Airbus X Extended Released

Featured Replies

Thx Scott. This is the first AC I've seen this done. I much prefer clicking.

It's actually quite good when you get used to it. There is a click spot on the inner altitude knob, that will switch the intervals from hundreds to thousands. So all you do is adjust altitude by scrolling with the wheel, when set left click (Push) to set managed mode (VNAV) or right click to set s open mode. (Similar to FLCH).. Actually most addon aircraft uses this method as well. The only difference is they provide both methods, the Aerosoft AB only uses the mouse wheel method.

Thanks

Tom

It's not that I don't doubt its functionality, the only reason i'm not a lover of the wheel is because I have limited dexterity in my fingertips due to an accident many years ago, and the physical action of push click to adjust values, is significantly easier than extending & retracting my index finger.

I don't understand why people compare it with the NGX! Off course your not going to like it if you compare it with something that its not! It says right on the description before you buy it that it tries to simulate the day to day operation of the aircraft, nothing beyond it!

This bird truly isn't a Boeing (NGX), and those who expect it to behave like one will be (and are) disappointed.

Here's some real life experience with the real Airbus that, for me, puts things in perspective...very interesting reading: http://ryanthepilot....rbus-pilot.html

Excellent article and Ryan explains things well - this should be mandatory reading!

The reason why so many compare to the NGX is because thats the benchmark of simulation they expect from any addon, irrespective of price. The other issue is, some seem to think that all aircraft are flown like the Boeing 737 and get annoyed when they can't fly the Airbus like the Boeing. So instead of taking the time to learn the aircraft, they throw their toys out of the pram and say it is rubbish and say 'I will delete it' and wait for the FSL version. Surely, if you can't fly the AS Airbus because you don't understand the systems then you are hardly going to be able to fly the FSL version. What a strange world we live in!!! lol

I read that thread.. IMO seems like a silly request. Sorry you are not going to get much sympathy here,

Lol I would worry more about other things as wing tips seeing as they do in real life ;-)

Shove the thrust levers into the TOGA detent, rather than FLEX TO (one notch further).

I have been and no joy. With 2 people on board, no cargo, fuel less than a quarter, only airport so far ith a long enough runway is Edwards in CA.

Chris, can you rule out dragging brakes or any axes which either spike or don't allow full travel? Did yo already post over at Aerosoft? Perhaps add a screenshot from the takeoff situation. So that they can see the panel and the indications.

Nah I haven't posted anything yet over there, just read this:

POPULAR POST!

A lot of users are falsely reporting the N1 is too low. The truth is that the N1 is accurate, and its from the Airbus FCOM, not anywhere else.

The rated N1 is affected by this three factors,

  • Pressure Altitude
  • OAT - Outside Air Temperature
  • Airspeed of the aircraft

On a Cold day, with a low Pressure altitude, a TOGA N1 can be as low as 85.1%.

On a hot day, with high pressure altitude, a TOGA N1 can be as high as 91.2%.

So, do not be alarmed if you see such low N1, if you think you cant make if off that runway, check your payload/fuel and Flap setting.

My N1 never gets above 85, and like I said earlier I've tried dumping the passengers, cargo, and gas. I don't remember having this much trouble getting the hang of the PSS A320, but that was a while ago when I had more working brain cells

They just locked my topic about seeing the wings from the cockpit with is...

"You'd have to move your camera to see it. Most customers have no idea that this possibility even exists in the sim without an Addoncamera and another big part of those doesn't know that addon cameras exist which you could use to move your position."

So the people that buy this are not the kind of people who have TrackIR, EZDOK? and FSCrew, to me they are the very kind of people who like to use the MCDU fully and know what they are doing. Most will already have the NGX.

So this product is not for them? so what was the point in making the "extended" then? The first bus was for "lite" users, so this is for lite+?

Like Phil says to many 'not quite's' for me.

Yeah, I am really starting to dislike Aerosoft...

Don't get me wrong, some of their sceneries are great, but they cut corners. A lot of corners.

A more PMDG approach where they do just ONE main project at a time is a better approach.

OMG, I would not resist not replying to this post. you are so much correct.

Nah I haven't posted anything yet over there, just read this:

Ok, maybe I've misread your post.

You were saying that you need a (very) long runway to take off, even with a very light load. So I would assume that you either don't get enough thrust or that the thrust is ok but some brakes are are applied, the spoilers being a notch out or something else of that kind. Sim problems.

The post you've mentioned from the Aerosoft forums just explains the low displayed N1 values. It does not explain that the AXE can only fly to and from Edwards. ^_^

So, after checking all those axes on your rig and making sure that nothing is breaking or spiking while you want to accelerate, the Airbus should take off after a reasonable distance. Even more so on a light load and normal day.

If this isn't the case, something is wrong and the devs may need all the data they can get to help you. A screenshot is a good start.

Hey thanks for trying to help me out and Merry Christmas btw. Ok hardware wise I'm golden (building commercial flight sim facilities gives one a good grasp on the hardware side of things :) We had a guy working with us as an advisor in the beggining stages of Flightdeck Air Combat Center who fly's the Airbus for United. I'm gonna give him a jingle and see whats going on. There is just not enough power on a TOGA takeoff to get off any but the longest runways. For now its back to the Superbug for me, only 480 pages more to go whoo hoo

You like them FBW birds, huh? ^_^

and Merry Christmas btw.

Thanks. Same to you.

Could anyone give me the mandatory things I need to do to get the engine started? Forget about Push back and what not,.

I tried following the step by step and I can't get to the next stage. I tried one of the videos on You tube.. and

I did the following

1) Cold and dark state started (Eveything is off...except a green light on Ext pwr button

2) I press Bat 1 and Bat 2

3) Ext Pwr

4) I press on all the lit pumb buttons 6 of em

5) I turn on the lights Ovhd Integ Kt

6) I then turn on the 3 IRS to NAV position

7) I turn on the PFD and ND on ( the left front panel)

Here is where the issue. All I see is red stuff MAP NOT AVAIL (The person on the you tube video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RE2X3j3WxMk

does it and it comes on good

8) I turn on the ECAM and Lower Display and they both turn on as expected.. But I see IR IN ALIGH 1 MN.. but after 1 min nothing changes..MAP Not avail is still on the PFD and ND still RED all over

8) Now I just want to start the engines. I click on ENG 2 to ON and do IGN START. But the engine does not come on.

Any ideas?
