April 10, 201412 yr Just a heads up. There will be a hotfix released shortly to fix the problem of when you are creating a flightplan using P3D and then you get a CTD. Will be either a Dll or some Dll's Info about the problem here. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=6344.0#postid-33667 Cheers Craig
April 10, 201412 yr If anyone is using the patcher and not the full installation, please let us know how it is. Because I really don't trust the patch will ensure a stable sim. I installed the patcher and get a fatal error in the flightplanner when I hit the OK button.
April 10, 201412 yr Anyway, at this point, the vast majority who has already purchased P3D is flying GA aircraft...can this be? Did none of you fly complex commercial airliners that are very heavy on FPS? Do you not miss them or do you still have FSX installed to fly them? Junst pondering really, as I cant get enough of my 737 NGX and Vatsim/Ivao. I've always been a GA flyer. That said, I'm trying to figure out how to get the airplanes I love to fly in FSX complete and fully functional in P3D. I fly the RA Dukes and Legacy, the Flight1 Mustang (sigh..oh well), the Carenado C-337 and a couple of others. I also use RXP so I'm hoping that the devs do Mindstar GNS integration. I'll be looking for GA aircraft that don't need RXP in the mean time...waiting for the Milviz MU2 and King Air 350i. Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. April 10, 201412 yr I created a flight plan in PlanG and opened it in the flightplanner in 2.2. I had no issue to click "o.k." and to start the flight. But good to know that the issue is fixed anyway. April 10, 201412 yr I made a previous post about cloud shadow completely crushing my fps from 60-80 to 13-20. After a good night sleep for both me and my computer, I decided to try it again, and now, no fps impact at all, even when I have it at the 20k setting. No idea what caused the heavy frameloss, but everthing seems sorted out now, Anyone using UT2 in P3D? If yes, does it work as it does in FSX? No idea what caused the heavy frameloss, but everthing seems sorted out now, That is interesting. With a few clouds, I can maintain my 30 FPS (at which is locked) easily. Yesterday, however, I tried a nice ASN overcast and my frames went down to 8 FPS. Turning just cloud shadows off, I got my 30 FPS back. Felt a bit frustrated, especially since everything looks much better with cloud shadows turned on.. Best regards, Alexander Rietveld
April 10, 201412 yr Did none of you fly complex commercial airliners that are very heavy on FPS? Do you not miss them or do you still have FSX installed to fly them? I tried the Airbus Extended from Aerosoft. It works ok, but with a heavy tubeliner the fps are more of an issue. With GA aircraft I mostly get around 60 fps, which only drops to around 30 fps in heavily populated areas. When you fly the Airbus in those lower fps areas (which you most likely will do as all major airports are located in these areas) then performance is still ok but you definetely have to turn back the sliders. I'm also anxious to see what happens to all the Prepar3d v2.2 excitement when you add heavy airports and heavy aircrafts to the mix. Most likely you either have to wait for more powerful hardware (which today does not yet exist) or you have to drop all the eye-candy of Prepar3d which then doesn't look much different than FSX anymore... But let's be optimistic and hope that developers find ways to further optimize the heavy aircrafts so that you can use them with Prepar3d including the eye-candy... And concerning your second question: I still have FSX installed, because if you fly tubeliners then Prepar3d is currently not a real alternative. No PMDG, non-optimized Aerosoft Airbus and also a lot of add-ons missing (e.g. Multi Crew Experience, which will be updated in the next couple of weeks though)... April 10, 201412 yr Anyone using UT2 in P3D? If yes, does it work as it does in FSX? Yes, it works great and without any problems but it's not supported by Flight1.

With GA aircraft I mostly get around 60 fps, which only drops to around 30 fps in heavily populated areas Thanks Carlito, for this info. I thought as much that FPS will drop when loading heavies. Yes, some might say thats because its not supported by P3D which is why...well, time will tell and I hope it wont be too long. Even sent a ticket to PMDG just asking for some sort of tentative schedule, even to say 2nd 3rd or 4th quarter...but no reply yet...usually they answer in 24-48hrs. Best regards,
April 10, 201412 yr If anyone is using the patcher and not the full installation, please let us know how it is. Because I really don't trust the patch will ensure a stable sim. I used the v.2.1 to 2.2 patch ... and P3D is running just fine (other than the Flight Planning issue, which I believe is the same for those who installed the full release). However, I did follow the patch instructions, and deleted the necessary folders first . . . backing up the scenery.cfg (which I copied back in after the install). I had FTX Global (full install), FTX Vector (full install); FS Global 2010 (Mesh for all continents installed); ASN for P3D2; a bunch of Orbx airports; 2 A2A aircraft (with Accu-sim); and I didn't have to reinstall any of these. The patch is fine, and P3D is now running so well that I see no reason to uninstall and do a full install of v.2.2 [i now have the full 2.2. version zip saved as a backup. . . just in case I have to reinstall P3D sometime in the future (but v.2.3 will likely be out before that happens).] Based on my own experience, there is nothing wrong with the patch . . . the problem with the patch is 'pilot error' in the way so many have used it (without first deleting the necessary folders). ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
April 10, 201412 yr But, in the end even with P3D, we will once again be complaining about VAS at some point in time in the future. Right about then if LM continues the push for excellence we will see a native 64-bit P3D built around DirectX 12 which by some accounts will be the place where multicore CPU's start to come into their own better for flight simulation. Nothing's forever, so the major plus now is you can use most of what you have to port over from FSX to P3D and I think this will hold us over 'til 64/12 as it were comes along ;o) Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. April 10, 201412 yr It needs to retire. Its old, and worn, and this is the way forward. Cant wait to ditch it. How can you be so cruel. She hasn't totally kicked the bucket yet. April 10, 201412 yr How can you be so cruel. She hasn't totally kicked the bucket yet. But as good as...from my side, once PMDG and Aerosoft addons as well FSUIPC and so on work in P3D with correct installers, FSX is ditched and I am going to buy a P3D Pro license
April 10, 201412 yr I made a previous post about cloud shadow completely crushing my fps from 60-80 to 13-20. Could it have been related to the time of day, as noted in this thread? http://forum.avsim.net/topic/438983-dusknightdawn-fps-hit/ My fps will tank to the same level at dawn/dusk with cloud shadows, but any other time is fine... Beau at LM suggests they may be able to do some work on this issue. Re: Patching v Full install... I had no issues going the patch route, with everything working just as it should. Due to the above I then did a full 2.2 reinstall just to eliminate any potential problems, but it was not connected. My full install runs no better than the patched one did.
April 10, 201412 yr Re: Patching v Full install... I had no issues going the patch route, with everything working just as it should. Due to the above I then did a full 2.2 reinstall just to eliminate any potential problems, but it was not connected. My full install runs no better than the patched one did. Same here, installed that patch version over a hotfixed 2.1 with no issues. As with the sun angle issue you reported, the only issue I had was unrelated to patch vs full install. Now it's just time to wait for Pete to have a chance to update FSUIPC before I can really begin testing other parts of the sim properly. Would the consensus be that FTX Global is compatible now ?
