February 20, 20179 yr And this will be the minimum recommended hardware for satisfactory performance with 128 bit P3D, with all sliders no more than mid-position. http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/alienware-area51-r2/dpcw06brhs?s=dhs&oc=dpcw06brhs LOL for that price that thing better come with "Boobs" if they want to sell one!! February 20, 20179 yr Hey, The best indicator which has very high probability of success is when Pete Dowson plan's his vacation. About 80-90% of the time, LM always released something when he is away on vacation. No point speculating, just wait for him to announce his next vacation plans and that way we all know that P3D release is imminent. simple  How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)
February 20, 20179 yr I really hope that LM has the guts to ditch any legacy code that is holding back real progress. We have to buy everything over again anyway, might as well do so in a sim that is near perfect. Mark CYYZ

You might be disappointed Mark why I say this is Orbx said there would be a small update charge to Their current products that tells me things are not going to be that much different I would assume That being said the code will probably be great some more bells and whistles and life goes on with your payware update charges of course The one thing that I am wondering about is all those factory airports and base land textures will look like - I would imagine they wont be any different from what you have now or Orbx wouldn't be offering a small update charge why would anyone use Orbx if this new P3D was better Rich Sennett

We have to buy everything over again anyway, might as well do so in a sim that is near perfect. The vaunted 'legacy code' issue is brought up regularly but I wonder really if it is mostly BS at this point in time. Truly, what really do we know about 'legacy code' and its real impact on progress? Just curious about the truth of the matter. I have to also guess a whole bunch of code has been reworked, so it's not that 'legacy' any more, is it? I guess it really begs the question, are there now much more efficient code designs to deliver the end product in a simulator that can't be employed well in P3D currently. My conclusion at this point...not much change in over all look but more changes in performance and I do expect that the new add ons will be more the type that run outside and communicate with the sim. I hope this is true because then we may be able to use a second networked computer to run aircraft like we do now with weather add ons. February 20, 20179 yr That being said the code will probably be great some more bells and whistles and life goes on with your payware update charges of course I just wish they would tweak the default P3D ATC a bit to avoid the herring-bone vector changes, bring up the option to request short final, and stop insisting I go back up to FL180 when I'm 30m out just because I started my decent earlier than I should have! I recently read a post by J Venema that it's not going to be a big deal, moving to 64 bit for their scenery products. The 'run outside of P3D' is something I've wondered about since picking up the incredibly easy on processing Maj Dash 8 Q400. It also troubles me when I am using GSX after TD and GSX is about to set up the marshall at the chosen gate--that nasty stutter it seems could be avoided if the program ran outside of P3D. If that happens, the 100 or so new users, will be telling us how great it is while we continue to enjoy Version 3.X.
February 20, 20179 yr Has LM said anything regarding V4? if so i havent heard anything but devs commenting about this.. Oh and they better put in a good recording tool that recordes all movement, i mean its a NEED for everybody, fsrecorder is outdated and normal recorder just,,, no comment lol. but i think thats one thing we need.
February 20, 20179 yr If that happens, the 100 or so new users, will be telling us how great it is while we continue to enjoy Version 3.X. I guess I have a bit more faith at this point in LM. I just do not believe that they would switch to 64 bit with out some plan to have something worth flying. It would be a bit like releasing a Chess Board with no peices to play with. I do not know but I suspect that there are some developers out there who have be working the problem for some time.Nothing else makes any sense to me. I am like everyone else wishing and guessing. Another point is that a lot of developers have jumped over to the newer X-Plain (pun intended) and so in addition to making some more money to live on they are no doubt getting a lot of experience with 64Bit. February 20, 20179 yr 1+ There is definitely a cost to update all of your Orbx products - been stated more than once My guess would be 10$ to 15$ charge for each previously purchased product Based on JVs statements months ago, I expect the cost to be $5 or less per scenery. He said it would be a minimal cost. $10-$15 is 20-30%. Not minimal, in my book. We shall see... Aaron Thacker
