  • $50/$30 and no textures..  Gotta pass on that..  Did the same for Opus.. Weather depiction alone isn't worth that much to me.. AS2012 will stay

  • Yesterday I tried to make a comparison between ASN and Opus. I have been using Opus with full satisfaction for the last year and I was curious to compare it with ASN, after all the hypes and comments

Anyone notice that time compression doesn't seem to work with ASN in the pmdg 777

Or am I missing something

Thanks

I have it set at the lowest setting in the sim...60 miles. Plus, why would that matter on a clear or mostly clear day? I get it with overcast or significant cloud cover, but not the conditions I was experiencing.

please read the manual CCD is over written my ASN. So it does not matter what you set in the sim.

Read the manual.

I'm using Prepar3d 2.0 and I get an error every time I load the simulator and Active Sky Next crashes. Not sure what to do.

Really!!!.....no really! your joking...yes?

Where have you seen to install it in P3Dv2? its not made for it yet.

Just amazing how funny some of these reply are.

Are there any important current issues with ASN?

I've tried to register on their forums to check BEFORE I buy the product but looks like I can't register until after I've bought it which sort of defeats the point!

O.k. on my setup. Maybe related to specific weather/enhanced turbulence effects?

I've flown about 7 hours with ASN and the T7 and have had 0 issues.  That includes time compression up to 4x.

Nothing important on the forums for ASN at this point.

Will be purchasing tonight. Loving the trial version. Very smooth and accurate. No wind-shifts. Great turbulence effects. Have tested side by side with OPUS and definitely prefer ASN for now.

Aircraft shadows keeps turning itself off, is this something other people are getting with ASN?

Ethan Edelson

No Ethan, I've have shadows on and have done for the whole of the last 18 months of testing ASN. Are you sure FSX is closing properly after you have made the changes. FSX doesn't save any of its settings until FS actually closes. If it crashes during exit then the settings won't get saved.

Cheers, Andy.

Not in the sim but in ASN you have to set it (because ASN overides the sim) and for FPS it does matter. The WX clear in a radius of 90 miles (default setting ASN) around your aircraft ?

But in general maximum cloud coverage with to large CDD can give stutters and / or FPS loss :-)

You could have also a conflict with another add-on or software (virus software etc)...

Don't have your issue here local i think they did a great job at HiFi...

What you could be experiencing there is PMDG noted Lnav bug. At random North South longitude points, the Lnav does zig zaging at way points along the route, and time compression fails. Sometime the T7 won't zig zag, but your time compression won't work. It is not caused by weather engines.

System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A,  Intel i9-14900KF,  Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. WinWing FCU, EFIS, MCDU

I've been doing more testing for fps loss and huge fps variance.  It really happens in low visibility.  Still not sure what's causing it.  But I load OPUS and the weather loads fine, no fps issues.  Then I close OPUS, and load ASN and huge FPS variance happens (50-80%) and fps generally cut in half (locked at 30 in game).

Here's all the values under the WEATHER section of cfg if it helps:
