December 7, 201510 yr I dont have this plane yet, Maybe after the Holidays. However, SES, have you disbled all your other plugins, to see if there is a conflict? If it runs good, then re-enable them one at a time to see if you can find the conflict. Rob
December 7, 201510 yr Also it seems it currently has issues with the latest Navigraph AIRAC 1512 info and they advise to stick with the default one that comes with the plane. If you update it crashes X-Plane when you add the airport in the FMC. They are working on a fix From EGFF to YSSY
December 7, 201510 yr Ok, I am sorry to hear that. Usually lowering the "texture resolution" will be enough to bring VRAM usage down really quick (together with "compress textures"), you should even be able to leave everything else on your normal settings... I wouldn´t go as far as writing the purchase off - I have the impression that the devs are very responsive, and making a "lighter" version is probably a matter of days, not weeks. The Saab340 had a similiar problem, and then one of their updates added the choice of smaller textures and everyone got on board again. PLUS you will benefit of some bugs getting fixed while you save yourself frustration, hopefully! Jan Hi Jan...oh I'm not writing off the plane...it is great...looks great...the cockpit if A1...it's just that I have to dummy down below what I like to get it up to 17-20 FPS. I'll just have to wait until I get that new 4 or 6 GB card. I went down to the default/high sim res settings and that (as you suggested, and thanks!) did the trick to bet them near 17-20. It's a great plane...but it taxes my present 2GB card. Not the Dev's fault...not at all. Enjoy your usage...for I will when I upgrade! I dont have this plane yet, Maybe after the Holidays. Rob Hi Com...it all filtered down (as some sharpies out there figured out....!!!) that the plane needs more than a 2GB VRAM card, especially with in-sim settings that you might want to max out on. On everything else, I can run my usual VERY HIGH res setting, but with this bird...I had to to DEFAULT to get 25-30, and with HIGH, 17-22 FPS. I also had to drop from Trees TREE HUGGER, to populated. ROADS from EXTREME to Tons, and OBJECTS from EXTREME to Tons...and that did the trick. C'mon Ses, get a Titan. Like my wife says, "It's only money. You can make more." THAT was funny....it's only money...you're right...but my wife lately has been lurking with a roller pin in one hand, patting it onto the palm on the other... I'm reading something into that.....

Mitch, Go into the planes Objects folder and (make a backup first) remove the NML images. See if this helps.
December 8, 201510 yr Mitch, Go into the planes Objects folder and (make a backup first) remove the NML images. See if this helps. Ok...I'll do that...curious... I see that those are the bump reflections for the skin. I was reading on the forum, and can see a way to use the MD-80 with my modest 2GB ov VRAM. A few delete tricks, and the Dev's are thinking of releasing 2048 textures that will save a lot of VRAM. So...no sky-is-falling...I'll eventually get to enjoy this great bird, too. Good to read though, that those with 4 GB cards and up, are having no problems...and don't need to try 'this or that'. Ses Post Edit: With the following settings, I am getting now around 21-30 FPS, and did not need to remove any files from the OBJECT folder. Here is a over-the-wing cabin seat shot...I have A.I. about to take the plane to taxi...just relaxing for now...and will read the manual. I love the visuals on this plane...the cabin is simply amazing, the cockpit, the same. I now just have to learn to use all of the modeled systems...and we'll be all good. Even better when I get a new 4-6 GB VRAM card....
December 8, 201510 yr I suggest for your first taste of Rotate MD-80 'immersion'...is to set your plane on the ramp at KDTW, and then find your right-side window seat in the cabin, overlooking the wing. Click in the pull down menu, to let A.I. control your flight. You are going to hear some fabulous engine sounds, as the A.I. crew taxi to the active....(a great feature of XP!) and the engines sound very realistic. I am taking a night red-eye run...and the wing looks fabulous as the downcast lights off the right tip, highlights the ground (via HDR). I am just on pause, as the A.I. crew is about to get clearance to enter upon the runway. I highly suggest you try this out...quite the virtual experience. This plane lends to this...as the cabin is most excellent, as well as all ambient sounds, you wouldn't hear, unless you were sitting where I am...mid wing, right side, window seat... Post Edit: Fascinating...never mind the most realistic engine up and down spooling I have heard in a simulator, but as we taxi to the active across KDTW (Detroit-Metro) property...the wings...the WHOLE wing..is flexing..and when the aircraft comes to a stop, the wing will flex/wiggle, then settle down, just as in real life. There certainly is/was a lot of gems and work that has gone into this bird. I am starting to understand the VRAM load...tons of animation. Actually...if I think about it...the whole plane is a simulator, and not just the cockpit and its varied systems. Folks, if you picked this up...run the sim at a res of Default or High...and then go take a dusk flight in the 'wing seat' of either side of the aircraft...and just listen to those jet engines, as the A.I. crew throttles up and down to maintain taxi speed, and turns towards the active. What a blast.... Ses
December 8, 201510 yr We're up...and dawn just outside Detroit... As you can see...by dropping the Sim RES setting to 'High', from my usual Very High, I am popping 30 plus frames easy...and that is with all the other sliders back to normal. So...this bird can be flown with a 2GB card...you just need to keep the RES at High, or lower... Happy flights...and now to read the manual.... Final shot...and now, a Happy Camper....
December 8, 201510 yr In case anyone has a concern over lighting... which I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet...I wrote to the Developers regarding this. IMHO they are too large..especially noticeable at night. The a beacon light is extremely big and not red enough....and wingtip lights size and position colors, and the spill from the taxi lights etc... The Devs had written back to me this morning and said they would make some of the lights smaller. I just wanted to post this so the community knows that they really care about things like this and being taken care of. What a great product. Haven't taken her through a complete flight yet, but she is a beauty. I'm sure they will be making improvements as time goes on. Over all, i am very pleased. I missed the Mad Dog lacking in X-plane, now we finally have her. :-) Best, Jeff
December 8, 201510 yr For some reason, my NAV mode is basically INOP and won't follow the route. Won't even track VOR's. Seems like there's a few people with this problem, and I have no idea what could be causing it! I also always get a "flaps" takeoff warning, even though my flaps are set. I guess I just got a lemon download -Chris Crawford -ATP/MEL - B737 / B777 / B-727 / EMB-145 / LR-JET
December 8, 201510 yr Hi Chris, Having the same issue with flight plan..won't follow. I could have sworn I read on one of the forums about the nav data that the product uses? I don't know if a solution was found yet, but I plan to look when I have a chance today. Regarding the flaps warning, I noticed that I have to manually drag with my mouse to the first flap setting of 5. If I use my controller, it always goes to 11 and bypasses 5. Even if I set the configs in the cockpit for 11 with proper trim settings, I still get the warning. It seems that flaps 5 is the only option that I can see for takeoff . Best, Jeff
December 8, 201510 yr Ahhh, make sense since the flaps are bound to a switch on my throttle. I will try that out! Thanks, Jeff! -Chris Crawford -ATP/MEL - B737 / B777 / B-727 / EMB-145 / LR-JET

The warning is more than likely that you're not in the correct trim position at takeoff.
December 8, 201510 yr Hmmm.. I'm also having that VNAV issue... Richard 7950x3d | 32Gb 6000mHz RAM | 8Tb NVme | RTX 4090 | MSFS | P3D | XP12
December 9, 201510 yr You need to use the long trim setup for the desired flap position. The warning is more than likely that you're not in the correct trim position at takeoff. If the aircraft isn't trimmed, you get a T/O trim warning. This one was a warning for the flaps, and I can confirm setting it by hand has solved the problem. -Chris Crawford -ATP/MEL - B737 / B777 / B-727 / EMB-145 / LR-JET
