March 28, 201313 yr CS is virtually unflyable. Example: KPDX-KSFO CS 707. Easy flight right? Not if a Captain Sim product. Got 3 engines started and the 4th wouldn't start so had to do a control E...I hate that. The horizontal indicator never got level in stayed tilted 25 degrees the whole flight. The AP malfunctioned. In a split second it seems the VS indicator went from -2,000 fps to +4,000 fps. The acceleration seems to be way to optimistic and the flight dynamics are simply wrong! In the AP panel in the VC and the pop up window the mode selector did not work at all. Part way through the flight I did and OPUS update on the weather and the CS 707 disappeared from the sky entirely and never returned although it was still flying I could not see the vc or the exterior model. I am so frustrated with CS. The planes look beautiful and I really want to fly them but it's simply impossible. I do not have problems with any of my other 50 addons!!! The CS 777? Don't get me started. Best comment I have seen about CS! I totally agree with you! I have never see a bad developer as CS ever, I will not ever buy a CS product again, not if their products will look 100% better than PMDG (in 100 years, maybe)! I don't know why people still buy from them and if they do they deserve their frustration, because they know that CS is a bad developer. Developers like CS must not be supported so they will stop invading the market with bad planes! March 28, 201313 yr I will certainly have both of the models when they are available. This looks like Captain Sim has been working on the 1011 for a long time. You don't build an aircraft like this overnight. Captain Sim is the ultimate master of visual textures, although it looks like JustFlight got this one right too. I have purchased the JustFlight version. I just installed it. Thank you for posting about the Captain Sim version. This is a surprise, but a pleasant one. I have been wanting even just one 1011, now we have two. JustFlight's version uses an INS. It looks like Captain Sim's doesn't use the same kind of INS. So the two versions will be different anyway. March 28, 201313 yr I supported CS during a 24h-sale with an amount of 9.99 (don't remember the currency anymore). I stopped my support shortly after their 777 v1.0 was out but it seems to me they still gain new customers ... What happened to AVSIM
March 28, 201313 yr This is a surprise, but a pleasant one. I have been wanting even just one 1011, now we have two. Like they say. Wait age's for a bus, then two arrive at once.
March 28, 201313 yr For Philip. Engines have a spesific order to start up. Artificial horizon should be uncaged before use. I Was thrown out of my planes as well when I tried Opus. It happens when You switch views if the Opus views are on use. Simple as they are, reading manuals help a lot. I eagerly await CS Tristar, I don't have to even consider the other choice. And their 737 is just marvellous. It is so strange that otherwise reasonable forum goes ballistic everytime the letters c and s appear. This thread was just the news about a forthcoming release, not a question about Jews or Christians being right.
March 28, 201313 yr CS will never go back to fix any of their buggy products that were released way too soon, why? Because it cost's them money! Why does CS repeatedly release new product before it is finished? Because they need to make more money! What will CS never get from me again? My money! How much of your hard earned money will you continue to give these "businessmen?" Just so no one thinks that I am a CS basher with no good reason I would like to point out that I have purchased the C-130 (FS9/FSX) 727 (FS9/FSX) 707/757/767/777. Do they all look great, uhm yes, do they all function, somewhat. Do I think that there is a lot of room for improvement, yes. Do I expect to get my monies worth, yes but that will never happen, CS has shown us time and again they really do not care about their customers, they have conditioned us to to purchase unfinished problem laden product... look at the post's above and the proof is there. People can and will continue to support CS' poor business practice. Have a nice day everyone. \Robert Hamlich/

March 28, 201313 yr I used to like CaptainSim, and would still like to like them. Unfortunately, CaptainSim likes to get in the way of me liking them. 777 aside (that thing is just a hot-mess disaster) their other planes are functional. The problem is they, for the most part, fly terribly. That can be gotten around on a more modern plane, like the 757/767 because you flip on the autopilot and not worry about it. However, with the 707/727/737 they don't have the sophisticated systems and flight aids, that combined with poor hand-flying characteristics makes them a headache to use. It is my understanding that most airliners are designed to be inherently stable planes, this is where CS misses so badly on their older airliners and I am afraid the 1011 will be no different. The above combined with little bugs and blemishes (the slats on the 737-200Adv for example) that are seemingly never going to be fixed, at least not in the foreseeable future make me very apprehensive of CS. Not to mention their schizophrenic customer service that teeters back and forth between good and abhorrent is enough to make me pull what little hair I have left out. I am not bashing CS, but they have some things that need to be sorted out before I can trust them again. Todd Fleck
March 29, 201313 yr There is always one thing that comes to my mind when I look at CS addons: What a complete waste of talent! The 777, the preview pics of the TriStar and most of the older releases are beautifully modelled! The VCs might be the best available, so immersive and detailed! On the other hand, the systems and the FDE on most releases, and the FMC on the newer planes are pure junk! If they could lift their systems simulation to the level of Qualitywings, their releases would be a must have! No need to do it the "hardcore way" PMDG does it. It is really a shame that so many CS releases are simply not flyable...
April 1, 201313 yr The Exterior model is released. Bought it! LOVE CAPTAIN SIM!! He's the MAN (or woman, or whoever he is... ) I'm really looking forward to the complete aircraft, but I have JustFlight's version to fly until I can fly them both. I really wanted to closely compare the exterior of the CS L1011 with that of JustFlight's. I just love the look of the L1011 and have been hoping to have one in FSX for a couple of years, so this is great having two. How good can it get? Robert Yunque
April 2, 201313 yr The Exterior model is released. Thats disappointing. I was really hoping that their habit for doing this whole part by part beta idea was going to go away when they previewed the VC as well as the exterior. Daniel Miller
April 2, 201313 yr +1 to above. Makes me very skeptical to take the plunge on another CS plane. I will still give them the benefit of the doubt, although a week from now if they release the 0.5 alpha so one can pay their way into a public testing I will be disappointed. Todd Fleck
April 2, 201313 yr Its a fun line product, so expect even lower than usual systems depth/accuracy. Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk HD Shane Gavin
