February 9, 201610 yr From looking at trainsim, don't think DTG will approach these things in a notably dissimilar manner........ I am hoping that if a DTG Flight Sim has a much higher sales volume compared to DTG Train Simulator that we see the price for addon's drop significantly. Train Sim is a far more niche market compared to Flight Sim, we have higher numbers. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

Train Sim is a far more niche market compared to Flight Sim, we have higher numbers. Are you so sure about it? DTG made Train Sim a popular thing once again. Just like people were not into tanks and then World of Tanks came and millions are playing it. I would say Flight Sims will catch more interest, yes, but it will depend on how it is. Oh, i found something interesting FSX-SE stats: http://steamspy.com/app/314160 Train Sim stats: http://steamspy.com/app/24010 Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
February 9, 201610 yr FSX-SE stats: http://steamspy.com/app/314160Train Sim stats: http://steamspy.com/app/24010 WOW. Over 500,000 people purchased FSX-SE???
February 10, 201610 yr Very soon I guess, and a revolution is probably happening after that :-) I am placing lot's of good hopes on this announcement ... Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
February 10, 201610 yr WOW. Over 500,000 people purchased FSX-SE??? Yes. Not exactly the whole story I suspect, as most of them probably picked it up for $4.99 whereas trainsim costs a bit more to get into. Also, I have a strong suspicion that a lot of those FSX-se purchasers were essentially existing flight simmers grabbing a quick deal, especially after the initial rumors that FSX-se was faster than FSX...... Heck, even I purchased FSX-se (I have no idea why) and thereafter completely ignored it to the point that I finally got on the STEAM friends plan with another member here and now he uses it. (I'm kinda done with FSX of any variety) We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
February 10, 201610 yr So, backward compatibility with scenery, planes & add-ons in a new sim.. We going to be happy running 10 year old's FSX scenery & aircraft technology again in a brand new sim? I'm missing the point here as to why some of us want something new? Maybe a sim that combines the best of DTG, A Plane, Train & Fishing sim. That will cover all bases. We'll have the scenery, we can transport ourselves around our virtual world, & when we are bored, we'll grab a rod, hop on to a train, maybe hop off at our nearest F1 Racing track for a quick spin around the circuit, then off to our nearest airport, then catch a plane to the lake. We can use Orbyx's BOB to check out the scenery, Problem solved. Everyone's happy, & DTG has a HUGE market! Maybe that's why DTG asked Steve Hood to join them. Oh, a bonus if it's VR compatible as well.as well.Roll on Oculus Rift! (drum roll ... Ta Daah!) Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

Train Sim is a far more niche market compared to Flight Sim, we have higher numbers. We saw this with the price of FLIGHT dlc, and I got the distinct impression some third parties did not like the writing on the wall if that had become a successful trend. I wrote at the time though that they might still make good profits if an awful lot of new buyers entered the market, but even now, I see a very cautious approach to Steam and FSX-SE. Maybe a sim that combines the best of DTG, A Plane, Train & Fishing sim. That will cover all bases. It would be a neat solution if it could be accomplished, but with trainsim switching to the unreal engine and the new flight sim using MS flight technology, it seems pretty unlikely the twains (trains?) shall ever meet, though I do know of another program aiming for a world sandbox.......... The other caveat is that Train Simulator 2015 is free to previous owners of the title. So you are looking at a couple of years of customers in that number. True, though I have heard that trainsim also has a very large turnover rate of users. Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder what will happen when trainsim hits the Xbox One? As an aside, one of the things I noticed about MSFLIGHT was that as a program, it was very compact. I wondered at the time if MS was thinking about bringing it to consoles......... Could DTGs new sim eventually have a console version in its future? We are all connected..... February 10, 201610 yr (I'm kinda done with FSX of any variety) Hehe, I actually re-installed it and am having a lot of fun back with my PMDG 777 and NGX, my A2A p51d, my RealAir Legacy and Duke... ASN painting the weather and giving me the corresponding effects... Steve's Fixer for the DX10 mode, although I disabled the shadows - couldn't care less about it... February 10, 201610 yr I remember that one Tony, but one that caused the biggest impact was actually Airline Transport Pilot, some 5 years latter :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
February 10, 201610 yr So, backward compatibility with scenery, planes & add-ons in a new sim.. We going to be happy running 10 year old's FSX scenery & aircraft technology again in a brand new sim? Wanting current addon developers to plug into the new sim does not translate to wanting backward compatibility. I don't want that either, but I would be much more interested in the new sim if A2A, PMDG, Orbx, were given the tools to develop for the new platform - that is something I'd be willing to wait a while for. If you remember when FSX hit the shelves, 3rd party content didn't start appearing until at least a year after release as the developement tools/code (or whatever) was very different from previous versions. FSX (although having performance issues) was loved by everyone two years later. I'm not suggesting that everything we currently own from them needs to be able to work in the sim. New sim, new tech by people who have a solid track record for quality simulation addons. Although I somehow don't see things evolving in this way
February 10, 201610 yr Let's all go back to this and be happy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvvfJ60gIf0 I miss the WWI fighter game... can they bring that back?
