September 24, 201312 yr Paul, am I right in thinking that this fixer/DX10 does not work Vsync with two monitors in fullscreen mode? Cheers... September 24, 201312 yr For the record, I solved my problem of lighter areas of water looking purple by activating DX10 Optimised water in the REX Essential Options menu! I still think that the water texture itself looks rather "flat" when compared to the nice wave animations I was getting with REX "Sparkling" water in DX9 mode, but it's possible that I need to make further adjustments. I can't get dx10 water to even look remotely as good as in dx9. Like you stated, "flat" is a good word to use. Plus I'm not even sure wave animation is really even working. I have dx10 Optomized water in REX set, tried 32bit and DXT1 texture settings. I tried almost every texture REX offers. Its all more or less flat. edit: Almost forgot to add that I flew at about 500 ft off the deck and switched winds from 0 knots to 36knots (max in fsx weather) and saw no real perceivable changes in wave direction or white caps. September 24, 201312 yr Well, thanks for the tool. But Aerosoft Airports like EDDM or German Airports 2 are still white at night. I pushed the Legacy Slider to the left, but that doesn't fix the textures at night. Any chance to get them working? FTX Global Light and the other things works great ^_^ I cannot confirm this, for me all textures are fine at EDDM and other Aerosoft German Airports at day and night, incl. AES and AES-lite. Only the PAPI-Lights are not illuminated at daytime (Legacy slider one left, ballast-light added). So I´m very happy with the Fixer, thank you Steve for your great work and you, Paul, for your wonderful and patient support!!!

I do not have REX so i can't advise you in specifics, but is there a way to turn off REX water animations or prevent it from installing them? September 24, 201312 yr Yes, I am starting to suspect that this might have to be done in DX10 mode. I will experiment a bit, and see what I can get. On a side note, I would be grateful if someone could let me know how to get my AI plane navigation and strobe lights back. My FSX skies look empty without them! Try turning off effects and see if they come back. If they do then it may be invisibility passing down which hits the nav lights without the effects fix. The solution is to re-enable effects and add a ballast light to the end of the aircraft.cfg of your plane. Its in the manual somewhere. My FSX Analysis Blog

Try re-installing your REX water without DX10 optimized animation, and disable water shader from the Fixer. You might want to disable the water shader first and then start FSX so it can be configured before you install your new water. Just to be safe. Nature Boy

September 25, 201312 yr I just did another test. Doesn't work during the day but ok at dusk/night. I'll check. PAPI is OK, but AA is very, very bad on Madeira X. 13600KF - AIO - 32GB DDR4 - RTX4070 - UW1440p GSync - USB DAC - 2TB NVMe - Windows 11 Pro - Gladiator NXT EVO - 1 Gbps Fiber - MSFS 2024
September 26, 201312 yr PAPI is OK, but AA is very, very bad on Madeira X. Thanks for testing. Do you have DX10 lights and effects enabled from the fixer? Something ain't right with mine. I'm also running V1.20. I'm going to keep testing. Maybe I need to delete my DX10 shader cache or something. This is weird. I can't really comment on AA because I use 8xCSAA only and I sit about 9 feet away from the display, so I can get away with lower AA. Nature Boy
October 10, 201312 yr That's a loaded question and depends on too many personal factors. Are you happy with DX9? Do you feel $34 is fair for a 'patch'? Is excellent anti-aliasing important to you? Do you own addons that this patch still does not fix 100%? Do you suffer from OOM often? So I bought it. Indeed, I Can`t leave without DX10 anymore. At least fixed the FTX Global lights.
October 10, 201312 yr Commercial Member Wouldn't that involve adding a "ballast light" to every single AI plane in my database? There are a heck of a lot of them... No - its the plane that you are flying that needs the ballast light. As I have said there may be a better solution, but at the moment the effects "fix" has the undesirable side effect of reducing visibility of AI aircraft. The previous per aircraft technique of adding ballasts doesn't cause that issue, but is a lot more work. The probable solution is to merge the ballast light with the standard nav lights and exclude them from the effects conversion. My FSX Analysis Blog
