I just copied the plane over from my FSX installation and the panel.cfg file included:

gauge21=RASDuke_Sound!Sound, 1,1,2,2,./SimObjects/Airplanes/RealAir Duke B60 V2/Panel/Sound/RASDuke_Sound.ini
gauge22=RASDuke!Sound_Manager, 1,1,3,3

Bert  ....

That worked a treat  .... thank you very much for your help ... I am a happy chap  :)

Mine is internal, the FSX way..

Okay at least that gives me another clue to explore later. Thanks for the reply!

Bert, I did exactly the same as you but I get a Config File Not Found error when I load the B60 and no new sounds. Is your B60 install inside the P3 folder (the FSX way) or external from the root sim per the preferred LM way? Mine is external & I think that might be causing my problems. Thanks for your help! -Kevin

I was running into issues with having the files installed outside of the P3D4 folder structure. Content log couldn't find the .WAV files or P3D4 couldn't find the .INI file. Finally went in to the .INI file and changed all the file locations to absolute from relative, ie. .\SimObjects\Airplanes to E:\Shared planes\SimObjects\Airplanes. Also made the same change for the Panel.Cfg file from relative to Absolute and Bingo, Bongo the flaps and spoilers and landing gear came back as music to my ears.

P3D sometimes has 'issues' using the relative file reference and changing to absolute seems to clear thing up.

Pease_W,

That makes sense and matches up to the error info that's displayed when it can't find the ini file. I'll give it a go tonight... thanks for the tip!

Hi, I have been following this thread, waiting until I could use the Duke Turbine in v4 with all sounds.

I had the same issue as Pease_W, but when I tried updating all the file locations to absolute, it still would give me file not found errors. I'm pretty confident this is because I tried to install in an external folder rather than install into the P3D v4 structure.

I found that the app is searching for the files from the context of the folder the RASDukeTv2_Sound.ini file is in, so I updated my config file to just have \filename.wav as the location, and it works again.

TLDR;

Here is my whole RASDukeTv2_Sound.ini file. Backup your original and paste this in it if you are getting file not found errors when loading the duke. Good luck.

Hi guys

I've read this whole thread and still cant get this gauge to work.  The only .GAU file I have lives in \Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Real Air Turbine Duke V2\Gauges.

I have the Real Air Turbine Duke v2 installed via the add-on.xml method.

I have taken the gauge from Doug dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64.dll, renamed it to RASDukeTv2_Sound.gau and dropped it into my gauges folder, overwrote the original but this doesn't work?

I've seen people editing files/some people not editing files.....?

Can someone help please?

Hi everyone

Having now got the sounds back in the cockpit I am finding them a bit on the loud side  e.g flaps/landing gear  ....  (never pleasing some people is there haha)

I have tried altering the cockpit and environment sounds down within P3D v4 but sadly it doesn't change anything  ...

Are there values that can be altered within the config file?

Cheers

I was going to change the value of the last variable (it's a number) in the gear up/down and flaps up/down sound.ini file to see if that lowered the volume. Trial and error. If that didn't work I'll use Audacity to lower the individual .wav files.

This I can help you with...

In @supertemp post above, you will see that some of the sounds listed have negative integer values listed after their names.

These values represent attenuation, in hundredths of decibels.  By adding such a value to the line for the offending sound, you can reduce its volume.  The maximum attenuation possible is 100db, using a value of -10000, but I suspect that only your dog will be able to hear the sounds if you use an attenuation of any more than about 35db (-3500.)

DirectSound does not support amplification, so you can't make the sound louder using this method.

Hi Doug

Where is the sound ini file located  .....  I am flying the Turbine not the B60  .. is it slightly different?

Hi,

it should go into the panel folder!

What I did:

Duke:

Unzip and rename dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64.dll to RASDukeTv2_Sound.gau. Put this file into ...\Realair\Simobjects\Airplanes\RealAir Duke Turbine V2\panel\ (replace the 32bit version). Done

Cheers,
Chris

Hi,

try to put the RASDukeTv2_Sound.gau file into the root gauges folder of "...\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d V4\gauges" and see if it works.

If it works, it appears that you have not included the correct entry/path in the gauges.cfg sitting in the ProgramData folder for Prepar3d V4, or add-on.xml (whatever method you prefer).

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks when you say "try to put the RASDukeTv2_Sound.gau file into the root gauges folder"

Do you mean the doug dawson gauge dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64.dll, renamed it to RASDukeTv2_Sound.gau?  Then drop it in \Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d V4\gauges?

It is really important that you put the new gauge in the same folder as the one it is replacing.

Before you put anything anywhere, look in panel.cfg for the name of the old gauge and then find that gauge.  Then you know where to put the new one, whether you are renaming it or not.

Sorry, I have just edited my previous post. I have put my renamed RASDukeTv2_Sound.gau file  in ....\Realair\Simobjects\Airplanes\RealAir Duke Turbine V2\panel\

But as Doug said just one post above, you should check the panel.cfg first.
