December 5, 201510 yr The L-1011 is a nice aircraft but I went through the manuals and except for the very useful flight profiles there's not much on how to actually startup engines and manage power during the different phases of the flight, or for that matter for any other functions (hydraulics, navigation etc..). No checklist, no procedure, no tutorial either. How does one do ? Is there any resource elsewhere to complement CaptainSim's ? The 737 looks interesting now. The 1.7 version seems to have cured most of the issues acording to the few posts on this topic. The Milviz is not bad but has some flaws. December 5, 201510 yr I liked the JustFlight L1011 (the original release, I don't have the upgrade), but it pales in comparison to the Captainsim version with respect to system depth. CS has made almost all switches available, and there are a ton of them, especially at the flight engineer's desk. The one disadvantage of the CS plane is that it implemented all these switches but does not have an amplified checklist. I found an original checklist on the web and used it with the CS. I would say one can follow more than 95% of all procedures, which is really impressive. Here is the checklist: safetyItems={"Battery switch: off ", "PARKING BRAKE: SET ", "FIRE PULL HANDLES: in ", "GEAR LEVER: DOWN", "FUEL AND IGNITION SWITCHES: OFF ", "STABILIZER TRIM: ZERO ", "Weather December 10, 201510 yr There's a very well done PMDG style tutorial uploaded in the AVSIM library. Thank you Daniel, very well done indeed. December 15, 201510 yr So as we approach the sale date, and for today's standards... Which of the Captain Sim aircraft (if any) would you guys recommend..?
December 15, 201510 yr Commercial Member Will there be a sale this year,,anyone know? If there is I will get the 707, 727, 1101, for sure. December 15, 201510 yr Hi, I have the CS B727 for P3Dv3 (bought at full price) and I think for 10 euros would be a bargain. I fully recomend it. December 15, 201510 yr So as we approach the sale date, and for today's standards... Which of the Captain Sim aircraft (if any) would you guys recommend..? L1011. What about CS777? I'm not interested in failure simulation, so don't conside other available product. Is CS777 good for standard procedures flying?
December 15, 201510 yr What about CS777? I'm not interested in failure simulation, so don't conside other available product. Is CS777 good for standard procedures flying? I do own it and I would say yes it is. Some would say that the CS777 simulation goes not deep enough. However, looking at how much time I have available for simming I would say it is just on the right level. Though, one thing I would like to see improved on this model is its' resource hunger. This is why I do not use it so often for the time being. On my rather old system it turns P3Dv2 into sort of a slide show when flying into larger airports. December 15, 201510 yr I looking foward their 727 or 737... Any toughts? I had the CS727 in FS9, and have the Milviz 732. I may go, this time, for the CS732 for P3Dv3 which has many more liveries than the Milviz and the PDCS, depending of the size of the package (expansion or not). Also, I don't know when and if MIlviz will convert the 732 for v3. At 10 euros a pop, you can make a mistake anyway... The 727 has a engineer panel behind the front seat. Switching positions when needed to manage the engine is a little akward IMO and the documentation to actually drive the plane that you've on your screen was not as useful as the one coming with CS732 which is excellent. December 15, 201510 yr Will there be a sale this year,,anyone know? If there is I will get the 707, 727, 1101, for sure. This really is the question ... I am waiting a long time for this opportunity. I would like to add a 767 to my collection that I could make work in P3Dv2 (at the moment). I think system-depht-wise it would be at the right level for me. December 18, 201510 yr Yep, same here... been waiting for months, curious if they have one, here's hoping!! Looking forward to picking up a couple aircraft myself, mainly 727 and L1011. Happy Holiday everyone! Allen, flight sim lover and AA-5 Traveler owner
December 18, 201510 yr Have their L-1011 but only for FSX. Am looking forward to their fire-sale to get the P3D version. Rick Almeida
December 18, 201510 yr Captain Sim's response to a question on fb whether they would be having a sale this year: "Who knows. Please stay tuned for news." Hope that's a promising sign! Have the 727 in my sights!
