January 4, 201313 yr I'm with the 'In Denial' gang. Can wives see this thread? The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
January 4, 201313 yr And what proportion was spent with Microsoft on FS itself? Hello I spent as much as was possible with Microsoft to the point where they did not have any more product to sell me. That's all any of us could do, Microsoft themselves chose to ignore the addon market otherwise some of that £5000 on flightsim addons could have gone to them. Their loss
January 4, 201313 yr I'm with the 'In Denial' gang. Can wives see this thread? I sure hope not. This thread is grounds for a divorce if She ever know how much mileage my card got out of these FS sites...lol William Sequeira
January 4, 201313 yr I installed FSX in September 2010 and usually buy two to three sceneries a month (let's assume $60 USD per month). Other add-ons I bought are ASE and PMDG's 737 NGX and MD-11X. I use it frequently enought to justify these expenses. January 4, 201313 yr Almost $50.00. Of course, it is early morning on the 4th of January. The OS didn't ask for a total to date, thank goodness. This is my total for the year. I guess all those bowl games kept me offline and not buying stuff. Christmas was real espensive last year with all those hardware and software sales starting in early November. It seemed like a two-month long Black Friday sale to me. Using my wife's logic, I saved a ton of money. But, look at all this must have new stuff that I haven't even installed yet. January 4, 201313 yr Lessee, add it all up... $ 545 in software $ 620 in hardware $1165 total That includes FSX itself but doesn't include non-FSX related stuff, or my existing joystick bought for another game (another $120 if you want to add it). It also doesn't include a new computer and other hardware that I would have had to purchase anyway, like a new monitor when my old one died, or a replacement mouse or CPU fans. Note: this ONLY includes FSX. There's no way I could figure out how much I spent on all those flight simulators in the early days. I do have my original receipt for FS1, $39.95. January 4, 201313 yr Hello I spent as much as was possible with Microsoft to the point where they did not have any more product to sell me. That's all any of us could do, Microsoft themselves chose to ignore the addon market otherwise some of that £5000 on flightsim addons could have gone to them. Their loss True. But let's not forget Microsoft provided the basis of our hobby very cheaply - about £50 every few years. Gerry Howard
January 4, 201313 yr My spending total? I don't count my computer, since I use that for a variety of things. I estimate in addition to FS9 and FSX, I have about twenty add-ons averaging $25.00 apiece. So that's a good $500 in addition to the cost of the sims. Dollar for dollar, the best entertainment money I've spent. I'd say I visit a good 3/4ths of those add-ons on a regular basis. John
January 4, 201313 yr And MS have now left the hobby, as I have myself. Unfortunately for them they still have nothing to sell me as Windows 7 is my last PC operating system. Their latest operating system holds little interest for me, so for the first time in nearly two decades MS have disappeared from my radar
January 4, 201313 yr In the past two months, $6,500, but that was an all new pc and cockpit plus a lot of add ons. I actually tracked the costs because next year I have to sell the whole thing and wanted to know what it's worth.
January 4, 201313 yr I'd have to say between hardware and all software FS related, around $20,000 over the past 17 years of flight simming. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
January 5, 201313 yr Since 1998....it doesn't bear thinking about. But what the heck, if it wasn't on this it would be something else. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
January 5, 201313 yr Good God, what are you riding?? Ian It is an Aprilia850 but the parts on the bike are worth more than the original bike... Forged wheels that weigh less than the tires on them (makes the bike feel 100+ pounds lighter at speed, brembo monobloc single piece calipers, fully adjustable front and rear suspension off an RSV4 race bike, you are talking almost 15k right there between wheels, brakes and suspension... It adds up quick, just like FS addons LOL  Guess :-) Beautiful!! Is it static or full motion? Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
January 5, 201313 yr Over a period of more than 15 years....more than likely an amount equal to the Greek National Debt. :LMAO: :LMAO: in the past 12 months, a total of around $4000-$5000 on payware for fs9/fsx/xplane10. I think drug addicts spend less on illegal drugs
January 5, 201313 yr Beautiful!! Is it static or full motion? It is static, sits on top of rectangular pedestal. It can be taken apart in 4 large pieces, the 2 sides, the centre and the seat can be taken out. As of now, only the controls and sound is working, it is still a long way before it is fully operational. Despite that, with the subwoofers fully open it is already an awesome experience B) B) :t4020:
