In the middle of next month, PMDG will turn 16... And the combination of having gained well more than a decade of experience moderating a forum, AND getting older and more accomplished various endeavors has caused me to realize three things:

1) The majority is nearly always silent, except on those rare occasions when you meet them face to face- and it is wonderful to see their enthusiasm for what we do.
2) The minority isn't alway noisy without reason.
3) I'm going to get yelled at no matter what I do.

 

I think #3 parses easily to cover the entire PMDG team. "We are gonna get yelled at no matter what we do." Hold the product until it is ready? Get yelled at. Release it when it isn't ready? Get yelled it. Sure, it sucks- but that is the world we live in and frankly we just ignore the drama and carry on...

Today, for example- I took the afternoon off from PMDG work (after prepping a new version and resolving 3 squawks that are my responsibility during the morning) in order to take my wife and daughter into Washington DC to celerbrate Independence Day.

 

Ryan texted me and asked if he could post a July 4th image, just as he did two years ago prior to the NGX release. I thought it was a great idea.

 

The insanity that followed does not make me angry. You have to work pretty hard to ###### me off- as I've dealt with some incredibly dishonest scoundrels in my career- and this place doesn't hold a candle to dealing with folks who would lie and steal from you in order to get themselves ahead...

 

No- it didn't make me angry- but it did disappoint me because it ruined the fun for a number of others... I don't think it is fair that Ryan or Tom should have to sit here and babysit the #3'ers on a holiday- so... away goes the update. Done.

 

The truth is- #3 is a tight little corner in which the immature, self aggrandizing, me-first, ######s live... Thoses folks aren't ever happy- and most of them aren't even aware why they are mad. They just act out because they feel it is their right and that will never change.

 

They can yell, scream, throw insults, make up drama and create all the tantrums they wish. It will not change the fact that PMDG makes simulations that are cherished by the folks listed in #1 because the products are good.  We make no excuses for their completeness, quality and accuracy.

 

Throwing insults back at the folks who live in #3 will never do anything other than create a smokescreen. At PMDG- we get back at those folks by ignoring them- and continuing to focus on thorough quality control and attention to detail.

 

If we can ship you a 777 that doesn't need ten updates just to make it complete or usable- then we all win.

 

So- all your proud #1'ers out there... stick with us... this thing is going to knock your socks off.

I do like the sound of THAT!  I'm just disappointed I missed the update.

Not sure that you meant Tom by "focus on the issue at hand". There seems to be no further indepth information on the progress of the B777 that is encouraging many of the comments. For myself I am not asking for a release date but maybe some Youtube videos of the PMDG test flight of the cockpit for instance(something that is echoed by many). Unless PMDG is not ready which will contradict what Rob said in http://forum.avsim.net/topic/412156-24jun13-pmdg-777-virtual-cockpit-preview/#entry2700499 which he claims that work on the B777 is finished.

 

Why don't we stop with the useless speculation and focus on the issue at hand?

 

 

 

Knowing who some of these folks are, I would suggest that PMDG not sell them the T7. That would be justified, I think.

 

 

 

How about you help us by reporting posts that are over the top, "entitled", spoilers, and combative? That way we CAN weed out the ones that don't need to be here ruining it for everyone else.

Well said sir. But Robert, I do ask if I'm able to simply show the 777 forum the photo. Nothing more, nothing less. I can respect it if you say no - however, I know how I'd feel if one missed out on seeing it because of others on a different social networking site. You can even just lock the topic once posted...

This is what I will never understand: People demanding updates, as if they've paid for the yet-to-be-released software several times over. If you're dissatisfied with how they've handled communications with us, your redress is to refuse to buy their product. To demand anything more is nonsense.

I gotta say, I saw many comments which weren't THAT offensive, demanding it, so, I don't want to even think about the other cpmments that were nightmarishly drawn up....

Anyone seen complaining in relation to this will get banned, simple as that. This is not an announcement of anything, we're not "jerking chains" - it's just a cool pic I took for the holiday that I thought people would like. Being from Ireland,I also have relatives and friends in the US.
