P3d 3.1 before year end

Thanks, that's fine, even more as I don't have any serious issues with 3.0 I need to be solved right tomorrow.

Kind regards, Michael

  • And then you will get to buy all your add on's again, because none of the present ones will work.

Hopefully they'll offer better AA or at least a way to use AA (SGSS) with NVI without it actually applying the Clouds...ie FSX DX10 fixer option.

Man, there's an idea. I haven't used FSX in a long time and I certainly don't know anything about the infamous DX10 fixer but Steve made that an option?

I think it should be reasonably obvious that resolving controller issues will be a key feature of the 3.1 update. I can fly in P3D v3, but my joystick still has a significant left bias, and it seems that plenty of other users have controller problems.

This had better not involve a full reinstall, it become totally impractical. Taken nearly 2 months or more to get p3dv3 to point where I can make a planned flight.

If its reinstall, let LM use it themselves.

The only issue that I think P3Dv3 should improve is the Controls (Joystick) problems, otherwise for me it´s Ok. Hopefully we won´t have to re-install everything from scratch, that's boring and not productive.

From LM, one of the software engineers indicates that they have added a new calibration system. Below is an excerpt of a posting on the LM website and it looks like a nice addition:

We have added a new calibration system that will be available with the next release. Users will be able to calibrate their devices via Settings->Controls->Calibration->Calibrate Device. This will correct issues users are having with aircraft veering off the runway as well as issues users are having when binding axes.

Do the P3D updates ALWAYS require a full install ?   What a true PITA :-/

Yes, makes me wonder if any of you actually look at the files you purchased and downloaded from LM ...  you ladies/gents can read 1500 page PMDG manuals and learn the complexity of flight and flight systems, yet reading P3D documentation seems elusive.

To re-iterate what it says in the Learning Center.chm:

Installer Updates

  • Installer now split into three separate components which can be updated and installed independently: Client, Content, and Scenery.
  • Folder organization scheme modified to support new content and scenery installers
  • Updated versioning scheme for installed files

You should have these files - the Install_Client.msi will just install the base core of P3D leaving everything else alone:

I guess I'm on secretary duty now ... do you folks want me to make you some coffee?  Tea? One lump or two? haha :)

Cheers, Rob.

EDIT: be aware that if there is new content or scenery and you only install client you don't get those updates.

My bad Rob, and thx for calling my attention to that new model.

I didn't notice it when I installed P3D3 in a rush, a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah the next thing we will probably hear is that 3.1 will require a brand new SSD, SLI.  Windows 10, and a two 4 k monitors   :fool:

With all due respect, why would anyone start looking at the files after installing P3D? It's a flight simulator, not a file management tutorial.

Expect v3.1 before the end of the year

Wow the end of the year is only 30 days away,  that year went so fast

So 3.1 is coming,  great stuff    Should be interesting to see some upcoming information

I understand the sentiment and it actually made me giggle a bit but that's sorta become the thing: in my year and a half simming, I think I've spent less time flying and learning than I have with one of the thousands of tasks associated with getting the sim to run, addons to work, etc. So yeah, by now, I feel like I know P3D inside and out...

I am curious how fast the addon developers will adapt their installers again....

I would imagine the same installers for v3.0 will work for v3.1, at least I hope so?

I guess the most part of add-ons won´t need new installers.
