Regretful purchases for FSX

Featured Replies

Hello

Try the Tutorial number eight from the Radar Contact manual (RCV4.pdf), it takes you through a flight from KDRO-KPVU

Showing how to request a full instrument approach.

Thanks for this but I've tried every known way and for the reasons given by Nico I don't like it or use it. I'm not saying that it's not a good program, just that it wasn't one that I liked.

  • I regret buying FSX lol

  • I've yet to make a purchase I truly regretted, but that's from being very careful. There are a few airplanes I don't fly much but I can't say that's all their fault. Most everything I've bought doe

I am never sure where the 'overdrive' versions fit in. I've not got time to read all the documentation so as to get the best out of it.

As I understand it (and I think I'm correct) 'overdrive' versions of REX products simply offer a larger range of cloud/runway/water etc textures than the normal product - so (in theory) REX Essential Overdrive would be exactly the same as REX Essential, it would just have more textures to choose from.

My only regret for FSX was buying the "Dash 8" aircraft addon, and discovering it was actually for something called "X PLANE".

If it can be used with FSX as I thought, if anyone can help me to install it, I would bestow God's blessings upon you.

Fennell, what is your avatar? I have all kinds of thoughts running thru my head.

hello, it is a fennell, the national vegetable of my country of heritage. :)

Aerosoft Diamond DA20-100 Katana 4X (FSX): Absolutely beautiful aircraft with a ton of features, but requires way more effort than I want to put into flying. Flew it a couple of times and hangered it.

Dare to ask a question on their forum and one particular individual, whom they hold in high regard, makes you never want to buy from them again (I haven't!).

Ernie

Hi,

I've had exactly the same experience with their forum. I had a set up problem with the katana and ask for help only to be told by that individual that you are refering to, banned from Avsim by the way, that I was an idiot. I complained to Aerosoft. They acknowledged that I was right and that the only solution was for me to ignore his posts. There was nothing they could do about it because they preferred to keep him on their forum. That was my last purchase from them.

Darn you! My natural curiosity led me into a merry chase into the wicked wilds of the World Wide Wasteland that's now consumed nearly an hour of precious time...

...and now I know far more about fennell (finocchio) than I really needed to know... :p0317:

Ha ha! Finocchio indeed Sir! ...... It is a little known wonder of culinary delight.

It is a herb.

I am actually mis-spelling it (it only has one 'l' at the end) due to translation error on my part, from my native language!

Well, it looks yummy.

REX. Overrated, bloated and a weather engine that should not have been included. Clouds that do not depict well, and look like card board cut outs.

You can tell I am an Opus and FEX fanboi aye!!

All of these have the same problem: instead of giving me the impression of sitting in a real aircraft (think A2A, PMDG etc.) they rather give me the impression of sitting in a cheap plastic model replica that shouldn't even be able to fly. The modelling and texturing is just not up to the standards that I come to expect from my add-on aircraft these days.

Mogwaisoft Shade

I experimented a lot with Shade but never came to any results that actually increased the visuals of FSX for me. Quite the opposite. Regardless of which settings I used it always looked worse.than without it.

/\ /\ /\ /\ ........... Wow, so surprised you'd say that about Ants Tecnam. I find it a really immersive and high quality aircraft. But of course, each to their own.

The IRIS F-20: I'm not quite sure what I was thinking here, the afterburner effect they attached to the end of the engine was perhaps the fakest thing I've ever seen. It went freeware 3 months after I bought it, frustration mode: on.

QW 757: I just didn't like it. I rarely fly a 757, and when I do I'm (amazingly) biased to the CS. The times it works, I love the CS. QW just didn't click with me, that is all.

Virtavia B-1: another impulse buy, around the time of the F-20. About a month ago I flew it for the first time ever, even though I bought it mid 2010. The VC has about 28% clickability, which is way past my bar of functionality. Just bleh.

I initially hated myself for buying the A2A Spitfire, as I hated old warbirds, but it grew on me quickly, and the Spit and the Mustang are some of the most flown birds in my hangar.

Can't speak for the others, but I love the Quest Kodiak! I'm very surprised. Each to his/her own.
