I'm not seeing cloud cover as it should be. Just to make sure I'm doing it right, you don't have to set weather to user defined, right? Sitting at KORD there should be scattered clouds and lower viz.

  • $50/$30 and no textures..  Gotta pass on that..  Did the same for Opus.. Weather depiction alone isn't worth that much to me.. AS2012 will stay

  • Yesterday I tried to make a comparison between ASN and Opus. I have been using Opus with full satisfaction for the last year and I was curious to compare it with ASN, after all the hypes and comments

What does ASN report on the Conditions page for KORD? Just looked at KORD, it says Clear below 20K and 10sm visibility currently.

Thanks

It's probably the issue I had. In cloud options click Enhance Overcast.

If you're using live weather ORD is unrestricted viz and rather clear at the moment.  I'm currently enroute there so we'll see in about an hour!

Actually that is what OPUS does backwards. The way it should be done is the way EZDOK does it. In DHM mode EZDOK creates the shaking in direct reaction to the motion of the aircraft itself. So if the plane is experiencing turbulence, the plane is already bouncing around, EZDOK justs simulates he corresponding movement that the pilot would experience, based on that movement. This is the same principe A2A uses with there AccuFeel product.Only in RND mode is artificial camera shaking generated. In OPUS it generates additional movement of the aircraft to enhance it's effect. This may look ok in the cockpit, but the plane will be bouncing  around more then it should. A camera view system effects should react to the plane, not the plane react to the camera. Also EZDOK handles TrackIR as well.

But it was created by a real pilot in a Boeing 737, using real accelerometer data from a 737. I have used Ezydok for may years, but I find Opus cams the most realistic.

The weather dictates the movement, it is tied into the DHM and "Bump" aircraft. Ezdok imho simulates turbulence movement,  using Opus, you experience it how it would be in a real aircraft.

You don't say you have  a copy of Opus ? Do you ? And if you do, what version ?

So it will be completely wrong if I'm flying a Piper Cub?

C'mon  Larry, you know  GA planes were used as well, and you know Stephen is a real world pilot. You poked around the Opus forums enough to know this.

Sorry.  Actually I don't know.  I've been wondering how they did it for quite a while now.  This is the first time I remember seeing anyone say which aircraft was used.

LOL. I thought you knew, and you thought i knew.  I think Stephen used his own plane, cannot remember the model, but looks like the Realair Legacy

Wow!! This is the best sim purchase/upgrade I have made in a long..long...while.  Flew KMIA to SAEZ.  Flew through the tops of a South American thunderstorm again...and then another one near SAEZ.  This really is as real as it gets..just wow. You owe it to yourself to give it a try.  Trust me.

You better do otherwise ouch

But the beauty in the sim we can however we shouldn't ;-)

Anyone fly the HUD in Dino's T45?  It seems to be affected by ASN's low visibility in IMC.  The HUD brightness fades in and out...   can someone check?

I'm also seeing two anomalies with ASN...  The weird four squares and repeating clouds (I've seen the repeats with OPUS), anyone know what that is from?

I have an issue of pressure not being updated to FSX. The interface says 30.24 at ORD and in the NGX within FSX it says 29.92. OPUS entirely disabled. Also, the XGauge shows that I'm at KDPA not KORD, huh?
