Hopefully they and FT work together with both their Las Vegas projects.

Man, you have to be kidding.  I thought FSDT was redoing their Las Vegas.

They may still be but with Martin at Fly Tampa doing KLAS now which was announced not long ago and DD saying they were doing the city of Las Vegas I would be surprised if they still did. With regards to remakes, FSDT should focus on ORD/JFK.

Lord.  In the US you can't get very many class C airports.

BTW anybody know what this "No triggerable objects found within 6.5NM" message is?  I applied the patch for the gates and the message keeps popping up.

Now that would be something

Great to see you floating around here, how are things at the darker side ;-)

Tempted to try this one looks great

My first blush opinion of Andrews AFB as it is depicted in Washington X v1.01 is that it is a reasonable representation of the airfield proper, but it is a "lite" airport as advertised...grass and dirt around the field are fuzzy green/brown (or white in snowy winter) unappealing ground textures, hangars look to be of the right type, are properly positioned and look reasonably good (but stay away from the awful-looking "lite" textures), taxi/rwy lighting appears to be default P3D, but it works.  The west ramp is way too dark at night--the real-world stadium lights that run down the west side of the ramp keep it pretty well-lit.  Away from the flightline, the buildings are rather sparsely-set default stuff.  I have not flown approaches nor otherwise tested the navaids yet.

The base ops/pax terminal buildings right next to spot 4A where A1 usually departs from are skinned with pretty low-quality, blurry textures, and there should be a brick wall across the gap between the buildings.  This is one area that should get some more detailed attention, since most of the VIP movements depart/arrive on/near that spot.  The fire station just south of the tower is represented by a default 2-story office building and looks pretty out of place.

Before I was using the SDB Scenery version ported to P3D with a bunch of ADE work, but it had jetways coming off the base ops building, and the ramp/rwy layout was pretty far off.  This one gets the airfield layout fairly accurately, and some of the oddities might be correctable with some ADE and Instant Scenery work.  I plan to add some static MAIW 89AW airplanes on the west ramp to give it less of a barren feel.

I had 1 GB of VAS available with the PMDG 747 sitting on the field with very few AI acft present.

What's people's VAS say with the NGX at DCA with the Lite texture pack vs the standard texture pack?

Since FT is working on Vegas, we will head to our next planned project, hopefully as exciting as Vegas due to aviation reasons. ;-)

Some west coast American airports are much needing a high quality make over like PDX, RNO, BIL, ABQ, OAK

KRNO is being done by Pacsim.  In the east they could do a lot for Atlanta since they like doing cities as well.  Also, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Louisville or New Orleans for larger airports.  The Bahamas would be awesome (Nassau was done by IDS but it's got problems.)  There are a ton of beautiful class C airports that haven't been touched.

Hi Folks,

I'm with Gregg - someone needs to show the C's and D's some love - the Bravo's have been beat to death... LOL - just how many times do we need to see Las Vegas ?

Hats off to PACSIM for taking on the airports that haven't been done before...

I'd like to see someone redo Vauchez's fine FlightZone work with KPVD and KPDX... Very similar to DD's concept of including some of the smaller surrounding airports... Someone mentioned a developer working on KPDX ?

If anyone watches how the ORBX Freeware guys populate their airports - New England looks as if it's been hit with a shotgun blast recently - my money would predict a New England Region Pack in our future - other developers could probably position themselves to capitalize off the interest it generates in the area...

I've seen the work in progress screenshots from the DD's New York City Airports Version 2 and they look quite good... Far better than version 1 I purchased and with the note on the page of a 300% increase in performance - also sorely needed... Wish they would add the poor neglected White Plains (KHPN) to the mix as I don't think it's ever been done and it's a nice little reliever for New York City with beautiful approaches hosting Commercial, Business, and Private traffic...

Anyway - think I'm going to chance the performance on Washington X since there has been so much good feedback...

OBTW: Scott Ridley of Freeflow Bahamas fame recently appeared out of nowhere and dropped a little inquiry over on the ORBX forum - dare we hope for an ORBX Bahamas ?

Scott

I've thought about a New England region for a long time...so similar to PNW and virtually untouched by devs.  Then, perhaps, Appalachia and Florida.  I have to say, though, I have had my regions turned off for some time both for performance and VAS.  A region often costs me 5 fps and I'd prefer smooth.  I suspect P3d64 isn't going to help with performance though I'd love to be wrong.

Would love to see someone do CYYZ, a major airport. Fly Tampa is okay but they left out the surrounding area.

Bob-

But how do the golf courses at the South end look? lol. Very cool you had that experience. I work for the Navy and play golf there a lot and always love watching the lear trainers and F-16s doing touch and gos.

Anything is better than the default KADW and even the one MAIW did that I was using for a while. So for those asking it is improved but not 100% accurate or 100% graphically to your liking.

The question is REX was going to do DCA next for their freeware airports. Maybe they should reconsider. A nice BWI would be fantastic!

Folks,

Is there an option in the installer to install the KDCA alone without the city?

Thanks
