Well, I have just been told that that feature is greyed out on the CDU and, to be sincere, this disappoints me quite a lot, the Energy Management circles are a feature of the 747-400 and 777 and can't be missing in a complete simulation.

"Told", well who ever "told" you, you better tell them to shut up and get there facts right.

Okay- someone was absolutely complaining about this not being in the 777.... Please note, yes, we're giving screenshots - but time is not on all of our sides and keeping up with the forum is becoming harder and harder. Just be patient and we'll try answer you - not going to give out false information because it's NEEDED ASAP.

Is that the strange star into Dubai? I've ran into that on my first flight from Doha and lets just say that little hop lasted a bit longer than it should have........

Common RNAV STAR or approach trans. In Europe you'll mostly have vectors to shorten it. In Dubai probably too.

The long trombone section is for ATC sequencing purposes. Once they have achieve the correct spacing between you and the preceding aircraft, they will clear you direct to an appropriate point (e.g. one of the points on extended final).

If you are flying by yourself, you should definitely cut the STAR as soon as you can because the rest of it is a waste of time.

You will notice that on most of these STARs, there is an "at or below" restriction - this is to ensure that you won't be hugely high on profile when ATC give you the shortcut.

Haven't seen anything like that in the US but my 2nd time flying from DOH I simply made a straight in approach and didn't even bother to load that racetrack into the MCDU (QTR A320).

Doha is definately an interesting port... No STARS, with all filed routes simply ending at the DOH VOR.. I have no experience directly with the area, but I assume alot of vectoring occurs rather than getting the aircraft to start the approach at the DOH aid and doing the whole procedure, and or doing a sector entry at the hold co-located at the IAF (As this would be so innefficient for the traffic levels that the airport sees).

I assume with the new airport will come new procedures, including some Arrival procedures <_<

Pull your head out of the gutter David. The beta team gets updated versions - I would not be surprised if it was a daily occurence. It might have very well been greyed out at time Kyle told us, someone from the team looked at it, thought "might as well release it" and by next day, it was working.

If Kyle said it was greyed out, I have no reason not to believe him.

I'm sorry if this question is a bit off topic, but I was just wondering if one of the 777 beta testers can simulate the deviate lines of track like 20 nm to the left of course Pic. when they have time.

Thanks\

Kyle was/is absolutely right, it was greyed out whilst the guys finalised their tweaking of it. We now have it working. We do indeed get updated versions :)

Haha - well, my facts are actually straight.  Even though I put 'currently' in italics when I wrote "t's currently greyed out," people seemed not to have picked up on that fact.

I then posted this picture after we got the new release with it functional, which again, people seem to have missed, given the discussion here.

OK,

I was wrong and jumped to the wrong conclusion. I had no idea he was taking about Kyle.

My sincere apologies to everyone.

Sorry.

No apology necessary (to me anyway - not saying you should apologize to others, but I only wanted to speak for myself to say that I don't feel wronged in any way).

Your initial reaction, though somewhat incorrect, makes sense looking at it on its face given that you knew the feature is actually simulated.

No offense taken.  You know me...I'm not one to object to people attempting to make sure the proper knowledge is out there - bluntly or otherwise.
