April 13, 201511 yr Yep, it is the "old age discount" but I prefer Senior citizen discount. I do feel old when I get out bed each morning and then have to look in the mirror, but using "senior" makes me feel a little better. April 13, 201511 yr Anyone else have un-enhanced screenshots of their HD Trees purchase. Will probably buy as I rarely go above 3000ft! April 13, 201511 yr It does not replace "all tree textures" and I do have it at 2048. Check the folder: <drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Scenery\Global\texture (or the equivalent FSX folder) and make sure that all the vegetation files have a Date Created of 3/22/15 @ around 5PM. If not, HD Trees did not install correctly.
April 13, 201511 yr Bought them....installed them and I like them. At certain altitudes and sun angles I think they look better. At their worst they look at least as good as the default autogen trees. I seem to be getting about 2-3 FPS higher frame rates. FaxCap
April 13, 201511 yr Mmm...so if I'm correct : if you buy FTX Global it has a severe performance hit. To compensate it a bit you have to buy HD Trees extra... April 13, 201511 yr Moderator Since I lock at 20, the fps don't matter. Visually I see a slight difference in the areas that I've flown around in. Don't really care to check the VAS. If I start getting OOM's I'll blame it on the trees. For $14USD (yep, old fart discount) it's worth it. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 13, 201511 yr The same generic trees are in full regions as FTX Global. HD trees only adds a few trees in areas like PNW it doesn't change the old ones. Around air strips and towns are the only places that you will see HD trees in PNW.. Do you need glasses ? Happy man. Another numpty without a clue. Here is a quote from an Orbx developer. Unless you are looking at custom autogen that Trees HD was not intended to modify all tree textures should be replaced. That includes all trees in default, Global, and regions. So there you have it. Mmm...so if I'm correct : if you buy FTX Global it has a severe performance hit. To compensate it a bit you have to buy HD Trees extra... What severe performance hit?. The lunatics really are taking over this asylum
April 13, 201511 yr Since I lock at 20, the fps don't matter. (...) Since I fuel my plane for exactly a hundred bucks each time, fuel prices don't matter to me ... What happened to AVSIM
April 13, 201511 yr There is a reason ORBX don't advertise here...LOL Mmm...so if I'm correct : if you buy FTX Global it has a severe performance hit. April 13, 201511 yr Can anyone who purchased comment on VAS? I'd like to know if it's more of a VAS hit or no. Thanks! "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
April 13, 201511 yr Generally, I am pretty pleased with the results - the appearance of the new tree models is quite nice, with more shape definition and finer details, so much less "blob like" than before - and in areas where the primary graphics burden are "treescapes", such as when I do back-country flying, I was able to move the lock on my framerate up to 30 (from 26), and have that be rock solid stable - not too bad for my pitiful Dell XPS, with a 2.8Ghz Bloomfield (running non HT), with a GTX 750 OC.
