Brighter terrain, darker cloud shadows - DONE!

Featured Replies

Wow. I've been checking back in on this thread and thinking... well...

Does anyone remember when people were still arguing that cloud shadows was an over-requested, unnecessary, eye-candy-only feature? :)

(And I'm sure that there are still those that do.)

Something a lot of people don't realize (and it's somewhat illustrated in the interface screenshots above) is that shadows tell a story about the clouds and weather. I've used that in RW flying to find a place to climb. I've used them to avoid more turbulent air in summer. It's a great indicator of what's ahead. Not as useful if you're IFR, but very much so for VFR.

Well said. ... And a great mod can unveil lurking or untapped features. Great subject, great mod.

I have to say that this tweak looks particularly amazing in the west with mountains.

Wow.  Looks like brilliant work.

Thanks so much for your hard work.

Never had that problem.

nVidia or ATI? Newer or older drivers?

He P11e

NVIDIA Gigabyte 980TI G1 latest driver .

Hm, I know that when the visibility is set to unlimited, shadows can be a bit more intensive, but in your examples it's pretty extreme.

Three things I can think of at the moment:

- did you deleted shader cache?

- do you use Shade for adjusting the shadows?

- what sky texture you are using? I would like to take a look on some pixels :)

Everything seems right.

Please post a screenshot of the clouds and shadows from 3000ft AGL with 20mi(32km) visibility (create weather theme). That is my usual testing scenario.

Anyways... we are getting close! Screenshots from the early beta of the config tool. Couple more options to be added, but this is at ~80% done.
