You don't have the hifi banner anymore. Not a beta tester now?

I see it. Don't know what the problem could be. Yes, I am still a beta tester.

Guys, when you see html code start to show up in your posts like this example, do not use the quick reply function. Hit the quote or reply button AND THEN click on the FULL EDITOR. For some reason, some browsers, time of day, phase of the moon, or the way you are holding your jaw at that time, cause the speed editor to burp up html code. Use the full editor and this should not happen.

This is all about reasonableness and expectations. Yes the performance bar will be raised and tested. Of course it will. Whats the point of doing all this work if there isny any. But we also have modern hardware. Lots are talking with their 760-780s Nvidia cards, yet I will have to remain with a 660 non TI. So I may not be able to run it max. So what.

Why?  Because the visuals will be better, rendering, CPU/GPU workload balancing, weather engine reworked, and above anything else, all the bad bottleneck code has been nearly all if not all removed, as well as a number of bugs im sure. Memory management is another huge issue thats probably been addressed. Those last 2 alone make it worth it as VAS will be cleared up. To bring more detailed and complicated scenery and aircraft?  YES!! of course. Thats what we want. The difference will be there is no memory leaks and all that memory is managed so much better. It buys a few years till they get it sorted out to do 64 bit.

To say anything else is ridiculous in my opinion. Do you really all think that LM and prepar3d as a brand would go through all this trouble for some very minor improvements? If you do, then their business plan fails and would be stupid as no commercial professional establishment in their right mind would upgrade to V2 if that was the case.

I have a simple mind so I like to keep things simple. Love them or hate them, ORBX is about the fastest growing and maybe the largest developer of flight sim products. You don't reach their position in the market by being stupid. ORBX is very high on LM and Prepar3D. That makes me think that some good things are ahead for our little community in the near future. I could be very wrong but at least my opinion is supported by the facts listed above. Please at least list your facts which lead you to your opinion.

Concerning DX11 and the wonders it is supposed to bring... Besides FSX I used to play a lot of racing games. Quite a few of them could be played with DX11 or DX9: you had the option to choose. And each and everytime I had this option, I had to use DX9 because the new features that DX11 brought into the game, made it sluggish, slow, choppy, etc.

DX11 isn't (only) about being faster: it (mainly) comes with new options and possibilities and these options and possibilities have a tendency to bring your hardware on its knees.

The last few racing games I had, which all used DX11, I could not run with 'all sliders right' on my i5 [email protected] and GTX580. So don't expect too much wonders of DX11 alone! As I said before my primary focus (if I will get P3D) will be to get it looking as FSX, so with similar settings, and running totally smooth. If I can do that (and get for instance the new not-popping up autogen) I will be happy already. Everything else will be a bonus. But I certainly don't expect being able to play with all sliders right.

Hate to put a downer on the excitement in here, but all of these new features and special effects will come at a cost. It's likely people will turn up the settings, i.e. Shadows everywhere and then be disappointed that they are only getting 10fps. Eye-candy is nice, but I think we'll end up with a sitation like FS9 to FSX, were people don't want to upgrade their current computers and continue to use the ancient software.

It reminds me of the whole release of XP-10, with it's new HDR settings and clouds. Hardly anybody could run it (when it was released), and after the initial "wow, that looks nice", they had to turn down all the settings, and then started complaining that they wish it was like XP-9 again :-)

Man where do I start....

Are you a BETA tester Alain? No? Then how do you know that? Is a BETA tester violating their NDA to tell you details of the simulator? Are you passing along impressions from a third person - your opinion based upon the other person's opinion? Has a BETA tester violated their NDA and allowed you to actually fly the simulator? I liked to know the answers to these Alain, and I am sure everyone else here would too.

Tom, and this is whit all due respect, in a PM (because I did not want to ask on the public forum)  I asked you some questions and I did not get a single answer, I am sure others or some would have liked to get the answers if I had asked them here including me, BUT you expect me to answer your questions just because you asked?

What's wrong with telling peoples not to buy on the day of release and wait for a review first? Whom do not want to wait for a review first just have to knock themselves out for what I care.

You'r a smart man Tom but please don't play me for stupid,  IF and I said IF I received, was told, saw or else by a P3D beta tester or someone in the know from a 3PD or in P3D itself anything related to V2.0 do you really think that I will come here and spell the beans on them knowing full well what would happen?

I hope this answer your questions.

Maybe this discussion about performance and the impact of the GPU may lead to a decision of LM:

Why not limiting the new features in a first release? If the full program is developed to (later) perform well on two Titan in SLI (or higher) then why not limiting the eye-candy features (like cloud shadows, etc) for 2.0? They can be released in two years in 2.1 or 2.2 when we all have upgraded our hardware and are happy users of (at least) one Titan. Maybe this is one reason for a beta test?

Having said this: We also have to bear in mind that P3D is (also/primarily) intended to be used by professional flight-simulation-providers. It is a smart decision of LM to give them the possibility to max out the settings by choosing one (or later: two) Titan GPU if money is not of that big relevance. In case you build up a professional fixed-base-simulator that costs you 50,000+ USD than the price of one (or two) Titan is not the big deal. And given the speed with which the prices drop in two years a GTX 780 will be standard anyway.

Beside this I would be disappointed if 2.0 could be handled at 30 fps at any airport in clouds at full settings by my 2600K @4.4 Ghz and the GTX460 (1GB) that I am running. But hopefully a 670/770 will help for the first time and can be accompanied by another one later once SLI is implemented.

Just my two cents!

Five hours later and no response... Maybe the neighbors down in Ft. Lauderdale are having a late brunch, trying to figure out how to get out of this pickle?

Truth be told, Alain is just parroting what's been written in a payware forum, by a developer who has a vested interest to slow down any movement towards P3D, unlike their competition who has embraced P3D.

Funny how the twisted little "exaggerations" all build up to ensnare those pushing their agendas.

Five hours and you'r getting all worry....the delay is because I have someone who put honey on my bisquet from time to time so excuse me if I'll take that first instead of answering questions here ..

Edit: By the way, I just went saw and read what you are talking about, I have nor do my opinions have nothing to do with that payware forum, that's a miss from your end.

As I said before there is a feature that was taken from P3D unless they changed their mind (doubt it though) and it as to do with your screen and also tearing so let see if I was just parroting when V2.0 is released.

Nothing wrong with waiting Alain, but having read almost every review in english, german, scandinavian and french on flight sim products that I have bought for the last 10 years I have learned that reviews are rarely valuable pieces of information. There are two or three reviewers out there who's opinion I trust, but the rest of them mostly create worthless torrents of words and screenshots. The community - for the lack of a better word - tend to love and hate the same things, so I buy and try for myself. That is really the only way to get an informed opinion on the product. The only thing that will keep me from buying at day one is the possibillity of server breakdowns. I don't have the patience for it!

When you start giving the same courtesy to our moderator's PM's, I will do the same.

Now, on to the big boy discussion... If you are not privy to NDA material or the V2 itself, then my question is simple really; how do you know enough  about this release to form an opinion? Why are you so distinctly negative about it and then, as a result, being so publicly a "debbie downer" in this forum? Are you telling us that your opinions are no more than conjecture? I am not pro or con with P3D V2; I know nothing about it, and have absolutely no basis from which to make judgements about it. So, what is it; do you have information on V2 to substantiate your concerns, or are you simply expressing an opinion that that has no basis in fact?

Tom is spot on, why would someone be a downer on an upcoming software release.

After reading what ORBX and Hifi are saying, I would be willing to bet the release will be exciting.

If Alain doesn't have a hidden agenda, his posts sure read like he does!

His posts also clearly imply that he has insider info regarding P3D v2.
