I prefer the GEX textures with Scenery Tech Landclass. In my opinion, I find the FTX textures too dark. But like everything else, what looks good to one person, can look like crud to another!

And remember, this isn't meant to replace GEX technicaly, it's meant to replace the default. And it does that very, very well. I personally find it much better then GEX everywhere I've looked (NA mostly right now) but that's to each his own. The fact that they do the entire world for almost half of what GEX does the entire world for should speak to the price (although I'd love for it to be $20 just like everyone else).

And the night environment is a revolution on it's own and it's not just the lighting, it's the textures as well. The entire globe gets this treatment. Cities finally don't look like a bright, blurry mess at night. If you want to see a comprison go look in my second link to the UTX-non Global night shots I posted at the bottom of the thread.

Is Experience X for night lighting only? Looks nice, and yes I'd like to know if it will work with FTX Global as well? Or can we use the night lighting in Experience X instead of UTX's?

I uninstalled GEX as the FTXG PDF states that to, then disable UTX lights that's it. I must say I'm impressed YSSY which is default until Fly Tampa come to the party, looked poor now the grass etc and building across the ocean look great even the backdrop of Sydney city looks great very happy here. Well worth 99AUD IMHO.

"Experience X for night lighting only" - No works in dawn and dusk also might be able to use both at the same time sure the developer who posted above the video link is looking into it.

Plus Global does not have the massive FPS hit that ExperienceX does.

Gex Europe & UTX Europe along with Scenery Tech Europe installed does work well i think. I like it. If a user flies all over the world (i don't) and at night (to use the FTX lights) then FTXGlobal might be worth it. But, yes each to there own & i think both products work well. Just comes down to your taste and use requirements.

sorry to break in, I'm currently flying in northern italy with GEX Europe and UTX. Would you recommend SceneryTech? I just visited their product page and it seems quite interesting, unless there are other landclass products anyone can suggest.

No, just the custom layer because it has custom textures. Don't do the rest. You want it.

 

 

On second thought, how would the custom layer adversely effect FTX Global? After further research with the custom layer disabled, I found I am missing alot of things like train stations, damns, etc. It appears that these custom objects have been made for certain areas/locations and dont need to be disabled. Does this seem accurate to you?

The only problem you will get with those custom things (so I have read) is that they will look bad at night because they don't really fit in then. They will stick out clearly or something like that. During the day they seem to fit in well.

Those videos look almost exactly like Global's lighting except Experience X is less varied in color and size and it destroys performance. The way Experience X renders also means the density and draw distance of the lighting is less then Global's.

If you do not want bad texture blending at night you have to turn it off.

 

During the day it's of no consequence. Personally, I haven't even noticed since I've turned it off. To me it's one of those things you only notice because you know it's there. Without it cities still look fine.
