I'm sure at one point KDTW might have been just grass (although odd if there weren't at least runways?), but here's what it looks like in the current version 10.30b7:

And here's an overhead view of what's there, along with the start positions:

A quick search didn't turn up any user-made 3D additions yet, but that will come eventually. Or you could do it yourself.  ^_^

Yes there is:  http://theosdavis.com/xpfiles/downloads_v10.html

Over the past few months, Ted has created 3D building and object scenery packages for multiple XP10 major US airports.

The add-on fully populates the KDTW runway/taxiway/ramp base shown above with The MacNamara and original terminals - elevated parking garage, hangars, control tower etc. Looks very good, and takes about 60 seconds to download and install.

I'll do a screenshot tonight and post it for comparison to the above shot of the base XP10 KDTW airport.

To be perfectly honest that is very poor even by FS2000 standards

Actually, XP10 might have the right idea. The very first thing I have to do when correcting an airport in FSX is to exclude all the ugly generic buildings so they can be replaced with something that looks like it belongs at that airport.

Why, because no buildings? They'll eventually be there in default scenery, from Open Street Map data or user contributions in future updates. And as noted, there is one free built-up scenery file for it (I just didn't find it in a quick search).

The post was in response to the question about "are there taxiways?" and yes, there are, as shown. It was also in response to the statement that there is nothing there but grass at that particular location.

LOL I meant not just a completely empty plot of land but an empty airport, an airport that should have some structures, an airport that I shouldn't have to find on the Internet, an airport that has AI traffic parked at actual buildings, not pop out of anywhere and taxi into nothingness.

Something like this:

I hope DTG can get it right!

But that is what we always hear with XP "it will eventually be there"

Wake me up when something interesting happens in XP like ATC or a good Ai program turns up.

It's all coming perhaps in X-Plane 11, along with the LD 757

I gotta agree. I mean, I could almost see if that was just some back woods GA airport but not a somewhat major metro airport.  Even in FSX/Prepar3D most of those backwoods GA airports at least have a building or two to amuse you.

Jim, I've been meaning to ask...

Did you have a birthday recently where someone gave you a really BIG box of syllables?

I'm so unused to seeing posts with more than one sentence from you... :Just Kidding:

That's the heaviest post I believe I've seen from Jim.  Waittaminute!  I think he schwacked someone on another thread for posting something...  this week sometime, I think...

No All,

1. The more I write, the more trouble I will get into!

2. I was accused of stuff a few pages back if you would like to know!!

I hope DTG includes seasonal textures also.
