April 14, 201511 yr Commercial Member I think the HD trees look quite a bit better than the existing trees. Nice upgrade for a fair price. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
April 14, 201511 yr if you buy FTX Global it has a severe performance hit. To compensate it a bit you have to buy HD Trees extra. Just......wow. David Murden. April 14, 201511 yr Please, can anyone experiencing a FPS gain tell me if that gain was against orbx trees or against p3d default trees? if in reality there is no performance boost I think the Orbx may be subject to penalties for false advertising and, especially, cause loss of confidence by its loyal consumers, so I think they actually did some tests about it, it would seem strange to me to make such a bold and clear affermation if it is not true... Another question, this time for DarkstarF16, i own Natural Trees X which i bought for FSX. I tried to install that in P3D v2 but the installer got a fatal error. So I thought it was not compatible with V2 and i gave up. There is an alternative way to install or fixed installer? when I used the addon for FSX I noticed a drop in FPS if I remember correctly ....maybe it is because FSX default trees are worse than P3D ones. tks
April 14, 201511 yr They look better but I hardly notice the difference when airborne. +1 Pretty on the ground and on finals. The autumn textures look better than the original to my eye. Not tried winter yet. Didn't notice any major difference in fps but mine are capped at 60fps externally. Still very smooth. Good buy? If so, the currect installer is for FSX and P3D. If yours isnt, see if you can download the new version, or just write Zinertek a mail and ask about it. If I remember right, I had the FSX version to start with and Zinertek send me a link with the new download. Cheers! Maarten
April 14, 201511 yr Well so far the only problem I have found for sure is that after installing, My wife's right knee has really been hurting. I hope that after her surgery to replace the knee next month the pain will go away and at the same time my frame rates will improve also. Man them ORBX folks are bad bad people. Yes that's it, i have the installer for FSX and P3D but i thought it was only for P3D v1 (i was not interested when i bought it because i was using FSX) because it gave a strange error (radio button error looked similar to this: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/topic/ftx-global-base-installation-error-radio-buttonline-13/ so i it looked like a P3D V1 installer to me) I bought Natural Trees X in december 2014 so i do not think it is an old installer, i run P3D V2.4

Cheers! Maarten
April 14, 201511 yr Moderator f in reality there is no performance boost I think the Orbx may be subject to penalties for false advertising and, especially, cause loss of confidence by its loyal consumers, so I think they actually did some tests about it, it would seem strange to me to make such a bold and clear affermation if it is not true... Other than you, who cares? If, in their testing, "ONE" tester saw an improvement, then it improves performance. If I did also for you, great, if it didn't - that's the way it goes with software. Chill - there is nothing to concern yourself about except how it works on your system. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

Did you notice a difference in FPS? I'm very curious to know if ORBX HD trees give a FPS boost because: 1) if it is true it would be a very cheap performance upgrade 2) if it is false i will never ever buy ORBX products Other than you, who cares? If, in their testing, "ONE" tester saw an improvement, then it improves performance. If I did also for you, great, if it didn't - that's the way it goes with software. Chill - there is nothing to concern yourself about except how it works on your system. Vic Yes maybe is system specific but they actually did not say that "it depends on your system", they say: "The most incredible part is that Trees HD will actually IMPROVE your sim's performance! New optimized tree models reduce the burden on your system, resulting in up to a 20% INCREASE in FPS and no increase in VAS usage compared to what you are experiencing now. Call it the world's cheapest CPU upgrade! Beautiful new trees and a performance benefit to boot? " So no doubt over there, no justification is possible if it actualy does not give an improvement, slight at least. Having said that, I hope it is really so, because it would be an improvement for us all. edit: I think I will buy the product and I will test even using FRAPS, maybe someone does not notice a performance increase because he uses texture 2K? Perhaps the performance increase is only for TML=1024, ie equal than default texture size? . FPS but Rob has told me has not seen this so have to revisit - whats going on is they have mixed in color within the groups of trees so it looks less repetitive which is a very nice touch especially in fall - one other thing I noticed is sprinkled single trees all over which I dont recall being like that before - hmm - see if I can post a pic in a min Richard have you revisited it? Can you give us an update regarding FPS gain? thank you very much
April 14, 201511 yr ok i'll try again this evening. Did you notice a difference in FPS? I'm very curious to know if ORBX HD trees give a FPS boost because: I havent been using it for a little while, so I had to check (just a fast peak at the same place I tested the TreesHD yesterday, so it's a stationairy measurement at one airport in a tree rich environment). My FPS with Zinertek is about the same as FTX Global Trees, maybe one more or less (FPS is a bit jumpy at that airport). VAS measures about 200MB more, though. For me, Trees HD gives me exactly the same FPS as FTX Global, though. VAS use is about the same, within a few MB. If you do or dont get the FPS increase seems to differ per system... I asked about this and the answer I got is that, in contradiction to the earlier posts, it's not certain you get the FPS increase. I pointed out some posts where some people from ORBX make it seem it's guaranteed, but I havent been able to check for any reply, since the website is down. I bought TreesHD in the first place for the FPS increase, so for me it was kind of a disappointment, even though the trees do look absolutely great. Cheers! Maarten
