P3D v 4 in beta?

Corporation don't work that way. The do not sum up earnings and losses from all subsidiaries/departments, etc. If a department fail, or even does not make sense to keep it, it gets slaughtered. Need proof? Microsoft/ACES.

I don't think you understood the point of my post.

Nice to read from JV that V4 is using Orbx stuff in its RTM version.

At least that is how I read it..

Huh? How can you read it like that?

Has anyone heard word from Majestic or PMDG as to updating to 64-bit?  Until these planes are compatible w/ V4 I will be holding pat w/ V3.  I guess it's bye bye for RA Turbine Duke which is a shame that is such as great plane as is their Lancair.   And then there's GSX, FSCaptain and all of the rest.

Does XPlane 11 implement seasonal changes in their scenery yet?

I wouldn't be to worried about FSDT and GSX... They've always been rather quick at updating their sceneries / addon manager.

Oh man, that hadn't occurred to me yet.

Well, hopefully A2A is already in the loop.

That was a very nice move from ORBX. Whatever bad press they may sometimes get, this is a nice gesture for their current customers.

Yeah, this is good. They were honest about not having to do anything, and therefore not charging.

Indeed... just pondering the questions, when/if other scenery developers start charging upgrade-prices - or even a full new price.

Interesting times ahead.

While I prefer cheaper/reasonable upgrade fees, I also understand the flip side. Its a little opportunity for 3PDs to make a little bit of revenue to keep them alive. Theres been a few devs who sadly have had to fold up shop, so if it keeps them up and running and keeps the hobby thriving, then so be it. It will just have to be as the budget allows and your priorities. No one should expect to transfer to 64bit overnight or even in weeks with all they invested in 32 bit. But eventually it will become more mainstream just like xp10 64bit and thankfully no more VAS monitoring. My hope is we just dont get gouged in rebuying a product all over again. There is a balance to be struck for supporting vs getting burned.

True!

But I don't see many developers, following the same road as ORBX.

Quite frankly, I think most will charge something - either an upgrade fee or (which is unlikely I think, but not unthinkable) charge for a whole new product.
