Airbus X Extended Released

Hummm, I don't believe you; you are still a future owner of PMDG 737NGX.

Yes, old signature. Right now.

However, I wait for future patchs because this add-on can be good !

a+ :)

I'm on my second flight and reasonably happy - still learning though

I'm unable to adjust IAS, HDG, ALT or VS. I can push and pull but not turn anything with the mouse.

Has anyone else seen this?

Should say all other aircraft operate ok.

With the cursor showing as a hand, like you were going to push or pull it, move the mouse wheel and see what happens.

Localizer and glide slope locked, I extended my flaps to 1, the plane pitches forward and auto thrust accelerates. I subsequently am above the glide slope and can no longer land. Did I extend flaps too soon? When is it the right time to extend 1, 2, 3 and full?

And why in in the airbus do you have to extend to full and in the the 737 only 15 degrees on most landings (depending on runway length, conditions)? Is this because of the wing design?

Hi, I have also noticed this when setting up wing views, however have not had time to investigate this- it could be connected to the Extended's own view system, not sure....

Thanks, Bruce.

Thanks for the info Bruce. After doing a little more messing around with it today, you have to double click whatever keystroke or joystick button you're using only the first time to switch from a non-EZDOK camera view to an EZDOK camera view. As long as I stay in EZDOK views, which I have several, a single push does it. I'm glad I discovered the SHIFT-7 shortcut to display the FMGC as I now have another joystick button freed up to program.

Good to know, thanks Chris. I can't believe after buying and installing this bird several days ago that I am only getting to fly it tonight.... have to do something about that "work" thing....... grandkids, inlaws and outlaws arriving over the weekend- oh well...

Thanks :) Bruce.

So how is the smoothness for you guys with the AXE? For me its only smooth out in the middle of nowhere. Out of KSNA on the way to KSFO, using Megascenery, autogen and scenery objects on very dense, I am getting little stutters and frame drops the whole way when I look around the VC with my trackir on. I'm on a Word Not Allowed tuned FSX Gold installation, Win 7x64, Sandy Bridge @ 5ghz, 8gb ram, Geforce 670 with 4gb ram. Just flew the same route in the VRS Superbug which has a lot of logic going on too, and the sim was smooth as silk. Thinking of shelving the AXE. Smoothness is a must for me.

Seems to be a frame hog not good so I as I have said before ngx is amazing considering how detailed it is.

Right now I give it about a 7/10,

Value is very good, considering it basically has the equivilant of FS2Crew bundled.

Nice livery selection.

Novelty factor is certainly there, since the is the first decent Airbus for FSX that actually models the....airbusness.

The bad:

Not too easy on the frames

FMC is a bit painful to use (Tab entry on the NGX has spoiled me...plus some FMC screens are a bit laggy)

Occasional autopilot issues

The VC is only "ok". The parts that you interact with most are solid, but many of the other areas are quite blurry and not modeled in 3d at all (Things like the circuit breaker panels)

Only really models normal operations...no real scope for failure simulation.

Doesn't cope with time acceleration higher than 2x at all

Essentially - at the price point I'd say it's worth picking up, but I'd view it as more transition training for when the FSL Airbus finally gets released.

Take a look at the manual, you can use the keyboard as entry by clicking on the left side of the fmc, left of the numpad.

I agree with the 7/10, but I have no frame rate issues. I don't give it a 10/10 because of the

* f-keys being overridden, F9-F11in particular. (disabling the views in the right FMC doesn't change that) I can't agree with that view system, what is so wrong with a nice selection of A-key views?

* Buggy copilot checklists, sometimes they get stuck. Could very well be me not knowing what triggers it to move on.

* Copilot flap speed issues. I've also had to disable the copilot because of this.

* Still very poor VNAV, I've found myself 6000ft AGL on the localizer two dots above glideslope unable to descent fast enough to cap it. I know weather addons hurt these calculations, but that's a no-argument since others manage to do VNAV better (at least PMDG).

Then again:

* I have excellent frames on my i5-2500 at 4.6 GHz, even at aerosoft airports.

* VC is really immersive. I don't look at the rear wall that much.

* Great FBW. Feels sturdy, like you can trust it. The Wilco could suddenly do a nosedive on final, this one has never done anything outrageous, and gives you the world's first close to real life Airbus logic FBW in a consistent manner.

* Feels like it's been programmed well. I've done tons of changes on the FMC enroute, even programmed a missing STAR point by point with constraints and it didn't CTD or hang at all.

In short, well worth the money, but it has a few bugs. No show-stoppers, just remember to do a quick check of the TOD yourself to verify you'll be down on time.

For those who are having frame rate problems, have you disabled the MCDU web server option?

Seems that there is a bug that causes stutters every second or so:

I am looking at what other possible causes are there now,

since its starting to look like a web MCDU problem, can you try changing the FMGS.ini,
