December 12, 201312 yr Thanks Ray for the confirmation! Quite confusing all this because over at HiFi I've got some indications this might work after all having the FPs automatically loaded...hmm... I just posted over at hifi also, but, I am curious about something and can't test at the moment. The manual states that ASN needs access to the FSX machine's Documents folder. From the manual, relevant section bolded: _______________ These paths are: · The FSX/P3D main installation path (for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X = default share name: Flight Simulator X) · The FSX/P3D private application data path (for example: C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX = default share name: FSX) · The FSX/P3D documents path (for example: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files = default share name: Flight Simulator X Files) Each of these paths must be properly configured for read and write access. ______________ The issue being, there is nowhere to set this path that I can find. I'm going to try via shortcut or junction linking the FSX Files folder from the FSX machine to the client after I land. You might give it a try. Regards,Brian Doney
December 12, 201312 yr Maybe you found something there, maybe ASN needs to have the saved FPs in the default FSX documents folder. I have my FPs in another folder. Maybe I look more into this tomorrow because now I too will have some fun instead and do some actual flying rather than troubleshoot

As I said if you installed ASN locally on the FS PC everything works fine. Kostas is aware of the situation and is trying to figure out what is happening. Cheers, Andy.
December 12, 201312 yr It's not that either my plans are in the default folder. As I said if you installed ASN locally on the FS PC everything works fine. Kostas is aware of the situation and is trying to figure out what is happening. They might be in the default folder, but the issue as I see it, is that there is no way to tell the networked ASN where that folder is. The only 2 paths you can set are for appdata and the main FSX directory. Regards,Brian Doney
December 12, 201312 yr Commercial Member That shouldn't matter, this test is just to confirm that the plan is getting imported to FSX by EFB, just open the kneeboard and confirm the nav log matches your EFB plan. I know EFB can send a Plan file to FSX, ready for loading, but I didn't think it actually loaded it into the sim too. ASN (like Opus) detects a plan being loaded in FSX and auto loads it for itself. EFB is promised to do this too, in version 2 (?). So then all you need to do, for these apps, is get your planner to send the plan to FSX, load it in FSX, the both EFB and your weather program will use it. [LATER] there is no way to tell the networked ASN where that folder is. Ah, that could explain the problem for Networked users of ASN. This needs reporting to HiFi! December 12, 201312 yr Commercial Member In the [General] section of fsuipc4.ini I have the following entry:- ASNplanWx=\\NONFLYING\ASN_Weather NonFlying is the PC where ASN is installed. On that PC you have to share the following folder... C:\Documents and Settings\Usernamet\Application Data\HiFi\ASNFSX\Weather Where Username is your account. I named the share ASN_Weather. You can call it what you like as long as it links up with the entry in fsuipc4.ini. Looking the the elements in this "sub-thread" I think there's some misunderstanding going on here, perhaps a result of not reading each word in the FSUIPC changes document? All this is only relevant if you are also assigning a button or keypress to the ASNweatherBroadcast control in the dropdown, and running something like the example TextMenu.lua plug-in on a WideFS client PC. It's all about getting a summary of weather data for your filed flight plan displayed on a screen on another PC. You still need to get your plan loaded into ASN first, and the way I do it is by getting the plan loaded into FSX, using the Radar Contact start favcilities in Wideclient, like you, Ray. December 12, 201312 yr ok that's it, you got me. After testing the second time flying real time from LAX to Honolulu, this weather engine is much better than OPUS and i thought OPUS was great. It is almost the same, but the one that did it is the smooth change of the weather during update, my PFD doesn't violently jump and clouds do not pop up suddenly. I will take advantage of the free seven day demo and do more testing, but definitely this will be my weather engine for the upcoming PMDG777-300ER, QW B787 and among other goodies. Great job ASN team... Kin M. (Klax)

December 12, 201312 yr Commercial Member Might have missed something obvious but what exactly is it that this latest version of FSUIPC address and what will adding this line in fsuipc.ini accomplish? I'm currently using version 4.9.2.0 of FSUIPC with FSX and ASN and without any issues There's nothing in FSUIPC 4.92 that conflicts with ASN. the only changes (which are listed in the Changes documnet), are the suppression of errors being logged which are caused by ASN grabbing the hooks into the FSX weather system which FSUIPC uses for smoothing, and some additional facilities for showing the route weather on a Wideclient PC. There's a newly discovered problem with FSGRW if it is used on a system on which ASN is installed, because it uses parts of FSUIPC which needs the hooks taken by ASN. Those hooks are taken by the loaded Module 9DLL.XML) and might still be in place even without ASN in use. I will be releasing a further update (4.925) to deal with this within the next day or so. Still testing at present. If you ever want some support or have questions on FSUIPC over in my Support Forum, that will be the time i would expect you to first install the latest version at that time. I cannot really support old versions. other than the question I had higher up in this thread how to make ASN autoload the same flight plan I load and activate in EFB but it was later confirmed this won't work in a networked install in the current ASN version. I think there might be some misunderstanding going on there. I use EFB as well, and I know it can be made to send plans to FSX. But it doesn't load them as far as I've found.. All it does is generate FSX plans and place them in the FSX Documents folder ready for you to load. ASN has a facility for automatically loading plans which are loaded inot FSX, and it does it very well. OpusFSX has the same facility, and it is also promised for EFB v2. Not that loading a plan in FSX does not in any way mean you have to actually use them in FSX. Regards Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. December 12, 201312 yr This seems counter to Jackson's experience, where with ASN and Opus Live Camera/DHM enabled, there was no indication by the aircraft's instruments of turbulent weather conditions. More testing needed, I suppose, to better understand the synergy between addons in this case. To get indication on instruments, you need to have Turbulence enabled in FSX. It is tied in with "Wing Flex" and "Bump" aircraft modes in Opus LC, which also must be enabled. December 12, 201312 yr Just had the most thrilling approach and landing I ever had in FSX!! I made it down on the ground in one piece but I still now after I landed feel a bit shaken up. The reason was severe turbulence... The flight was from EDDT-ESSA and when descending through 4000ft I noticed how the aircraft (PMDG NGX) started to fight real hard to stay on track and speed. This went on all the way down on the ground and when I was on short final I thought to myself...wow...I wonder how this will end. I disconnected the A/P and the A/T and again...I never ever before in FSX had to fight this way to make it in one piece down on the ground. I'm a bit surprised because I'm in the beta team for ASN so ASN is not new to me. What I did do just before this flight though was to update FSUIPC to the latest version so not sure if that maybe could explain this and that the ASN turbulence really came alive using this new version of FSUIPC. Regardless it was a very freightening but yet very cool feeling and the first time ever I was actually pleased I was sitting in front of my computer rather than in the real a/c...
December 12, 201312 yr Hi Ryan, what you've seen in the video you linked to is ASN varying the level of fog depending on the cloud thickness. Since this was night this results to a varying level of reflection of aircraft lights (as happens in real life when the aircraft moves). This is the result of ASN being able to directly control ambient parameters (including visibility), giving us the advantage of attempting such effects. This improves or destroys the immersion usually depending on the aircraft, specific fsx configuration, shaders etc as discussed by other fellow simmers. The resul in your video is unacceptable, but this may be also the result of compressed low video quality. Thus, drawing conclusions by just watching this video is not advisable IMO. Other users can also test a similar scenario (night and in cloud fog) and based on the feedback, we may adjust/improve this (or even introduce an option to disable it if needed). Thanks Kostas Terzides ASN developer Thanks for the response. Although the video is highly compressed that strange orb thing looks about the same in-game. But now your explanation tells me why it happens, and roughly why the Dino T45 HUD fades in and out. Question: If that effect were gone would we still have the nice IMC and transitions to/from? Or is that fading the primary part of transitioning from VMC to IMC? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

It works across a network too, I tested that earlier today. It's just ASN when on a remote PC that has the problem seeing the plan EFB outputs via Simconnect, it works fine when ASN is local to FS, just not on my laptop. And yes its been reported early this afternoon. Make sure you have the option load Garmin GPS plan or (words to that effect) enabled in the EFB data provider. I'm currently using a beta version of EFB its being updated to work in P3DV2 as well, so the wording and menu location of this option may be different, my memory fails me on its exact location in the previous builds, its there somewhere though. Cheers, Andy.

It works across a network too, I tested that earlier today. Oh, right. I didn't know that -- perhaps because I wouldn't want to use it. I want it to work in reverse, autoloading the plan loaded into FSX, like OpusFSX and ASN. I actually enter the plan into my CDU, either from PFPX or directly on the CDU keyboard. Then press a button to load Radar Contact, whereupon WideClient generates the planss for FSX and RC from the CDU data, and tells FSX to load it there. Once EFB autoloads that'll be all I'll need to do to be flight-ready, plan-wise! Currently it is very fiddly trying to use my fingertips to get EFB to load a lfight plan on my 10" touch screen on the wall of my cockpit, next ot my left ear! ;-) Autoloading the plan was an option promised for EFB v2. I asked for it about 2 years ago but sadly it never found its way into any of the interim updates. It's just ASN when on a remote PC that has the problem seeing the plan EFB outputs via Simconnect, it works fine when ASN is local to FS, just not on my laptop. And yes its been reported early this afternoon. Ah, that explains why it doesn't work for Ray. I have ASN on the FSX PC. I'm currently using a beta version of EFB Ah -- does it yet have the facility to autoload the plan loaded in FSX? That would be a super Xmas present! ;-) Regards Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. GPU: RTX 24Gb Titan 2 x 2160p projectors at 25Hz onto 200 FOV curved screen
