P3d 3.1 before year end

Featured Replies

Mine's running beautifully smooth with ASN, REX Soft Clouds and PMDG's 777, why a patch ?

Heheheh, but honestly, I can't find any problems with my current install.

Never had better FPS in the T7, with ASN pumping bad weather all around me...

Huh, are you talking about 3.0? or 2.5 ? Cheers

I wish they introduced the Cube map render enabling real-time reflections on objects that they had advertised for v3.0 but then it did not make it into the final release.

And while we're at it, a way to customise the time bloom adjusts.

Awful lot of hopes and dreams for the first point release of a major product.

So, DX12 support for us Win10ers seems to have got completely out of sight. While it will certainly not be in 3.1, I still hope it will be somewhere down the 3.x road.

Kind regards, Michael

Why a patch? It's simple, P3D even with all the nice features and fixes, there are still problems

Ahh, I forgot a couple.........

* those flashing sequence lights in the Approach lights need to be reduced in size at distance. They look enormous at the moment.

* Sort the water texture animation out. Seriously, static water textures are FS98 material.

Water animation looks fine to me at different altitudes, sounds like you've install something not compatible or have overlayed water textures/files.

Those lights can be adjusted the same way they are adjusted in FSX, FS9, FS2004, FS2000, and yes FS98 ;)

[DISPLAY]

RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.9 // edge,center,end,touchdown,runways
RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.9 // VAI lights
RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.9 // approach light bars
RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.9 // RAILs and STROBES

Probably something to do with that file management system thingy.

Cheers, Rob.

REX Essential Plus SP3 is supposed to have sorted out the water animation, but I saw nothing but a static painting above a few hundred feet in P3D v2.4, and I see exactly the same in P3D v3. I do not have any other weather or water animation packages installed. Please note that I am not talking about wave motion at low level here. I am talking about "white caps" and the illusion of movement at higher altitudes.

Does P3D v3 take advantage of SLI?

Water animation is not fine Rob. For 99% of the time we fly above 5000 feet... Yeah.. if there is sun reflections its not bad... look at the other end (above 5K feet)..where there is no sun reflections.. its TOTALLY DEAD. Its as bad as FS9 water.

From 2.5 to V3.. The major value added was VAS which is big

Now I hope they get this done.

I wish they would  FIX this.,.. water animation to be at least as good as it was in FSX.

Hi Manny,

It's not dead, it actually active to atleast 16,000 feet ... easier to see on a 4K monitor.  But the higher you go, the harder it is to see the wave animation.  I believe Beau posted some tweaks you can do to Triton engine that will spread out the wave animation so it's more noticeable at higher altitudes, but the problem with that approach is that you get less wave action down low.

You can read more about the Triton engine here: http://sundog-soft.com/sds/features/ocean-and-water-rendering-with-triton/ .  LM are NOT using all of it's capabilities ... yet.  Primarily because of the performance hit it induces -- that may change in the future, have to wait and see.  I've been pushing LM to upgrade their CUDA libraries (which is what Triton uses) ... but as will all things that improve reality, it costs (FPS and hardware).  If you look at the Beaches demo from Triton ... wow!  Yes PLEASE!  But think 3 way SLI 980Ti or better for acceptable FPS (aka 30) on a "Global" scale (key being Global).

Cheers, Rob.

Not happening, like I said before, you should probably move on from that expectation.

Let me guess.... you want 64bit.
