I'm stupid

Recommended Posts

I started a thread a few days ago.. A locked thread... About blurries..

Turns out the blurries weren't blurries.. They were my stupidity..  I moved recently after my fathers passing.. My 40inch LED is a lot closer to me now, and slightly higher then where I was living before. In turn being closer and looking slightly "up" at the screen causes a perceived blurry texture look. If I stand up and pull back a bit the "blurries" are gone..

Anyway.. Being a humble person and one who doesn't mind throwing myself under a bus.. I'm falling on my  sword to make up for my other thread. :)

tl;dr: Blurries weren't blurry. Viewing distance + Viewing Angle + Screen size = Perceived blurries that weren't really blurry.

Thanks for clarification.

I am glad you found the reason for this!

Hi Bill

I'm wondering whether am stupid also.

I have a stability problem. Any aircraft I fly tends to change its COG rather dramatically. I can't seem to stabilise the trim.

I did have a problem with the blurries, but an extra glass of the amber liquid (None of that malt rubbish - its scotch) cured those. Now everything is blurred.

...but the trim in FSX is rubbish. I suppose a fourth glass might improve the trim, do you think ?

..incidentally Bill, my eyesight blurries even occur on a Dell 30" at 2560 x 1600. Do you think it might be the whiskey ?

..Another blurry Bill.

I want to use a 40" HDTV also as a monitor.  Is the resolution as good with a standard computer monitor?  And do you take a hit in fps using a bigger display?

I second that - Fools only forum FOF as acronym? But is admittance on request or do we need a qualification test?

I think this should be made a sticky and posted in the tweaks section -

If you have the blurries - stand further away from your monitor!

A regular monitor is fine to be close to. The larger you go, the further away you should be.. 40in @ 1920x1080 will look blurry only two feet away. At my old house I flew 6ft away from it..  I might invest in a 4k monitor next which would solve a lot of that issue..

Alas, I too have found that the viewing angle of any monitor has a major effect on results. I have a 42" Visio HDTV wall-mounted, and situated about 40" from my physical eyepoint...

...unfortunately, I mounted it about 3" higher on the wall than I should have, as even the very subtle upwards view angle greatly affects the contrast and gamma balance. IOW, the areas that should be lighter appear a bit darker.

It is absolutely amazing how much better the scene appears if I sit up very straight and stretch my neck just a few inches higher!

Yup.. Good news is I'm back flying again now. Pretty happy.. Did a bunch of flights today.. I do notice the stutter everyone talks about but it's also not as bad as I thought it would be.

Rather than creating another forum, why not create a Group, as in the FOF GROUP.

EDIT: I need to join this club. I forgot that I deleted the Groups feature.
