If you have  a pagefile, your system would start to use it and your performance would go to single digits. If you have no pagefile, you would crash. On 1920x1080 and sim literally maxed out I was not able to reach 7 gigs of total used RAM over Heathrow, so I don't know how people push it further lol.

But with ORBX, PMDG, AS16, MT6,.. I'd imagine it wouldn't be that hard to get over 8GB, right? So I probably need more RAM now. It's always something :)

Just flown around Flightbeams KSFO then under the Golden Gate bridge, all settings at max.

Its wonderful!!

What did you do after that??    in Gta 5 if you fly under all the bridges they give you a medal.

Toronto was always the OOM of doom for me.  Can't wait to fly out of here without hanging on a knife edge.

Same.  Moreso with my pmdg birds and a cyyz addon.

With all of these addons, apart from NASA machines users, people won't be able to max the sim out.

That's good to hear as I run 1920 x 1080 with 8GB of RAM.

With Tube flying I don't need autogen at max, but would like LOD at max.

What setting can be pushed with a 1070 8GB VRAM?

Ideally would like to push VRAM and RAM to around 7GB each.

Well, in regards to VRAM I completely don't understand what needs to be done to use more than 2,5 gigs of it. Unless you're on 4K offcourse. My tests on default scenery shown that maxed out sim in Heathrow or NYC area is not eating more than 2,5-2,6 gigs of VRAM with 4xSSAA.

Obviously, 16 gig of regular DDR3 would be useful as you won't be hitting the limit. I'm planning to upgrade some time soon.

Thanks for answering !

I would be interested to know how effective the new high end AA settings are (8x SSAA etc) at eliminating shimmering and flickering. I have to use 4x SGSS and 8xS AA (with 16x AF) in P3D v3 to reduce this to a comfortable level, but this does have an impact on framerates to some extent.

With 4xSSAA shimmering and flickering are non existent for me. I'm using a GTX 1080 at 4k

I guess that I should have mentioned that I use 1920x1080 resolution, which is likely to require more "fancy tricks" to remove excessive shimmering than 4K.

I've just tested at 1920x1080 and I think you will be very pleased concerning the shimmering and flickering. Even at 2xMSAA shimmering is non existent and the flickering is barely noticeable and by that I mean I really have to look for it.

Much improved since v3

I found a lot of shimmering in the distance at 2xMSAA but much less at 4x
