August 26, 201312 yr Most likely a warning to give us a rough timeframe, and I'd expect at the very last minute of that timeframe the product will be released. The process would typically be (from the NGX experience) RSR making an announcement of a very rough timeframe, in the resolution of days Hundreds of replies to that post saying thanks etc Hundreds of potential customer read into every punctuation of RSR's post and find dictionary or other credible source of reference to define this timeframe; ie. what a day means, what time frame we are talking, speculations on when during the day it is etc At the end of the rough timeframe, the AVSIM becomes EXTREMELY slow Once released, PMDG website and AVSIM are virtually unresponsive, and something like 12-hours later, you can actually expect to access a page where you can make a purchase (given that no competitors are trying to take PMDG servers down again) After your credit card info has been submitted, and you are awaiting for a confirmation email, a second feels like a day... Something like that... Brilliant!! That did make me laugh Keithy George
August 26, 201312 yr Hopefully. We could always tighten things down further. You know, like allowing access to the forums for only those members that have been here 3 years or longer. Hey Tom, I'd be fine with you locking down the forums only to members with 11+ years. :Big Grin: Regards, Steve Dra Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
August 27, 201312 yr We've made a ton of investments that we hope will prevent this situation this time around. Obviously we can't predict with 100% certainty but the new system has held up to load tests many times greater than what we experienced with the NGX release, even including the DDoS stuff. PMDG was attacked!!? Flying Tigers Group
August 27, 201312 yr I just find it hilarious that people need to have this thing IMEEDIATELEEEEZ!! Like 1 or 2 days later is completely out of the question. August 27, 201312 yr We have taken a lot of steps as well that, when the time comes, will allow us to "fine tune" performance. We have also removed guest reading of the forums, which in itself will be a tremendous resource saver. I could be all wet, but right now, we are pretty well set for the onslaught. It's pretty crazy that even AVSIM goes "down" or slows massively when the PMDG birds fly the coop, eh? All ya gotta do is check their website! But I guess we wouldn't know when to check if it weren't for AVSIM, What a crazy lil hobby we have got.
August 27, 201312 yr Meanwhile... the wise amongst us will be sitting back, chuckling to ourselves at the shenanigans, waiting a few days for the dust to settle. Then we'll jump in and download the T7 with ease. Yes, Martin, I'm with you in this, but that's going to be a long 'few' days' and really stretching patience for us. Johann Johann van Rhyn

August 27, 201312 yr You do not know the half of it.. And I don't even want to know a quarter of what you go through Tom!

August 27, 201312 yr I'd imagine that if there was information regarding the people responsible it's internally know to PMDG staff. I don't recall there being definitive proof released pointing a finger at the alleged. If I remember correctly, it was let known that the attacks came from China and then assumptions were that it must be a competitor. Fact remains, directly following the NGX release came the DDoS attacks. That's how I remember it going down anyways. That was such a childish mess... -Cory -Cory Crabtree
August 27, 201312 yr I shall be waiting at least one week after the launch before purchasing. The ones that grab it, as soon as it comes out usually find they have a corrupt download, due to the amount of traffic. Dave Taylor
August 27, 201312 yr ... or lowly, hard working, staff ??? OK, how do I make staff in two days? As an aside, I would be glad if the release happened within hours, as I will be off for something like 18 hours, maybe enough for the first wave to pass. --Peter Fabian
