Possible to get a refund for this product?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to get our money back from this useless software company now that they have pulled the plug so quickly on this product? Am sure many of you are thinking the same thing. Its also incredulous how they didn't even let the development team finish Alaska and we paid for a half baked DLC! 35 great developers left in the lurch, that Howard bloke is the one who should be fired.

Wonder if this topic will last as long as Flight did :/

I think that's a very reasonable request and perfectly logical. However, I think I know the answer...

Steam has a strict no refund policy (as I found out first hand), unless you can somehow escalate the issue considering the circumstances. I know I'm not the only one who is extremely disappointed to have been sold a product less than two weeks before the project was cancelled. I made the purchase assuming there was a future for the platform, with content updates, new features and bug fixes on the way. Now that's obviously not the case and we're all stuck with a dead platform and a game that will slowly turn into a ghost town as people move on to other alternatives with active development.

I'm not sure about Live Marketplace, but I would guess they have a similar policy.

Weeeeell. Another year hammering away at FSX was good enough for me, you know, while they hammered the bugs out -- who'd have thought it would turn out to be the biggest legal fleecing the flight sim community had ever witnessed! That snake charmer Balmer must of thought it up. A little smoke and mirrors painted up as MS Flight and if this pays off, next time we'll sell 'em tickets to the second coming...

How is requesting a refund logical? Didn't you get what you were promised? Did they promise tons of things, made everyone invest in them and than pulled out? No, you just paid what you were given. Simple as that.

The best you might possibly hope for is... a refund in MS Points.

But don't hold your breath even for that.

While I have purchased everything for Flight, with the exception of a few cockpitless aircraft - and pretty much paid full price for all of it, I do not feel cheated in any way. I got what I paid for, and have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of it. All for a total price less than a nice dinner out for my wife and I. Pretty good deal in my mind.

And should I choose, I can still get many more hours out of the product I have purchased. Remains to be seen whether I choose to do so things being such as they are. There just won't be any new content to purchase going forward, with the "maybe" exception of one more aircraft they had pretty much finished prior to this announcement.

This thought of " I should be able to get my money back", has never even entered my mind, and will not. I have made far poorer choices in purchases that I regreted and even though I am greatly dissappointed by the end of Flight, I have no regrets in purchasing it and am grateful I have gotten to enjoy it this long.

Agreed.

And in the long run who knows... if what Flight has left turn out to be profitable, you never know what could happen. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I got what I payed for and I'm still finding places I've never been to and situations I can create to have fun. Sorry can't help you in your quest. Hey good luck with that, we all have a different perspective on things. I guess that's why life is so grand.

I agree. You won't get your money back, that's for sure. I always knew in the back of my mind things might end ugly. So I gambled... and I lost. Those things happen.

I wonder if there will be another blow out sale?

I might be tempted with the whole package for $10 or something...

It's just a big disappointement, shame on the responsibles of this big failure and that's all.

I wish thanx all the people here and in game. We had interesting debates and sessions, may be we will have some more.

Cheers all :)

I have gotten away with getting refunds from companies before that have had a policy against it. However, the chances are very slim with this situation.

Your best bet would be to ask politely and slowly escalate it. If that fails, file a BBB complaint and hope for the best.

The problem is that making a valid argument for a refund would be a chore to say the least. I think the majority here feel betrayed by MS for one reason or another. If I were to pursue a refund, it would not be about the money, but rather to take a shot at MS.
