fly some heading on takeoff and then just keep flying it having not gotten further clearance, though a clearance to fly runway heading and then as filed is a different matter (I think that is real-world accurate). SID/STAR altitude awareness would be really nice, as would maintaining actual separation (go figure - unlike FSX).

2. Better default keyboard maps. If I'm going to interact with ATC I need to change radio frequencies fast. A super-tune button would be nice (pretend it is my copilot), but having to hit radio dials with mice is a non-starter. Take some time to think out nice keyboard mappings and ship them as defaults, and include diagrams to print. Sure, I can do it myself, but it would be nice. I'm more sensitive to this since I'm just getting used to X-Plane.

3. More AI aircraft. I don't care if they follow perfect flight models or if they just follow linear paths. Sure, might be nice if they started having perfect real-world behavior if I were close enough to actually look at them, but that is icing on the cake (that would be nicer than FSX where AI touchdowns just look fake). More AI will help with ATC automatically.

All that said, it is already a great product and has a lot of potential.

I don't want to repeat what others have said, they are all valid suggestions

I would like to launch into a flight selection interface, not just to your last flight.

More AA/AF options

and enb type plugin for open GL

support for 3d monitors with anisotropy

The weather selection interface is a little clunky and sometimes I don't really know what I am selecting.

More 3rd parties devs like Carenado making good payware planes.

and finally if someone out there could make a program that converts FSX photoscenery to XPX, I would never need anything else scenerywise.

I'm not yet an XPX owner but i'm quite interested in what the simulator offers..

1. Compatibility with all FSX/FS9 sceneries.

2. A better default FMC (could be with an updatable AIRAC)

3. Seasonal textures

- Similar to FSX, I would love to see airport terminals and hangars and major city buildings and landmarks

- A real world moon phase

- An option to remove the unrealistic AI

- Water colors to reflect real world

- ATC improvements

After three months of using XP-10, I'm very impressed and see a very bright future for it

- terrain details further than 25 miles away

- out-of-the-box integration of osm2xp ... ability to update objects continuously from OSM

- seasonal textures

LR already commented that they will not use osm2xp. let's see what the autogen update of 10.20 will produce...

my biggest wish is that they start the croud sourcing for airport buildings...

PMDG........................................................Thats all you need

Ok I understand LR is small compared to M$ but wouldn't you think it be reasonable to do the top 35-40 cities with real buildings kinda like FSX? Also not to repeat but I agree about airport selection needs changed. Finally, I again agree I would like to see auto gen buildings at the airports with gates.

The lights are dimming on FSX and only getting brighter for XPX.

Accurate Sunrise / Sunset times as well as Moon and it's phases.

Seasonal textures.

Map view with wider range of detail (presently if you zoom out you just see a rectangular sector around you airplane...) and including a Lat/Lon grid.

If not having much impact on fps, which I am affraid it will given the complexity and detail of X-Plane10 clouds, I would like to see them move with the wind, and the air currents too, either convective, orographic or combined :-)
