Don't Buy Apple...

I wish there would be a real chrome browser added to it and not a shell that you can download.

RE Tango

Its a free app by the way, and I am sure there are probably many others. As they say: "There's an app for that"

For instance Fring, Movicha, or Skype.

Thanks HiFlyer for the heads up about Tango.

FYI, it appears to work reasonably well on both the droid and my wife's iphone, so could therefore be a possible solution. One of my reps wants an iPhone when our contract comes up for renewal, so it could work (although I am yet to be convinced that your comment about apple ecosystem "just works" based on your findings posted in this thread about iOs6   ).

The other 2 guys want to upgrade to the Sammy S3, but I am reluctant to change my SGS2 because that "just works", but there again I rooted mine and can change my IP/DNS at the touch of a button and watch UK TV live in glorious widescreen. Guess these damn phones are taking over our lives!

Apple has really stepped in it with this release. Lets hope they step out of it just as well.

- yeah maybe there the big bad company...

But the must be a reason why their customers made them into the worlds largest company. i would say most people dont care about the ' trash' at the end of the day.

quality and innovation are what people are willing to buy, over and over again.

But there many many examples through history of large companies losing their way. Apples previous history leaves them an enormous war-chest of goodwill from their previous era of honest revolution. But now they are in the era of evolution and run the risk of forgetting the things that brought them where they are in the first place.

These changes were not about a better user experience. They seem to be about corporate rivalry and maneuvering, with improved functionality for customers being a casualty. The map is a downgrade. It's now been revealed that it is either not showing (or showing in incorrect locations) much more serious things than Burger King.

You can't accept that as an acceptable cost of corporate maneuvering.

The new iOS 6 is fine, I like the new color schemes and etc., but the Maps app is horrible.

Well, there is also another problem that I am keeping track of brewing that has not reached critical media mass yet. Try coming to this site on your updated iPad (and many phones) and clicking some you-tube links.

I am not counting Apple out. I am just not counting ios 6 in, yet.

I could care less about that horrible YouTube app. The new one on the AppStore made by Google themselves is much better; you can reply to comments, thumbs up/down comments, and a much better interface. Whenever you click on a YouTube video, it takes you to the app now.

Not on many many peoples devices. People are now getting a message to download flash when they click on YouTube videos on websites

And Apple devices don't do flash.............

Really?!

I think that the new maps app is fantastic! - Integration with Siri... etc

Hmmm, my wife (God bless her) would beg to differ. But if she cant work out her way from A to B, she really does not deserve an iPhone in the first place !

There are some clever workarounds even for people without Siri! Google Chrome Works on pads and phones, and simply by clicking on the little speaker in the search bar you can talk to it almost as if you would Siri. It wont answer back, and it wont do tasks, but you can say something like "Riverside Church, Manhattan New York" and instantly be presented with a Google map of your query, from which the route is just a press away.

Even general questions like "What is the current time" will be answered visually.

You could also say something like "Microsoft Flight Forum" (speech recognition does not like the word Avsim)

Saves some typing and is quite cool.

In the meantime, for anyone wanting a closer look at the Apple/Google spat , I thought this article was very informative. http://www.nytimes.c...moc.semityn.www

The patent troll Apple is for freaks only. Look for ex. at that admin:

http://www.insanelym...m-linux-to-osx/

This again, huh? If you think that a guy (admin, whatever) on a Mac forum who prefers MacOS over Linux is the end of the world then you really need to lighten up a bit.
