I'd venture a guess that if this did NOT have a downside, LM would have talked about it more. So far, we just have  not found the downside.

So, we can speculate until hell freezes over but until LM makes an official announcement, it's all conjecture.

If it works for you and you don't see a downside - that's al that matters.

above was my findings on an earlier post.

since then i have done a flight and found VAS going twice as fast

start 2.10

finish 1.60

for an  hour flight.

I would have expected the VAS to be still to be around 1.90.

Its caused no problem for me and my "stats" are a rough guide and not scientific analysis.

stutters if anything better but since I have turned sliders and such like down or off, they have been almost eliminated.

I would be interested to hear other VAS findings when the sim is used  for a flight

has any one flown over water with this tweak any strange effects seen ?,I have had a tile effect using it, the first time I have seen that in  P3d,but I did also change my AM to 84 from 252 so back to the drawing board

I did 2 full flights today with the NGX, each one about 2,5 hours long. So far I had not seen any unusual behavior in the sim with the tweak enabled.

At what clock?

I don't run any overclock (yet). So it's 4.4 Ghz. (Eventually I will try this in the near future)

I finally am at a point where FSX can be retired! I was happy with P3D 2.5 before this mod. Now I am even happier. Latin VFR KMIA NGX ASN and Soft Clouds. Before 17FPS average. Now 28AVG

On a small 550TI! I will upgrade my card soon but what a find!

LM has not backtracked on that, unless you can find an official quote.

P3D no longer sets the AM, it is default zero. In any case the use of an AM is required in HT mode, period - whoever you are.

So, I did some thorough testing on my personal rig (2600K @ 4.3, GTX970) and I see a ~15% improvement with 777+payware AP, ~10% with 777 airborne, and ~10% across the board with the T-DukeV2.  The Q400 isn't really noticeable at ~5% but it was significantly faster to begin with.  I didn't see any VAS usage increase at all.

Just installed fresh copy of P3D 43 full install with 44 patch nothing else F-22 same scenario - fps slider unlimted - VC optimize=0 (71fps) ---------- fps slider unlimted - VC optimize=1 (81fps) - spot plane of the charts close to 160 fps - no complaints here now time to have fun loading some addons - well not so sure about the fun part

Which is why one shouldn't bother with an AM. The logic behind 84 is to make sure that P3d's main thread is prevented from using physical core 0.

That's just plain wrong sorry, and you mention nothing of whether HT mode is on or off. As I already explained, in HT mode we have to prevent the first two threads starting up on the same core, else they contend for the same core. We want to give the primary thread access to the core by itself. It's quite simple taking 84=01,01,01,00 as an example for 4 cores = 8LPs. I've put commas in to separate the cores. The ones represent an allocated LP, the zeros mask off one LP per core. Even so, this does not prevent other processes running on your cores, and that's a bit more effort to try the other variations as I mentioned, like 168.

Well I consider Steve a Guru so I am off to try it as my 3770k is perfect for testing that 84 AM - I have used this in the past but not laltley and it worked very well

Ok tried it and now that 81fps is now 86fps - sim loads much faster - was pretty quick to begin with and has a faster response time (changing views) see I knew He was a Guru - thanks buddy nothing like a brand new install to check this stuff out
