June 8, 201411 yr I actually hope that after the -300/ER we will get the -200/ER and then the 747V2 I really dont see the point with the 200er. Its isnt it the same as the lr but with bigger fuel tanks? And some less cargo loading cause of that. ?
June 8, 201411 yr Just think of the RR sound on the 744, man I am really looking forward to this and with the quality of the NGX and 777 it'll be just stunning! Can't wait to cruise a cross the pond as "SpeedBird 33 Kilo"to JFK! :-D Overtaking all those A330's and other slow airplanes that try to challenge the might 747.
June 8, 201411 yr Going off topic again sorry but what if I don't want to share my system specs? You don't have to if you don't want to. The point is not to put them in your signature.
June 8, 201411 yr I really dont see the point with the 200er. Its isnt it the same as the lr but with bigger fuel tanks? And some less cargo loading cause of that. ? You have that backwards, the current -200LR is the one with the bigger tanks and higher weights. The -200ER has slightly shorter wings, lower weights and lower range. The problem for PMDG is that the -200ER comes with 3 different engine options to model. Fair bit more work to do because of that. Back to topic, I also think a fully modelled -8 will be AWSOME. Kind of a blend of 777 tech mixed with the older 744 systems. Wes Meyer
June 9, 201411 yr Commercial Member What WILL be interesting is if the 747-8 models are just visual changes or actually modelled with their different systems and engine options. That said, modelling the -400 with 3 engine options and then adding the -8 models with new engines and many different systems may be asking to much. -8v2 stuff will be fully modeled. June 9, 201411 yr For me the -800 will be enough... Unless I want to spend my life behind the computer screen Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
June 9, 201411 yr -8v2 stuff will be fully modeled. (systems are similar to the 777) Thanks Ryan, that is really good to know. Much like Robert, while I love the 777 and 737 etc, their is always a special place for that hulking nose that says, "I am Queen of the skies, Queen of Heaven, Queen of dreams - I am the 747" Wes Meyer
June 9, 201411 yr pmdg 737 ngx aug 2011,pmdg 777 aug 2013 pmdg 747 v2 aug 2015,cant you see it? Yes I can. Seems to be a nice and a fair prediction. But do not be surprised if you're wrong. June 10, 201411 yr Would Love to see the 747-400 Combi modelled, the prospect of watching the rear cargo bay being loaded Joe Barton
June 10, 201411 yr Yes I can. Seems to be a nice and a fair prediction. But do not be surprised if you're wrong. Peter I think we may be surprised - the 747 is a product that PMDG have quite a bit of experience with, and with their "Next Gen" systems fleshed out in the NGX and 777X, we may just see the 747 a bit sooner than Aug 2015, although I doubt we would have her before Christmas this year. June 10, 201411 yr Commercial Member I think the real 747-8 was a big boeing mistake, so I wouldn't be fussed to see it fully modelled. Even though it's a beautiful aircraft, it just isn't popular in the real world. I would also like to know when the 200er is coming in the product line up.. Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here! June 10, 201411 yr Author I think the real 747-8 was a big boeing mistake, so I wouldn't be fussed to see it fully modelled. Even though it's a beautiful aircraft, it just isn't popular in the real world. I would also like to know when the 200er is coming in the product line up.. I think there are two main reasons that Boeing built the 747-8. One is that they have the extra cash from their 777 success to negate any losses incurred, and thus building it and hoping they get more than 120 orders might have been worth it. The other reason, and perhaps most important, is for the Air Force One contract. The Air Force is going to replace the VC-25s (which are essentially 747-200B's), and the 747 is the most majestic plane for any head of state to have. With this contract, and the possibility of replacing the Boeing E-4 doomsday' fleet, it was smarter to bring the project forward to have a fully designed and tested platform for the President, and incur less of a loss than if the 747-8 was specifically designed and built in the single digits for said contract. I think the President's planes will be the last 747s ever built. Inactive
