Do you guys get the same FPS in FSX as in P3D with the PMDG stuff? 

Better frames in P3D.  Oh yeah, I also have better visuals too.  

 

I would hate to be one of those guys that bought the FSX version of PMDG recently only to eventually realize that P3D really is a better platform and have to buy the P3D version. 

That article is probably unrelated to what they did to P3d, but whatever they did do with this setting, it has a major impact on performance.

I think OPTIMIZE_PARTS works on the DX11 GPU to do Instancing, so may not be available to all GPU types. Instancing is where for example with autogen, instead of drawing each tree or house every time, they draw one and are copied internally to draw the others.

If it's not supported on your GPU then it could make matters worse. Unlimited is a test mode of DX, the fixed fps is optimised for the DX frame buffer, you may want to try fixed fps.

Seems to be the case Steve. I have a GTX580. It does support D11. DSR works too, bot maybe it does not have the grunt etc for this tweak. I get 36FPS in the PMDG T7 at LHS LHBP. With tweak I get 29 and a big fluctuation.

Could someone test with/without this tweak and look in look in the distance is something is changing ( lower lod , less ag etc ) ?

GSalden.  I've been playing around with a quadHD (note 4) screen and an Oculus Rift clone (Homido - because DK 2 just doesn't have the resolution yet, and for P3D no point in Gear VR over Homido), and it seems that the same issue I'm having with graininess is showing up with shader distortions/corrections made for Oculus Rift.  It's something that is going to have to be fixed for smoothing out VR.  So the issue is going to get squeakier.

In the latest releases (2.4 and 2,5) it was never necessary to set Affinity Mask. Only exception is when you run other demanding software parallel to P3D (e.g. video capturing).

I have better performance with AF=14 than without. The only other programs I run are activesky and vpilot. With the AF tweak in my cfg I don't notice a big difference. Without AF and with OPT_PARTS= 1 I get lower and unstabile FPS. Any suggestions?

Maybe "parts" refers to "Partitions"?

I think the Bufferpools gave me 3-4 fps . Will have to test it .

Otherwise at EKCH gate A20 with Flytampa i am now at 40fps in the NGX (normal 30fps)
