Does P3D 3 = P3D 2.6?

I think it is pretty obvious from reading this entire thread that being underwhelmed  by V3.0  after reading the release notes, is not going to be tolerated by a few  in this forum. As Yogi Berra said many years ago ( RIP Yogi), "It's like Deja Vu, all over again".      This same kind of dialogue  came up when FS9 was replaced by FSX, and I had been into flight sims many, many.many  years, when that happened. FSX was stated to be the Holy Grail of Flight Sims with major improvements , and if you disagreed with that in anyway , you were quickly told that you were  not the sharpest knife in the drawer by the experts.  So day one, FSX was released, and guess what , the complaints started streaming in. " I need a new PC", "This doesn't run as well as FS9", "It CDTs,  and FS9 didn't", "The frame rates suck" etc...etc... and it went on for ( hmm , was it weeks, or months or years,) a really long time. In fact, there are still people running FS9 on this very website  still debating the issue .

So reading the long list of bug fixes, and the few features like Avatars, ATC windows, Speed Trees ( which I never really cared for in Railroad sims I had) , I am not really impressed with the release either.  I would be glad to "donate" money to Lockheed Martin to continue development of P3D because I think that is a good thing, but $200 to buy this version which basically offers me very little at this point, is not what I would regard as a good decision. I get good FPS with 2.5 ( average over 30 fps with a 2 GB GPU) , no OOMs, no blurries, no micro stutters, I fly with all kinds of addons which you can see in my signature, with zero problems.   So unless I read about some mind blowing feature, that everyone discovers, that I think is worth it, I am going to stick with what I have. If some of you think that is a stupid decision on my part, I couldn't care less.

Paul, you are not entitled to an opinion.

Not until the product is released and you have tried it.

Then opine away. It's what we live for.

What you have done is confusilate `opinion` with `conjecture` - yours and other peoples. And frankly we've had our fill of that in this forum over the last several weeks, as the response to your opinion of what your opinion will be, showed. If you're that good at anticipation then lets have next weeks lottery numbers and not waste any more time with this simming lark eh?

So what say you and every one else put a sock in it until you have a foot to put it on?

:hi:

Do you have V3 installed and have you used it?  Don't recall seeing you on the Beta Team.

Cheers, Rob.

I battling this same garbage on Facebook. And no I am not on the beta team either. All speculation no information. Don't like it don't buy it.

How many times has this same argument played out on this forum  every time a new version of FS came out every 2-3 years? <yawn>

Some will stick with what they have for the next 10 years, some will skip a version because they just started using 2.5 and some will upgrade day 1. Same old story, nothing to see her e, move on if you don't like it :)

Once again, and for the last time! buy it, try it. If you don't like it (and you have 60 whole days to make up your mind). Give it back and get your money back. End of story!

Why do so many people around here have to start moaning about P3D v3 without having used it? It's not even released. This is so ridicolous. Have you guys ever thought about how a development team and beta testers who have put in a lot of effort into P3D v3 feel when people start to complain without having seen the final product? This is really a joke. Just shut up and don't buy if you don't like it (without having seen the product yet)...

Yup, there's the AVSIM community that I love.

I wonder if OP had made a thread saying "I've never used P3D, but this is a day-one buy!" - would all of the Beta Testers (don't forget the capital B and T!) respond in the same manner? As in, "You've never used it, therefore you can have no opinion."

I don't know if I'm buying 3.0, but I do know this thread is yet another hilarious adventure on AVSIM. Hooray!

+1 Steve.... and that equates to about four rounds of drinks in my local Pub. Sort of puts it into perspective doesn't it.

You obviously don't live in London.... for that kind of money you'll just get about 2 cheap rounds for 4 people.

I read the bug-kills that comprises  v3.0, and then ASAP afterward, finally downloaded my copy of v2.5.  I have been running with v2.4.

So....I'll sit in the P3D 'bush', and see what early adopters think, after having used v3.0, and, as they now see it...comments versing v2.5, as point comparison.

The usage reports and comments, should prove informative reading....

Ooh!

edit:I see the post I Ooh'd about was deleted. Wipes sweet from brow! Auh!

Avsim is in desperate need of a good janitor. Sure could use Tom's input right about now.

A very disappointing release.

I edited your topic title to change it from a declarative statement to a question. There's nothing wrong with anyone's opinion, as long as it is based on actual evidence, otherwise it's just blind conjecture.

Hey Paul,

Like You I was Disappointed that V3 was not 64bit - But before We completely Write it off - Maybe We should try - Like the Developer Version for a Month - or Use their Return Policy - Then after using it say - I don't like it  - Because I Tried it - This would Be much more Informative for the Form - You can allways go back to what You have and still Be Happy with it !! - You Just May Surprise Yourself - Just Sayin !! - Johnman - B)

Honestly, many of the poster in this forum, I could liken to drug addict who are having a hard time getting the cash together for their next fix!

I think it's pretty fair to be upset that all of the "bug fixes" aren't coming to the 2.xx people.

That basically implies the 2.xx product we paid for had lots of outstanding problems and rather than make good on their end and at least push those fixes to 2.xx users, they want an entirely new license fee (not even any upgrade pricing)

Whether I upgrade or not, I think it's very fair to be a little upset about that part of things for sure.

Honestly, many of the poster in this forum, I could liken to drug addict who are having a hard time getting the cash together for their next fix!

LOL....... :Cuppa:
