The ICAO is currently trying to get permission to fly over Iranian airspace. When that is approved probably all the Far East airllines will go that way.

Ugh I flew over it literally days before it happened SIN-AMS (SQ324). I will look on the flight-tracker TV thing which way they fly around on the way back. I believe the UKDV FIR is now completely closed. (Indefinitely?)

 

This is a really horrible incident. Very tragic to lose so many fellow citizens.

Carriers are already flying over Iranian airspace, including MA.  I fly over Iran & Iraq with QR when traveling to and from Europe/Middle East. During the Gulf war we would have to route over Saudi.

I've read similar ridiculous 'proposals' (I won't devalue the term 'theory') over the years, but this one truly takes the prize. So, "someone nefarious" loaded an aircraft with corpses in full view of everyone at the airport, and no one noticed?

 

Just as the literally millions of people around the world watched in real time as the second aircraft crashed into the second tower were somehow all victims of mind control?

 

I remember that morning quite well. After tuning in the morning news, I immediately called my best friend and said "Jim! Turn on your TV!" He asked "What channel?" and I replied "Any channel Jim!"

When you live in Australia/New Zealand and you are flying to Europe you have a choice.....the craziness of KLAX of fly over the east being Iran, Syria, or Ukraine airspace.

 

I think I will take flying through KLAX over the east any day. Wolfgang Puck Pizza's seem not so bad now.

The media is stirring up hostility towards Russia, it's hardly a pleasant regime but i think it's pretty clear that the Russian government didn't shoot the plane down, blaming Russia for the actions of the Rebels would be akin to blaming the US for the formation of al qaeda (see CIA financing of the mujahideen in Afghanistan).

Correct, but if they supplied heavy weaponry and/or advisors to the rebels they are culpable specially in view of the fact (per US intelligence) the BUK missile battery that fired was moved back across the Russian border. I don't think anybody suggests that Putin (or his entourage) ordered the shooting but the fact that such transfer occurred through the border and was neither "encouraged" nor "discouraged" by Kremlin speaks volumes. Unless of course Russia is so decentralized (we know it isn't true) and disorganized that government people in Moscow have no control over their borders and missile batteries simply run unimpeded.
