December 12, 201312 yr No Steve the main reason is I was told to delete them because I installed a new GPU a gtx660. Sorry mate....I was flicking thro and saw u were asking where u could get the stock shaders from...didn't pay enough attention as to why you wanted them - my bad!! Also in my haste to reply to Christoph I assumed it was to test/clear up an issue you had-prolly cos I've been following ur trials/tribulations with P3D v2 elsewhere End result for you will be the same tho'...you'll go back to stock, clear your shader cache and they'll get rebuilt when you restart FSX and you're away! Apologies if I misled. Regards Steve
December 12, 201312 yr From what I understand about how the two systems work, turbulence effects are triggered only by their own weather engine, so the turbulence effects I see using ASN are not generated by Opus Live Camera (even if Opus Live Camera is active), simply because Opus, with Live Weather disabled, does not know where the turbulence area is. I suppose that using ASN for weather and Opus for cameras only, causes Opus LC to generate effects for ground roll, engine vibrations and in general evertyhing not related to weather conditions, while the turbulence shake is generated by ASN. If this is correct, then turbulence effects in Opus are modelled in order to reflect aircraft shaking also in the instruments, while in ASN they are not. But again, I am not sure my understanding is correct. Regards Great report, thanks. The interplay between these addons re turbulence is both interesting and confusing. For months, I've been beta-testing ASN with Opus Live Camera and its DHM enabled (of course, the Opus weather engine was disabled). I've experienced turbulence, well-correlated with storms, SIGMETS, etc, along with convincing head-shake, fluctuating instruments, and associated effects. The overall effect has, by my estimation, been novel and fantastic when compared against what I've experienced before over the last several years of FSX flight. This seems counter to Jackson's experience, where with ASN and Opus Live Camera/DHM enabled, there was no indication by the aircraft's instruments of turbulent weather conditions. More testing needed, I suppose, to better understand the synergy between addons in this case. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
December 12, 201312 yr The fog behave is also tied to shader mods! But that doesn't mean that this is the reason in your case, especially if you say you are sure to not have any shader mods (I had myself shader mods installed without knowloedge btw.) The VC fog is balanced to fit for the most addons and highly depends on which addon you use. With your plane especially we have not tested it. I can only say, with NGX, 777, Dash8 etc, there is no issue. But beside this a note on the Hififorums would be helpful to give them the chance to find the right balance probably Is there an option to disable it? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 12, 201312 yr Is there an option to disable it? As far as I know currently not, but would be a suggestion you could make Hifi Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 12, 201312 yr Commercial Member Is there an option to disable it? Hi Ryan, what you've seen in the video you linked to is ASN varying the level of fog depending on the cloud thickness. Since this was night this results to a varying level of reflection of aircraft lights (as happens in real life when the aircraft moves). This is the result of ASN being able to directly control ambient parameters (including visibility), giving us the advantage of attempting such effects. This improves or destroys the immersion usually depending on the aircraft, specific fsx configuration, shaders etc as discussed by other fellow simmers. The resul in your video is unacceptable, but this may be also the result of compressed low video quality. Thus, drawing conclusions by just watching this video is not advisable IMO. Other users can also test a similar scenario (night and in cloud fog) and based on the feedback, we may adjust/improve this (or even introduce an option to disable it if needed). December 12, 201312 yr How do you change the temp from C deg to F deg? On the Current Condition screen that shows the alt, dir and speed, i want the Celsius to be Fahrenheit. Today will be my second test flight to convince me to replace my OPUS. Kin M. (Klax)
December 12, 201312 yr Temps are always given in Celsius in aviation weather reports, at least as far as I can tell from the information I found during a short research session on Google. Cheers, Andy.
December 12, 201312 yr Hi Andrew, In the [General] section of fsuipc4.ini I have the following entry:- ASNplanWx=\\NONFLYING\ASN_Weather NonFlying is the PC where ASN is installed. On that PC you have to share the following folder... C:\Documents and Settings\Usernamet\Application Data\HiFi\ASNFSX\Weather Where Username is your account. I named the share ASN_Weather. You can call it what you like as long as it links up with the entry in fsuipc4.ini. Hope that helps. Might have missed something obvious but what exactly is it that this latest version of FSUIPC address and what will adding this line in fsuipc.ini accomplish? I'm currently using version 4.9.2.0 of FSUIPC with FSX and ASN and without any issues other than the question I had higher up in this thread how to make ASN autoload the same flight plan I load and activate in EFB but it was later confirmed this won't work in a networked install in the current ASN version.

My apologies WB. My flight plans aren't being loaded as I thought. The references to ASN are in item 9 of Pete's changes to FSUIPC document but unless you're going to run a LUA plug-in it won't affect you. Ray (Cheshire, England). December 12, 201312 yr How long does the trial offer last? Really excited about this, im an long time Opus user, but ASN really looks like the game now after what I have read/seen/heard. Of course I wanna have a go, but I do not have the time before January, so does anyone know how long the offer will last
December 12, 201312 yr ASN is amazing, just bought it yesterday. HiFi just made me shelf all my other sims, incl XP10 with Skymaxx. ASN + FSX + FTX GLOBAL = is simply FS11 to me, the best, most realistic looking Flightsim...bravo to HiFi. Let's see what REX will bring out for XP10 next year because right now I'm not too happy at the realism.
December 12, 201312 yr Thanks Ray for the confirmation! Quite confusing all this because over at HiFi I've got some indications this might work after all having the FPs automatically loaded...hmm...

December 12, 201312 yr Moderator Thanks Ray for the confirmation! Quite confusing all this because over at HiFi I've got some indications this might work after all having the FPs automatically loaded...hmm... Maybe it will on a non-networked PC. But I've just chosen Edit in the plan window in FSX, pressed OK and was prompted to save it which I did but it still won't load in ASN. I'll wander over there later and see what's going on.
