Has anyone moved from FSX to Xplane?

It might not be time acceleration proper, but the E1000 and the Victory by Aerobask both have a 'jump' function built-in to their MFD that allows the aircraft to jump directly to the next waypoint in the flight plan.

Using one sim doesn't mean you have to remove the other (just buy a bigger HDD/SSD). I have both X-Plane and P3D but I spend more time in P3D. FSX on the other hand, I abandoned perhaps 5 years ago.

As others have pointed out, there are just many more high quality add-ons for P3D/FSX, OrbX is a big reason for that. Very few X-Plane addons can touch them, quality-wise. Still I dabble in X-Plane from time to time, as well as Aerofly FS 2. It's nice to have a few different sims to play around with since they each have their strengths and weaknesses.

I completely made the move about a year or so ago. FS user since oh, about 1995!

Apart from PMDG's 73's and 77's I don't miss a thing!

The problem with X-Plane is finding the nuggets and secrets that can make your scenery and weather look BETTER than FSX, P3D etc. That's where X-Plane is struggling.

I also use DCS which is king of all.

I moved to X-Plane from P3D about 2 years ago, haven't looked back since! Its mountains above any simulator I have ever used, yes there are still some areas for improvement and the very small number (2 to be exact) of complex aircraft make that area more to be desired. X-Plane 10 is as stable as it can be! Not experienced any crashes due to the simulator, only due to addons I haven't installed correctly. There is a huge database of freeware content on x-plane.org and a great developer community. I hope within the next few months that we will see more from PMDG in the sim with the addition of the NGX or 777, but I guess that is wishful thinking with the lack of an update as to whether or not it is happening.

Why did I move from FSX to P3D? I was sick of the constant crashes, low performance and overall instability of the sim. Why did I move from P3D to X-Plane 10? For pretty much the same reason I moved from FSX to P3D, also the lack of a 32 bit system as opposed to the 64 bit system on XP kind of chose XP for me. I spent a lot of money on computer hardware like many of us have, with X-Plane the sim uses all of that hardware as with P3D/FSX it would only use a little portion.

If you are still operating X-Plane from the CD ROM, I would recommend you invest in the 30 dollar USB stick from Laminar, it is efficient and noise free!

X-P 11 should be released with-in the next 2 - 3 years, with the current advances in 10.50 I look forward to seeing what 11 has in store for us.

Even though, its still unknown when ... but intensive rumors would suggest, that your expectations are a bit too conservative on this.

X-Plane should be beating P3D/FSX because of its 64-bit platform. I love X-Plane because of that so I moved just recently from a 970GTX to the Zotac 1080AMPextreme 8gb. card and oh what a difference. Just looking at the GPU monitoring in the corner left after I've  upped the graphics settings to extreme or close to makes me want to laugh with joy.  And that's where FSX/P3D falls flat on its face. Load up with the ORBX products and payware airports, then crank up your graphic settings and fly between payware airports - welcome OOMs. I'm  tired of fiddling endlessly with those graphic settings and not being fully able to enjoy all the payware I've bought and that new card with FSX/P3D because of the 32 bit limitation. I now have a moratorium on any further purchases for this platform. Time to move on.

Now, X-Plane needs to desperately deal with the following which FSX/P3D runs rings around it (in no particular order): Seasons, ATC, Traffic AI. X-Life (and maybe World Traffic 3.0 when it comes out) is the best solution to a pathetic Traffic AI for X-Plane. The seasons issue is a pretty significant shortcoming of X-Plane. Finally ATC. Now I think the best ATC traffic AI combo out there is X-Life. And you can get 3rd party ATC like Pilto2ATC. But right out of the "box" ATC of P3D/FSX puts the native ATC of XP to shame. Hopefully XP 11 will improve this.

I think I'll throw VR in there as well as I don't even think XP 11 will have it. To me this is the future of flying. You only need to try the 64-bit platform AFS2 and the VR on there and see the huge possibilities of VR. While FlyInside is a nice external solution for FSX/P3D it is still badly encumbered with the 32 bit limitation.

With the quality list of payware planes, airports, scenery, utilities improving daily for XP the future is open and bright. I see no open future for the endless tweaking of 32 bit FSX/P3D. Increasingly I'm using it less and less. So maybe DTGs full FSX 64 bit platform is the long awaited hope.

So much this! This is what frustrates me to no end, I also recently upgraded my GPU, where I can now max everything out in Xplane (with all add ons), where with P3D I still have to mess around with settings depending if Im flying GA, Airlines, location, etc. While P3D V3 has improved VAS management, I still OOM if I have everything loaded/settings maxed, drives me absolutely crazy.

As soon as there is a decent modern (and I mean more modern than a 737 classic! I need a "glass cockpit") airliner for X-Plane - I will switch :-)

Or at least have both running, P3D and X Plane.

The best ATC still is VATSIM / IVAO.

If you want to sacrifice a few things but for an aircraft that isn't totally steam gauge there is the IXEG 733, a very realistic, highly detailed to the same quality of PMDG from systems depth to the visuals and sound pack.

I've been very content with XP10 and P3D v3.4

I've got some amazing addons in P3D and in XP - just depends on what mood I'm in.  And if I happen to be flying nighttime, it's more immersive in XP10.

X-Plane IS the future, with new rendering technology coming with XP11, it will only extend the gap between all sims out there. XP will only get better and better as time goes by, something I can't say about FSX or P3D, as their rendering engines are old and falling behind as technology moves on.

P3D going 64 bit (if it ever does) is not going to help, it will still show its wrinkles.

yes i have been fsx from  start   but after trying xp11 never looked back uninstalled all fsx never go back    xp11 what a breath of fresh air what a sim  ,,,,,

Well, I made the switch acroos to P3D V3.4 last month and I am like a pig in muck! BUT... I still have an open mind about XP11. But to be honest, I do have  areal personal issue with it, apart from ATC, the weather, I think the autogen sucks. I literally could not fly with the trees autogen. When I compare sceneries to P3D, then IMO there is no comparison. But like I say, I am open minded and may well take a closer look soon.

I'd say its well worth a look right now. The early betas were not great, and I did not touch it again until PB8, but now at PB10 I'd say its an excellent simulator worthy of anyone’s attention. Its very different to P3D and I don't think its worth trying to compare the two, and certainly not argue or insult either one as some love to do. For me they both offer a very different experience, but equally enjoyable, and equally I have to overlook certain things with both platforms that can take away from the emersion. Weather was my main grip in XP but xEnviro has largely overcome that aspect for me, creating some amazing sky's.
