OMG! Everybody is talking about how great is FSGRW and no one is posting photos..........

Here are some shots I took this evening on  flight from Brisbane to Sydney. The cloud textures are SkyMax Pro.

Thank you Mike, this looks amazing! I have tried mine last night, I'm glad I didn't need to pay any money because I had FSGRW bought since I've used it for FS2004, long time ago!!

Thanks for the screenshots. Nice !

What are your Skymax Pro Settings ?

Great screenshots here Mike!

Thank You very much for sharing!

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

Does it increase the layer of clouds ? I am using FSrealwx.

Well,

I find it very nice, although sometimes it stops sending data to xp10 with an error - can't communicate with the sim...

I didn't try it for more than 10 minutes, so it is still early to say how good it really is in terms of extending the coverage that we usually get with either NOAA ( free ) or FSRealWx, and I decided to install SMP again just to see how both combine, but, so far:

1) It get's data for airfields that FSRwX can't access, I don't know why... ( good )

2) It doesn't generate any sort of turbulence, at least I was unable to see turbulence being generated, while FSRwX can generate turbulence where it is plausible that we should find it...

I had the same thing happen. I had to reconnect about 5 or 6 times during the flight.

Guillaume,

I don't know how well you'll be able to see in this screen shot. My settings are mostly default. I did increase the cloud draw distance.

First impressions, it seems to have removed that awful sudden weather change.... Need more testing though....

That feature alone will make it worth buying for me. No more blown final approaches due to sudden (and unrealistic) weather change.

I still think it's a bit crazy that we need to rely on 3rd party payware to fix something like that, when it's a flaw in X-Plane's basic weather engine. Whatever... if it works, I'll pay for the fix.

While I don't disagree that X-Plane's weather engine needs some work, the various weather engines that we use for FSX/P3D are also much better than the default systems. This is certainly a step up and I think there will be even more improvements.

Good weather depictions so far, however the regular disconnections are a bit of a PITA so I hope we see some improvement very soon.

Well, the difference with FSX is that any improvements have to come from 3rd parties. No other choice, since Microsoft left the building.

X-Plane is under continuing development, so it just seems odd to me that something as fundamental as improvements in the weather engine is left to 3rd parties. Maybe it's just me, but I would prefer to see that as part of the core sim package, even if it has to be a paid add-on from Laminar. For one thing, it would ease the transition across major release versions, instead of wondering if the 3rd party weather add-ons we buy today will work with X-Plane 11, or if we'll have to buy upgrades, and so on.

Another thing.... I feel that outsourcing weather improvements to 3rd parties might lead to some laziness at Laminar. If they think we're 100% happy with 3rd party offerings, then we might not get the more fundamental changes we need in the weather engine, like full 3D modeling of vertical weather systems instead of the current horizontal layers.

To be clear, I'm certainly happy we have these 3rd party add-ons and I'll gladly pay for them. I still feel they shouldn't be necessary for a sim engine that's still under development and not abandoned, like FSX.

+1 !

It only disconnects if you leave the cockpit and go in to the menu for some reason, if your doing a flight, I can't see any reason to go in the menu.... And its just one click and it fixes it anyways :)
