Doug,

Thanks for updating your gauge to 64 bits. The community was worried when RealAir closed up shop and you've managed to keep this beautiful aircraft alive for the foreseeable  future.

Jay

Yes, thank you Doug

The RealAir Turbine Duke installer would have installed the aircraft to its own folder, outside of P3d V3, so the first post in this thread explains how to get the aircraft working in P3d V4 with the new add-on.xml method. To make the TD sound gauge work in both V3 and V4 simultaneously, follow Doug Dawson's suggestion but do not edit the entry for gauge21, but rather add Doug's gauge as gauge25. The two versions of P3d will both ignore the wrong versions of the gauge and only use the correct version. I just checked this and it worked for me. Report back if you notice a problem.

Just tested and RADuke T ok in in P3Dv3 and P3Dv4 >>>>> Doug's 64 bit sound file working great ...

Much thanks Doug.

Jay, thanks for sharing your procedure to get it all working in both V3 and V4 simultaneously ... great !

Now I have to see if Ezdok likes P3Dv3 and P3Dv4 with this setup ...?

Yep, all looks good with Ezdok in P3Dv3 / V4 ... with other aircraft ... will test with RADukeT next.

All ok with Ezdok / RADukeT in P3Dv3 / v4 with this setup.

So far so good!

Wow, thank you.  I read Dougs instructions to not change gauge name but to edit Panel.cfg. My solution was to make a copy of line 21, R.E.M. out the original and edit the copy with the new gauge name.  I would then make two copies of panel.cfg, one named panel.32 and the other panel.64.  Finally copy the version you want to fly, .32 or .64 to panel.cfg.

Your solution positively rocks and makes mine look positively Luddite.

thanks again

I did this exact thing for the Legacy v2 but still don't have gear/flaps/spoiler sounds.  I imagine the coding is the same for the duke and legacy?

Just to let you know that the "dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64_gauge_only" gauge works for both the DUKE and LEGACY V2.

What I did:

Duke:

Unzip and rename dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64.dll to RASDukeTv2_Sound.gau. Put this file into ...\Realair\Simobjects\Airplanes\RealAir Duke Turbine V2\panel\ (replace the 32bit version). Done

Legacy  V2

Unzip and rename ddsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64.dll  to RASLegacy_Sound_V2.gau. Put this file into ...\Realair\Simobjects\Airplanes\RealAir Legacy V2\panel\ (replace the 32bit version). Done

No further modifications to files were necessary using this method (such as panel.cfg etc.).

Chris

Like others I wish to offer my sincere thanks to Doug for going above and beyond for us to help keep our RA birds flying with sound in V4!

Slightly off topic, but has anyone out there who installed the Duke B60 V2 into P3D V4 (using the external XML method) been able to install the new gauge into that aircraft and get it to work?  Seemed like it might work the same way (whichever method one chooses) as updating the TD and Legacy with the new gauge but I get a "Config File Not Found" error after inserting the new dll file and no new sounds.

Yup, I totally get that it's an FSX a/c version that was never actually released for P3D so I'm not complaining; I thought it was worth a shot since everything else on the B60 works just fine in P3D v4 and the config file structure looks identical but so far no luck.  If anyone happens to get it working in the B60 I'd appreciate a shout.

Cheers!

So did I. Works perfectly.

OK, I'll put the direct link in this thread too...

www.douglassdawson.ca/files/dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64_gauge_only.zip

I would only ask that if you distribute the file, you do not include the letters 'fsx' in the name and that you not remove the letters '_x64' from the name.

I don't want anyone getting the idea that this version of the gauge will work in previous versions of FS - it's 64 bit and so of course it will not.  It probably won't work in FSW either.

Hello

I guess this is directed to Doug but if anyone else knows the answer I'd appreciate it

I have Real Air's Duke B60 v2 aircraft  ... will this sound gauge and cfg entry work for this aircraft too or does it need modifying?

Cheers

Ryan I suggest you check your edits.  The gauge does work in both aircraft.  I too had a bit of a snag with the legacy at first, but it was because in the spirit of P3d v4 I saved my panel.cfg in Unicode format.  When that did not work, I went back to ansi and voila! It worked.

good luck, -Braun

I had an extra .gau file in the root Gauges folder causing the problem, I removed it, and now it works, thanks.

I have mine installed via the old point installler and go method, but does anyone who is using the xml install method see that their control panel is working?  My v4 CP controls the v3 installation.  I have to manually edit values in P3D v4.

Ryan, what I did to enact the CP was:

installed to P3dv3 using point install method to v4 addon folder

v3 sees it and CP works

v4 sees it and keeps whatever settings I choose in CP

only on instance of A/C exists, in v4 addon folder

hope this is helpful

Yes,  I just renamed the gauge to RASDuke_Sound.dll and dropped it into the Gauges folder

Hi Bert

Did you need to add the cfg.panel  gauge 21 line as well or just add the sound gauge?

I just copied the plane over from my FSX installation and the panel.cfg file included:

gauge21=RASDuke_Sound!Sound, 1,1,2,2,./SimObjects/Airplanes/RealAir Duke B60 V2/Panel/Sound/RASDuke_Sound.ini
gauge22=RASDuke!Sound_Manager, 1,1,3,3

Bert, I did exactly the same as you but I get a Config File Not Found error when I load the B60 and no new sounds. Is your B60 install inside the P3 folder (the FSX way) or external from the root sim per the preferred LM way? Mine is external & I think that might be causing my problems. Thanks for your help! -Kevin
